Set in a leafy, residential area in Laindon, just outside of Basildon, Oaklands Care Home is a well presented and modern setting which prides itself on delivering high quality and person-centred residential and residential dementia care.

Inside, the home boasts cosy living areas, en suite bedrooms and welcoming dining rooms which have all been carefully designed to offer a relaxing and comfortable space for residents to enjoy. The hairdressing salon and treatment room provide further opportunities for relaxation and the lovely garden space is the ideal spot for spending time with friends and family.

By getting to know each individual resident at Oaklands, the team work hard to ensure life at the home is engaging and enjoyable. From the varied activities programme to taking trips out and about, every day is filled with fun and laughter. And for residents who prefer the peace and quiet, alone time is fully respected too, with involvement in activities never forced.

Mum seems very settled and happy here. Staff have been extremely helpful to us and Mum during this difficult transition from being at home to going into care. Mum is always well dressed and looks clean and tidy. Hair is always done her room is always clean and tidy.

My dad came in in a bit of a state, after a few weeks he gained weight and looked more like his old self. Anytime I wanted to speak to him on the phone the staff were more than happy to take the phone to him. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

My mother came here 4 weeks ago, everybody has been extremely friendly. Her room is spotless and was made to feel very homely when she arrived.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
A little more interaction with the patients would be nice.

It's very difficult to comment under Covid restrictions, but when I do visit Dad he is always happy, clean in himself and his room, we look forward to visiting as we used to.
All staff are very friendly and helpful and always obtain a lovely cup of tea.

On viewing the home for the first time I found it to be exceptional. I found it to be clean and has a great feel and atmosphere about it. I'm impressed by the high standard and professional service given. The staff are very kind and friendly the show genuine care for the residence.

We have had problems in the past week, lack of care and cleanliness. The staff and management now are better than they have ever been and pleased to say Mum is well looked after. Some of the staff treat her like family, which is lovely, as this hasn't always been the case.

Over the last few months, my father's health has declined. All staff here have been marvellous dealing with a very old self-opinionated man. They all respect his wishes and are in constant contact with myself. Dad is now confined to his room, which is his choice. He eats and drinks very little, and
staff are constantly popping in to see him.

Ref, Covid etc... restrictions in 2020-21.
When did have a visit, the door to the visiting room wouldn't open, so visits had to be cancelled.
Overall care is satisfactory, do think though very expensive. Let's hope going forward 2021 - 2022 is better.

Lovely to see my auntie in her own room with her photos around her. She said (repeated at various points during our visits) how happy she is with living here. Staff are friendly and caring, food is good, she can choose to be in her own room or sociable depending on her choices, not being told.
