Elizabeth House is owned by Runwood Homes and specialises in both elderly and dementia care, with a capacity of 108 residents, based in two separate buildings purposely-designed to achieve excellent results.

The service has a superb record with regulatory inspections, having shown its effectiveness in improving the health and well-being of frail residents who might find life a struggle elsewhere.

My mother entered Elizabeth House and had "forgotten" how to walk. I am most impressed by the prompt action of the CTM to arrange a physiotherapist but more important her action to encourage all staff to keep trying to stimulate my mother into action. We have had some success which is brilliant. They
never give up wanting the best for their residents. Thank you.

I have had to make almost weekly complaints about the level of care given at EH for over 2 years to my friend. Investigations have taken place by the regional manager and explanations have been given but still I have cause for concern.
Unclean nails, no shave given, teeth not brushed, missing clothing
and shoes, unironed clothing etc. My friend's care plan has not been followed on a regular basis and in the past there have been omissions of what care has been given.
EH decor and gardens are amazing but they need to concentrate on the basics, not the facade. Fresh flowers in reception and newly painted interior give a good impression but personal care standards are lacking.
Most of the staff do their best but with so many residents they struggle. There is very little stimulation for residents and although things have improved slightly with a new manager it is still not a home that I would recommend.

Have had many complaints meetings, even had the owner of the home to one meeting about the home, my sister's hygiene not having showers or baths. Have complained many times, have now got this problem sorted, not enough stimulation for people in home. My sister is only 68 and spends most of the day in
her bedroom with the curtains shut just watching TV.
I take her out when I can, we also send her one day a week to the local centre for stimulation, the staff work hard and are all kind to my sister. It's hard work short staff mean not a lot of time for people.

Welcome to Elizabeth House, where you can find out all you need to know about our wonderful home. My name is Ade, and I am the Home Manager. We are a 108-bedroom, spacious, and newly furbished home located on Benfleet Road. The home consists of two units; Poppy and Bluebell. Each unit is set over two floors and is equipped with its own lounge and dining rooms.


We have so much to offer here at Elizabeth House, including an on-site hairdressing salon, a shop, the Garden Café, a bar, a library and a sports room. Some of our regular activities throughout the home include bingo, quizzes, karaoke, arts and crafts and more. Our chef creates very nutritious and appetising meals for residents.


We invite you to pop in and have a look around the home and ask any and all questions you have. We are always happy to help in any way we can. We are so proud of our home and look forward to sharing it with you.

I'm Karen Burrows; I'm the Lifestyle Coordinator. I have worked at Elizabeth House for 10 years. I organise and plan our activities in the home and trips out with our residents. I am a fun, entertaining lady; I'm always willing to take the lead, dress up, and join in to make the residents happy. I'm always cheerful and jolly and get the carers and other team members involved. I enjoy looking around the shops in her spare time for raffle prizes to raise money for our residents and the home. I also use my free time to search social media for any new ideas, new activities, or events we can hold for something different. I say that it makes me happy to go home of an evening knowing the residents have had fun and are happy and smiling.
