Millard House is a friendly and caring family run home for older people in Bocking, Braintree. They are proud to be a Gold Standards Accredited Purpose Built Care Home with a CQC 'Good' Rating (July 2018).

Millard House is beautifully refurbished, has CCTV for peace of mind & is set within charming garden areas which includes a new area for children.

The home's friendly team of fully trained staff strive to ensure residents' rights, choices and care needs are met with dignity and respect and to the highest possible standard. Chefs offer a choice of fresh homemade meals, desserts and cakes for all dietary needs.

Millard House's activity coordinator maintains a varied activity programme to ensure everyone is kept socially and mentally active throughout the day, the home also enjoys visits from entertainers and shows on a regular basis.

The home offers day care services with a full range of activities and have close links with community organisations and school groups and works closely with GP's, district nurses and other professionals to ensure the wellbeing of residents.

Residents can enjoy the home's large gardens which are wheelchair accessible and user friendly with a courtyard area containing raised flower beds.

My mum joined Millard House at the end of March and I can honestly say that I am so happy with her transition. The staff are so caring and keep me informed on any issues, as I can only see her once a week at the moment. I enjoy their Facebook posts showing residents having fun in the numerous activities
they do. Thoroughly recommend!

My mum became a resident in January this year. I have only ever found the staff and management to be very kind and friendly. It's been very difficult with the Covid situation, but my mum has always seemed really happy, and I've always been able to reassure her if she has had a bad day. I would highly
recommend Millard House care home. Always so much for my mum to do.

We moved my mother here after a short stay in hospital to recuperate. Initially, we weren't entirely comfortable with doing this as she had had always lived on her own and we thought it might not work out. We needn't have worried. The staff have been excellent - always very kind, helpful and attentive.
They have taken very good care of her and she has greatly improved during her stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone considering residential care for a resident.

The staff go the extra mile to make the residents happy. I've not seen my mum this happy for years. She has settled in really well and has nothing but praise for everyone. The small things like painting her nails, putting cream on her dry skin and staff spending time talking about her life and interests.
I can't thank you enough.

Some care homes are like hospitals, quiet and sombre, unlike Millard House. Anyone who has had a friend or relative at Millard House will associate the home with fun, in fact, I would say it's more like an all-inclusive hotel. There is a happy atmosphere as soon as you enter, be it from staff or residents.
Entertainment and activities keep residents amused all the time. During the COVID crisis outside entertainment has not been possible, but staff have picked up the baton and carried on, be it bingo, skittles, or a good old fashioned sing-a-long. No, care homes are not about Palacious surroundings and marble pillars, they're about happiness and joy and Millard has that in spades.

My mum has Alzheimer' and I had to make the hard decision for her to go into a care home for her safety and wellbeing. I was fortunate enough for Millard House to have space to take her as a permanent resident. Since going there my mum has flourished with their care. She does activities like art and
crafts which she has never done in her life, she has fantastic social interaction with the staff and residents and whenever I see photos and videos of her on Facebook her face radiates happiness. The greatest thing to see is her dancing as she has always loved that. During the Covid lockdown, Mum was always fretful and sad at home but now she always tells us how happy she is. Her Alzheimer’s has not changed but her quality of life has improved 100%. The staff have looked after her personal care and hygiene, which was another thing I could not get her to do at home, but now she looks fresh as a daisy. The food is amazing as well and Mum looks a picture of health.

Our father was placed in Millard House in late September 2020. He was welcomed with open arms, and our experience with Millard House staff in the last 2-months has been absolutely brilliant. Extremely kind, caring, friendly staff who have time to listen not only to us but to my father as well. He has
been through an extremely hard time in the last 4-years, but the amazing staff look after him so well and have bought our Dad back to smiling, laughing and joking again. He says he is so happy there and would not return to his home. A massive thank you to everyone for making our Dad happy.

Millard House is a truly lovely residence, with a relaxing outlook set in very pleasant surroundings. The staff I have had the pleasure to deal with are all exceptional, taking pride in their work and showing how much they care. Residents are treated with respect and understanding, and in my experience,
extra effort is made to accommodate any special requirements both of the residents themselves and their families.
Special mention must go to the lady in the office and the deputy manager. I have personally been impressed with their efforts and dedication in dealing with Dad, who can need extra attention at times. The staff have gone out of their way to make Dad comfortable, to ensure he enjoys his new surroundings, and more generally to make his whole experience as enjoyable as possible.
I am happy to recommend Millard House, and thank everybody for their kindness generally and the care they provide for Dad.

In reference to Millard House, from my experience, dealing and visiting over the last 9-years have only been positive. Many changes have been made to the home, to make it more friendly for the residents. Staff have always been courteous and caring. Management could have better stability in regards to
consistency as many have come and gone.
