My Dad stayed at Milton Lodge for about 7 weeks for a period of respite care after a stay in hospital.

He was well looked after in Milton Lodge and this is down to the staff in there who are very good. Some of them are real gems, but I always felt that the team as a whole really cared about my Dad

and the other residents there.

Dad enjoyed the food there - a little bit too much he said as far as all the cakes and biscuits went! He said the cooked meals at lunch time were delicious.

Once I walked in to a big lounge there looking for my Dad (he was elsewhere). There were about 15 residents bunched together, all in a jolly mood waving at me. Very different from another home that I visited a while ago where it was all very subdued and a bit depressing in the residents lounge. So if you've got a relative who's sociable and enjoys company this home might well suit them! They do also have other lounges where things are a lot more peaceful if residents want some peace and quiet.

The one downside was the room my Dad was staying in which I personally thought could have done with some redecoration, but overall I would definitely recommend Milton Lodge to anyone interested.

(ps. another minor blip - when my Dad went in quite a few bits of clothing got lost in the home's laundry. If you've got a relative going into a home name everything!)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.138) out of 10 for Milton Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.681 for Milton Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (51 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4.681

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.457 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Milton Lodge is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 7 = 0.857

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Trudi Snee

Job Title: Care Home Manager

My name is Trudi Snee and I’m the proud Manager of Milton Lodge Care Home. I’ve worked in care since the age of 16, spurred on with the courage and conviction of wanting to make a difference, having witnessed a poor level of care afforded to my own Grandfather and therefore firmly believing that not all care homes fail to deliver.

I started working at Milton Lodge in 2000 as a Care Assistant and then progressed my way up through the ranks until being appointed Manager in 2006. I’m extremely passionate about the home and pride myself on the service and level of care that my team and I deliver to our residents, all of which we have come to regard as family – this is never just a job to me, it has become my life.
