A wonderful care home! My mum stayed here for 3 weeks while my dad had an op. The staff are amazing so kind and nothing is too much trouble! Mum always seemed happy when we visited and always had a smile for all the carers. I had no worries whilst my mum was here as I knew she was getting the best care.
The management was so lovely. So helpful if we needed anything. I would not hesitate to recommend The Oaks. A lovely home with a very caring staff.

Thank you so much, was an absolute pleasure to care for your mum, and so wonderful to meet you all. I Hope Dad has fully recovered from his op, the residents miss chatting with him when he visited.

Absolutely wonderful staff and home.
Words can never express how kind and compassionate they have been towards my mum. Mum's health recently declined significantly, and they have always gone far and above to make her comfortable, and nothing has ever been too much trouble.
My sincerest thanks to
everyone there. I have nothing but praise and admiration for them all.
Wonderful home.

This is the second care home my mother has been in, and it is so different from the first. I and other family members have always found the staff very welcoming. It has a very homely feel to it. The new activities coordinator is doing an amazing job. The manager is happy to discuss any concerns, and
I feel I am kept well in the loop with regards to my mother's care. The staff have been amazing during the pandemic, utilising a Facebook group and video calls to keep relatives in touch with their loved ones. My mother has been there just over two years, and I am very comfortable in the knowledge that she is in a safe and caring environment. I would not want her to be anywhere else.

My brother has been a resident in The Oaks care home for over two years.
He is very happy and very well cared for. The home is well run by the manager, and all the staff are friendly and work very hard to provide a high standard of care.
We are kept fully informed of any concerns they have and any
changes in his health.
The activity programme is amazing, so many different programmes are organised to keep the residents stimulated and entertained.
We feel reassured that The Oaks is a safe, happy and caring home.

After a rocky period at the end of 2017, the new manager and assistant manager supporting an excellent team of care staff, have turned the home around. The care staff are very caring and considerate, cherry and respectful. There is a dedicated member of staff responsible for activities on weekday mornings
and other activities happen around Easter, Christmas, the summer etc. The food is nutritious and varied. I am very pleased with the care given.

The staff are the strong point and this is important as how they treat my wife is crucial to my opinion. They work together, undertaking various jobs e.g personal care, cooking, cleaning without apparent disharmony. It probably helps that I believe most are residents locally - one has been there since
the home started 14 years ago. The manager must be good at people management.

This is a home with mainly elderly residents with a variety of problems. It is well managed and staff are competent and caring.
My wife and I, together with other family members who visited, were always made welcome on an informal basis.
We felt comfortable that my mother in law was well looked
after, in often difficult circumstances because of her Dementia.

We came over for 2 days from Germany to visit our mum and we were surprised how good she was looked after. The staff got her in the lift to put her in the wheelchair so we got some privacy with her. Very friendly. Thanks for the tea!

The service you get - is very good for the budget they get.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.197)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.197) out of 10 for The Oaks is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.739 for The Oaks is calculated as follows: ( (19 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.739

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.458 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Oaks is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.333

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
