Overall Experience

My sister has only been at Oaklands just over 2 weeks. She has settled in well. She is a solitary person and appreciates her privacy so I am very pleased her wishes are respected. She finds the majority of the staff helpful and considerate. The few problems she has had moving from a previous home have

been dealt with efficiently and with kindness and consideration.

Overall Experience

I have found this care home very friendly and caring with a few problems with my Mum at first. Was cared with compassion and understanding. I have found the staff very caring to my Mu and myself, so much so I feel like a friend now.

Overall Experience

My husband has only been in Oaklands for just over a week now. We, me and my family, have found everyone to be incredibly welcoming and helpful. The whole team have supported us through this hard transition and continue to ensure my husband's needs are met. The rooms are homely and my husband is safe

and happy.

Overall Experience

Very early days at the moment, as this review is only one month in from my sister coming into Oaklands. Previous to this she was in sheltered accommodation living on her own, sadly had no friends as such, very depressed, anxious and stressed out all the time. In under a month at Oaklands, there has

been an amazing improvement with my sister. Controlled medication must have helped, but I feel all the staff have been excellent and have been a major factor with this improvement.

Overall Experience

Since moving to Oaklands Care Home there has been an improvement in my mother-in-law's demeanour. Having lived on her own within sheltered accommodation she was lonely due to the fact she is not mobile. Mixing with others in Oaklands has brought all her emotions back, as she talks to others, laughs

and debates with others, she is so much more social. She enjoys the bingo and handling various animals that are brought in, she even touched a snake. She is also eating better and she is more mobile being encouraged by the staff. This is an improvement to her life.

Overall Experience

My aunt was placed at Oaklands Care Home in July. She had loved at her local authority residence with her late husband for 50 years. I was concerned that she would be extremely distressed but the staff have been wonderful. She is enjoying the food and entertainment and keeping well hydrated.

My sister and I have been visiting our Dad from Australia so our review only relates to our 2 weeks visit. We have found all the staff very professional, caring and extremely helpful. Our Dad is obviously well cared for and happy. The majority of his needs appear to be met and any concerns we have will

Overall Experience

My mother was treated with care and respect, the staff have always been attentive and gentle. Her hair and fingernails were kept clean and she regularly had her nails painted. My mother was encouraged to join in the activities and loved singing to her favourite tunes. She loved the church services too.

There is always plenty to eat and drink.

Overall Experience

Overall I am very happy with the care at the home.
I know some residents like their doors closed but it does concern me.
My mum sometimes likes her door closed.
When I visit on a day like this and sit there for 2 hours or so and not one person knocked on the door to see if she was OK.
Each resident

needs to be allocated a carer and this should be their responsibility to check on their residents.
They may have fallen or anything behind a closed door.

Overall Experience

My father stayed at Oaklands as a private resident for approximately 5 weeks. The manager was extremely kind, considerate and professional and did all she could to make my father and the rest of the family welcomed. Two carers, in particular, provided most of the daily care, with one bonding particularly

well. All the personal interactions I personally experienced were faultless.
I believe that the manager and her team are doing a super job to turn Oaklands around.

Improved since new manager and deputy have been there since May 2017. My dad has been given the attention and management he needs. Staff are more aware of his needs (despite living there since January 2015). Dad is very happy and more settled too.

Overall Experience

Senior staff have recently been changed and the result of this is that great improvements have been made. There are regular relative meetings at which we can bring up any issues we have, care plans are now regularly updated and communication generally is better. The staff are very friendly and approachable,
