Longfield is a homely, comfortable single-storey care home in the pretty coastal town of Maldon, Essex.

It specialises in caring for older people living with or without dementia.

There is a large mature garden, summer house and two attractive private courtyards, providing plenty of opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

The home has open and spacious communal areas arranged as five smaller units, a reminiscence room and a large central music room. This gives a variety of comfortable areas with different atmospheres for people to enjoy.
The single-storey layout and handrails throughout make the home easy to navigate and stroll around.

Each unit has its own kitchenette – meaning you are never far from a hot drink and a biscuit! The excellent chef cooks from fresh ingredients every day and caters for all dietary requirements.

Longfield has a stable team of experienced, caring and committed staff with a family ethos and emphasis on relationship building with both residents and relatives. Every member of staff, from carer to cook, manager to laundry assistant, all know the residents well.
Everyone is welcomed with a smile and a hello.
A full-time activities co-ordinator is employed and the home has established links with local churches, schools and volunteers, as well as community groups.

My mum spent the last 15 months until her death at Longfield.
She went in during lock down during what was a very traumatic time for us.
She had Parkinson’s and Dementia and the home was absolutely brilliant in dealing with her condition.
I cannot praise all the staff highly enough for the constant
care and consideration that Mum, and us as a family were given. Our questions were always readily answered.
They have been outstanding in so many ways and were so kind and caring to us all in Mum’s last days.
I would very highly recommend the home.

My mum was in Longfield care home for the past 15 months of her life. This was not easy as it was during the first lockdown that she went in after an illness. The care she received was outstanding from each member of the team. She had Parkinson's and dementia and deteriorated but the staff were so kind
to her and kept us up to date with her medical needs and how she was doing. I can't speak highly enough of this home and will be recommending it to others.

I came here in October and have been very happy, good food and good company. We play Bingo every week, have singing and music. The hairdresser also comes in each week.

Throughout the pandemic we have been well informed and staff have worked hard to keep our mum comfortable and safe. Staff have been good humoured and hard working. There is a homely atmosphere throughout. Our mum has been here for over five years and we have never regretted choosing Longfield.

My father has been in this care home since the beginning of the pandemic. I cannot speak highly enough of the care he has received and the support we have been given during this really challenging time for us all. I would not hesitate to recommend Longfield, they have kept us constantly updated, liaised
with services on our behalf and looked after Dad during a really difficult time for us all.

We were extremely fortunate for our mother to receive respite care at Longfields whilst our father was taken to hospital in October last year. However, with Mum suffering from dementia and our father being the primary carer, we were worried about how our mother would adapt. However, from feeling guilty
about resulting to external care whilst our father recovered at home, we soon saw our mother blossom upon our window visits during COVID. Not only did this give us peace of mind that she was happy and well cared for but more importantly, to our father. Longfields handled the COVID pandemic excellently in constantly keeping in contact with us as a family in any changes to the guidelines and even providing a two-way microphone for the window visits, which helped our hard of hearing father. Sadly our father passed away late last year, and our mother is now a permanent resident; we are so lucky and happy that she is now in a place that both our mother and us feels like it is her home!

Longfield staff provided caring and compassionate support to my father during his final months treating him and the wider family with great respect and dignity. Soon after my fathers passing the Longfield staff took my mother into their care and since her admission, she has improved immeasurably. Throughout
the COVID 19 pandemic the Longfield staff have kept all of the residents safe and COVID free which is testament to their abilities to provide the required protection and care to residents.

My Mum has been a resident at Longfield Care Home for 4 years now. She has Alzheimer's but has received dignified care and lots of active support in all of her time there. She loves the garden areas of the home, but also tells me that the food is lovely, too! She is able to do some things for herself,
but where extra care is needed, the team in Longfield will always ensure that dignity and respect are always maintained.
I always find the home is just that. A home. The team clearly understand that, too. The home is always clean and very well maintained. There are lots of events and activities and, in normal times, even great entertainers who visit and keep the residents smiling. The facilities are good, too, with all the assistance tools and devices needed for those who need a little extra help.
I always find the team to be bright and cheerful and that is infectious! Mum has been happy here for the 4 years and, even if she has had a little turn, the team are there to help.

Although my friend has only been in Longfield Care Home since 1st October, and because of the Covid 19 epidemic, I have not been able to see her room or go inside the building, we have of course had regular conversations with the resident, either by telephone or through the window. Now that she has
settled in, she is very happy and is full of praise for all the staff, excellent food, and attention. My dealings with various staff members, both at the door and on the telephone, have been outstanding, and any request has never been too much trouble for them. I am more than satisfied in choosing Longfield care home in Maldon, and would recommend them to anyone.

Longfield care home has looked after my grandma with great care. They have done such a good job since the beginning of the pandemic at keeping the residents safe. The staff are friendly, helpful and most of all caring which is exactly what we all hope for in people looking after our loved ones. The
accommodation is always clean and my grandma tells me the food is good.

My father regularly stays at Longfield for respite care. I cannot praise Longfield and all the staff enough. They are caring and professional and understand all my father's needs. Longfield is very welcoming.
The food is excellent and my father always comments ho good it is. There's regular social
activities which my father is encouraged to join.
I can enjoy my holiday knowing that my father will be cared for and all his needs met whilst I'm away. Thank you!

It was my great privilege to witness the heart-warming scene of the professional team at Longfield bringing the true spirit of Christmas to all the residents, in the most caring, affectionate and fun way possible.
I visited Mum shortly before lunch on 17th December to find the lounge decked out with
Christmas decorations, and the table laid for a full celebration. The dinner was fabulous with nothing left to spare the appetite. However, what made it all so special was the engagement of all the staff. This is a place where, “everybody knows your name”, not just the carers but all the support staff. This is truly one big family where every resident is treated with care and affection.
In many ways, this was like being present at the finale of a Dickensian story where the warmth and goodness of human nature shines through and reminds us all of what is important in life. As a professional team, they are all extraordinary and I am deeply grateful my mother is in their care.

Words cannot express how delighted I am in finding the right home for our mum, mum a lady who loves music, chat, and feel at home, the staff have made us all very welcome at Longfield they are caring attentive, supportive and very friendly, the music room is outstanding of which we find most of our
time spending in putting on CDs to listen too of which the centre has a huge variety of to please every taste. The entertainment is run by a lovely lady who organises everything and decorates the centre for all events, the local children come to the centre on a regular basis of which delight everyone and every week there is something going on.
the Chef, in particular, makes everything from scratch and makes lovely homemade cakes too, and caters for all diets. The staff do not stop working and it's so lovely to see them all get involved a happy unit makes a happy home for everyone, residents and family, and I thank everyone at Longfield for making this such a wonderful home.

A local primary school is visiting the home once a week. A small group of year sixes comes and plays games like dominoes with the old people or use craft materials to make decorations for Christmas. The children are delightful and the old people really respond well to them. A wonderful experience for
my Mother in Law and everyone else.

I started my career in care in 1999 after studying Science and Health Studies at college. Throughout my career, I have worked in nursing and residential homes, supporting older people with disabilities and dementia, and their families.


In the past, I have supported members of my own family through illness. This experience ignited my passion for working in care and ensuring that every resident receives the compassion, care and support they deserve. I have worked within the Excelcare group since 2015 in several roles, progressing to Home Manager and completing a level 5 diploma in care management. I have managed Longfield since 2014 and am very committed to this home.


I am very proud of our home and the fantastic team I work with. I am passionate about team member development and love supporting colleagues to improve their knowledge and progress in their careers.


I enjoy gardening, walking, skiing, and spending time with my family in my spare time.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2014

I joined Longfield Care Home as an experienced care assistant in 2014. I quickly progressed to the role of Team Leader, and then in 2018 became Deputy Manager.


I have completed level 2 and 3 diplomas in care, and I am currently completing the level 5 diploma in care management. My two specialities are Dementia Care and Parkinson’s Disease care. I have completed qualifications in both these subjects, and I am accredited to lead teaching sessions in Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia Care.


My favourite part of the job is getting to know residents and their families and building a connection with people. I also like to continually learn and improve my knowledge through training and working closely with other professionals.


In my spare time, I enjoy walking my two dogs and family get-togethers, particularly summertime BBQs.
