My mother passed away recently in the care home - peacefully and with dignity. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their round-the-clock thoughtful and thorough care of my mum. All staff were considerate, caring and respectful of her needs. The staff have also been exceptional in their care
of my father following the passing of my mother. The staff show genuine warmth towards my dad. They help him to occupy his time - concerts, bagatelle, and horse race activities are particularly welcomed by my dad - and give him space to reflect when he wishes this. The staff were very supportive of close family members too during this difficult time. I would not hesitate in recommending this residential home to anyone seeking to find a care home/caring environment to support their loved one.

My sister has been a resident at The New Deanery for over four years. My sister is well looked after and always seems happy. My sister loves the activities and trips in the minibus. The staff always have time for my sister and always have time to tell me how she is. My sister enjoys the food, which
is excellent and I often stay for lunch with her. We both enjoy the lovely grounds.

As soon as you enter, the cleanliness is apparent. My mum has been a resident for five years, and it is like walking into her home with lots of family present. Mum has just got over Covid and I can only applaud the staff for the care and support they gave. I would like to thank them all.

I stayed at The New Deanery for the 4th time this year and as before was looked after very well by all the staff. If I had any worries, someone came and sorted out the problem. The food was good and always a choice and if you didn't want that, they were happy to offer something else.
There were activities
to take part in and also a library if you wanted quiet time.
I was there for the Jubilee celebrations and everyone enjoyed the tea party with relations and friends.

Far too many negatives and not enough positives. Management appear to not be in control. Some carers at least try, others just say they are too busy to assist the resident.

Overall, The New Deanery management and staff, provide an excellent service and Mum is well cared for. However, on occasions, meals are delivered cold and not what has been ordered. Service could be improved by agreeing an individual 'likes & dislikes' with the residents and more attention to what has
been requested. Further, again, occasionally laundry is not actioned and returned in a timely manner and another resident's clothes are sometimes returned and placed in drawers, leading to frustration. A little more care and attention to detail would easily resolve the issue. Notwithstanding the two concerns, Mum is extremely happy at the care home and very much appreciates the dedicated service and care received.

My overall view of the New Deanery Care Home is outstanding, the care and attention to detail never cease to amaze me. During the past difficult times when staff were off with covid and people were working long hours to cover, the standard of care my mother received did not decline at all, which was
a credit not only to all the staff but how the home is managed. Communication is very good and I am kept totally in the loop, especially as my mother is suffering acute dementia and her behaviour is challenging. My mum is not easy to care for at this time but her needs are well supported by a skilful and highly trained team. I would highly recommend this establishment.

I do not believe that the care and support that my mother received during her stay at the New Deanery could have been bettered. She considered all the staff and carers as her friends and extended family. Although she resisted going into care, within days she was referring to The New Deanery as home
and was extremely happy and well cared for. While she was still mobile, she was taken out on trips which she thoroughly enjoyed. We cannot praise all the staff highly enough for the love, care and joy that they gave to my mother. On behalf of her family, I wish to give a huge thank you to all the staff at the New Deanery.

My mother passed away earlier this month after having spent 3 years at the New Deanery and I couldn't have wished for her to have received better care. I found the staff kind and attentive - in spite of the fact she could be a 'little' difficult at times and the room was always clean. I no longer live
in the UK and couldn't visit her as often as I would've liked, but the staff were superb in arranging for me to FaceTime with her. I've no hesitation in recommending this care home and can only hope that if I'm ever in the same situation, I receive the same level of care as she did. The affection shown to my mother was outstanding and I know how much she appreciated it.

I would like to thank and congratulate ALL members of staff, for the hard work and care provided throughout the last 7 months and the issues arising from the covid pandemic.


My aunt has been with the New Deanery for coming up a year, and her care would appear to excellent.


In such testing times,

we have been kept updated on a regular basis, and have visited when permitted. We have been fully supportive of the actions they have taken and the procedures put in place.


Their covid procedures are excellent and they have done a great job keeping everyone safe and well.

My aunt moved in here, having come from a retirement complex, as she needed care and help. She and I were made so welcome, and everything was done to help us settle her into a smaller 'apartment'. She was settled on a table for meals with the loveliest of ladies. I have always been made most welcome

My mum was here in respite for three weeks following several periods in hospital. The care was excellent. All staff, regardless of their role, were kind, caring, efficient and helpful. The room my mum was in was well equipped and comfortable. The food was very good and plentiful and because of that
mum now has her appetite back after a long period of 'not being bothered' to eat. I am a lot younger than nearly all of the residents there but will need help after orthopaedic surgery next year, and although I am not local, I will almost certainly be asking for a fortnight's respite care there myself.

The New Deanery has been a godsend to us. My mother-in-law was a resident for 15 months and was treated with the utmost respect. She was not the easiest of people and was fiercely independent and was respected for that in the case of her care. Everyone from the manager (who has the patience of a saint)
front of house staff always cheerful and ready to help. Deputy manager, senior carers and carers, kitchen staff, bistro and coffee lounge workers and cleaners always passed with a smile and a hello. I would definitely recommend this care home to anyone who has a relative needing caring with kindness.

Rachel

Rachel Marlow

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 1999

Rachel has worked at The New Deanery for over 25 years, starting as a Care Assistant and progressing her career with various promotions as Senior Carer, Team Leader, Deputy and eventually Home Manager.


Rachels' dedication and commitment to The New Deanery is very special indeed, and her passion for her residents and staff can be seen in everything she does. Having constant leadership has led others at the New Deanery to follow in her footsteps and progress their careers at the home which in turn ensures our residents have a stable and consistent team to care for them.


When asked why she chose a career in care, she said, 'I just wanted to make a difference in the lives of the elderly.' We can certainly say she has done that and more in her quarter-century of caring for those living and working at The New Deanery.


Outside of work, Rachel is an avid cricket fan and enjoys travelling with her family and friends (but not her two furry friends, her cats Oscar and Smudge!).
