Moulsham Home has an ideal location for those wishing to maintain an active lifestyle, with many amenities within walking distance. The home caters for 23 residents and has an excellent trading history that spans over 40 years. The home caters for the elderly over 65 years.

They provide 24-hour care in a safe environment with all entry and exit doors operating a key fob system. The bedrooms available are single, single ensuite and shared, all with a nursecall sensor for extra safety of the clients during the night. The home employs a chef seven days a week to cater for any dietary requirements that are required. The menu is based around traditional English food and the menu is vast. Breakfast always includes a full English daily made fresh to order.

There is a visiting chiropodist, hairdresser, optician and library service. Daily activities consist of painting, quizes, jigsaws, ball games and shopping outings, as well as visiting entertainers. Entertainers visit the home monthly and there is a wide range, including singers, animal therapy, magicians and comedians. There are two cats at the home, as well as tortoises and a fish tank.

Moulsham home is in an ideal location for access to the town centre of Chelmsford and it is a short and pleasant walk to the local regiment museum.

The manager and her mother run an excellent care home. Always friendly and they really consider the needs of all who stay.

This is an updated review to my earlier review from last year.
My Mother has been in this home since Feb 2013.


She has Late stage Alzheimers and now needs complete care and although she has a shared light and bright bedroom, staff ensure sure she is up and dressed and in the lounge where she can

see the comings and goings. The care she receives is excellent.


She has benefited greatly from being in a small home with only 19 residents that has the same senior staff as when she arrived.


Visitors are always welcome and there are no restrictions on when you can visit. There are activities and regular visits from entertainers and weekly visits from a hairdresser.


I would not hesitate to recommend the home others.

Our Mum has dementia and has been in the home for over six years. We have been extremely pleased with her care during that time. She is always very clean and well presented even now when she is confined to bed. The staff are kind, friendly and patient and always inform us if Mum is unwell or there is
any other issue. We cannot thank the staff enough for the care she has received.

When my mother had to go into a care home it was a very emotional time. The staff and management made this very easy for us. All the carers are extremely kind to my mother and it is so nice when they come into her room, her face lights up. My mother is now full time in bed, they check on her regularly,
making sure she is drinking and okay. We cannot fault the care she receives, when she has to go to hospital, the carers were as upset as us. We can go about our lives knowing that everything that can be done for my mother is done. We have no worries about her care and feel extremely lucky to have her there.

Mum has been a resident for over 6 years. The staff are very kind and friendly and there is a homely feel about the place. We as a family feel welcomed and can call in as often as we like. We feel very pleased that mum was able to move in when we could no longer manage her care at home.

Staff are always pleasant and helpful. Residents are very well cared for. Rooms are beautifully clean. The manager is always happy to talk to you. I can compare Moulsham Residential Home to another very good home but this one goes the extra mile. An excellent home very pleased.

Every time we visit mum, she is always clean and tidy. She says the food is good, and when we are there it always smells appetising. There has never been any horrible smell from any of the residents, or the home. Some of the ones that we visited, we couldn't wait to get out. We are always offered tea/coffee.
Staff are all very friendly and helpful to mum, who can be difficult at times. We are really happy for her to be there.

My father suffers from dementia and parkinsons and requires quite a lot of care and help. He has settled in well here. The team are very helpful and considerate to my dad. We're very pleased that we chose this home and would certainly recommend it. Overall we are very happy.

My mother lived alone in Manchester and was deteriorating slowly. I had been looking at care homes since August 2014, when I met the manager of Moulsham Home. Straight away with no appointment she took me around, I felt welcome. Mum was moved to the home in March 2015, it was a very difficult time for
her, they made the transition so welcoming and were excellent with my mother who took quite a while to settle. The carers met her needs and support her through it, also us as a family were supported through it too. Nothing is too much trouble. The kitchen staff always make us feel welcome with cups of tea. I would definitely recommend Moulsham for its love and care they have shown my mum who now has settled and happy.
