Longfield is a homely, comfortable single-storey care home in the pretty coastal town of Maldon, Essex.

It specialises in caring for older people living with or without dementia.

There is a large mature garden, summer house and two attractive private courtyards, providing plenty of opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

The home has open and spacious communal areas arranged as five smaller units, a reminiscence room and a large central music room. This gives a variety of comfortable areas with different atmospheres for people to enjoy.
The single-storey layout and handrails throughout make the home easy to navigate and stroll around.

Each unit has its own kitchenette – meaning you are never far from a hot drink and a biscuit! The excellent chef cooks from fresh ingredients every day and caters for all dietary requirements.

Longfield has a stable team of experienced, caring and committed staff with a family ethos and emphasis on relationship building with both residents and relatives. Every member of staff, from carer to cook, manager to laundry assistant, all know the residents well.
Everyone is welcomed with a smile and a hello.
A full-time activities co-ordinator is employed and the home has established links with local churches, schools and volunteers, as well as community groups.

A well run home with friendly caring staff. They have cared for my husband in an extremely good way. He could not be better cared for.

My mother lived at Longfield for over 3 years and during that time it truly became her home.
In the early days, she missed the independent living her previous home of 40+ years gave her. As her dementia progressed she relied on the support and safety of care home living, helped greatly by the wonderful
care support staff that maintained her dignity to the end.

Myself and my sister find that Longfield Care Home look after my mother very well. We have no concerns but if there was an issue we feel happy to consult with the carers/management to resolve any problems.


My mum seems happy here.

Staff very friendly, helpful and mum enjoys her meals. She is treated with kindness and dignity. The bedrooms do need updating but I'm always kept informed as to mums health.
Safe and secure environment with nice small units, residents are able to wander where ever they want.

I can honestly say that my overall experience of Longfield was excellent. This in my view was down to the excellent staff and that means all the staff domestic, Kitchen, carers, senior carers and management all were very caring, polite and respectful and most of all my mother enjoyed being at Longfield.

I would recommend this home to everybody it's like a home from home.


Staff are very friendly and caring. The home is very clean, the food is excellent.


The residents are really well cared for, activities every day, all sorts of things going on for them. If I ever need care, that's where I'd like

to go.

Gina Copsey

Job Title: Manager

Joined: 2015

I started my career in care in 1999 after studying Science and Health Studies at college. Throughout my career, I have worked in nursing and residential homes, supporting older people with disabilities and dementia, and their families.


In the past, I have supported members of my own family through illness. This experience ignited my passion for working in care and ensuring that every resident receives the compassion, care and support they deserve. I have worked within the Excelcare group since 2015 in several roles, progressing to Home Manager and completing a level 5 diploma in care management. I have managed Longfield since 2014 and am very committed to this home.


I am very proud of our home and the fantastic team I work with. I am passionate about team member development and love supporting colleagues to improve their knowledge and progress in their careers.


I enjoy gardening, walking, skiing, and spending time with my family in my spare time.

Claire Pugh

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2014

I joined Longfield Care Home as an experienced care assistant in 2014. I quickly progressed to the role of Team Leader, and then in 2018 became Deputy Manager.


I have completed level 2 and 3 diplomas in care, and I am currently completing the level 5 diploma in care management. My two specialities are Dementia Care and Parkinson’s Disease care. I have completed qualifications in both these subjects, and I am accredited to lead teaching sessions in Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia Care.


My favourite part of the job is getting to know residents and their families and building a connection with people. I also like to continually learn and improve my knowledge through training and working closely with other professionals.


In my spare time, I enjoy walking my two dogs and family get-togethers, particularly summertime BBQs.
