I was, on arrival by care, greatly impressed by the building itself and the surrounding grounds.
I had not visited before. What I saw of the inside of The New Deanery I was more than greatly impressed. It was, neat, clean, quiet homely and felt comfortable from a visitors view.
The staff that I came

I checked several care homes before deciding that the New Deanery was best suited for my sister's care.
The standards are high and my sister's care is exemplary and all her needs are met.
The social life is extremely good and there is always something to do.

On my first visit to review The New Deanery I knew it was going to be a great place for dad.
It has a warm, friendly atmosphere with a variety of spaces to sit and enjoy a cuppa or join one of the many activities throughout the week.
Dad has gradually got more and more involved and it's great to
see him joining in and enjoying himself. Even if he doesn't always remember, it's about enjoying it "in the moment."

My father entered The New Deanery for a further 6 weeks post hospital assessment. He was very poorly after discharge. All the staff from "the top down" did their utmost to help dad in every possible way, always going beyond "the extra mile". He was always well cared for and the same staff were very
sad when dad finally had to go back into hospital due to an escalation of what was a failed discharge. One lovely staff member even shed tears after the ambulance got dear dad on board to go to hospital again. Thank you one and all. We view you all as friends.

Mine was an unplanned stay following the surprise fitting of a pacemaker a few days earlier.


My room is ideal as it looks directly out onto the garden. I anticipated that the attention would be excellent but I didn't expect the offer by your marvellous adventure team that included a local pub visit!


The

marks shown in the boxes are most justified but I was disappointed that even my knowledgeable friends were unable to give me mobile contact; I was thus unable to make necessary arrangements with anyone at home.


A less important matter is that the television programme choice is restricted, leading to me being an expert on the first thirty editions of Dad's Army - however worthwhile. Nothing though can reduce my overall impression of being made welcome by every member of staff. My thanks to you all.

I was a resident here arranged by social services while awaiting adaptations to my home after a long stay in hospital.
The New Deanery is clean, cheerful and welcoming. The staff, in general, are friendly, kind and helpful. The home seems to be run efficiently. My room although small was clean and
bright.
My only complaint was that getting even a small amount of medical help e.g changing a dressing was difficult. It wasn't clear who could and would do this.

My father moved into The New Deanery in December 2017. He had just been discharged from hospital and was still very unwell and I thought his days were numbered. He was unable to walk without staff support or do anything for himself. 3 months on and he has made a massive improvement, he can walk with
a frame, dress himself and mobilise around the home with confidence. This is all thanks to the wonderful care and support from the staff at The New Deanery. He has really settled in. Thank you all.

Since arriving at The New Deanery a couple of months ago my mother has regained her interest in life. She tells me that the staff cannot do enough for her whilst still encouraging her to further her independence and maintain her dignity. They have encouraged her to walk further and she takes part
in all of the very varied activities on offer, the range includes mental, physical, social and creative interests. Even after the planned activities have taken place sometimes the staff will do quizzes and sing songs with the residents. The food is good, hygiene is good and the grounds are lovely with good accessibility. There are also quiet lounges for those times when the residents want some peace for reading, doing puzzles etc. This is a very friendly Home with a welcoming atmosphere.

My husband has spent two separate weeks of respite care at The New Deanery this year. He is severely disabled after a massive stroke and is unable to communicate orally consequently needs a lot of care and support. He was warmly welcomed each time he visited The New Deanery. Detailed information on
his care requirements was provided and followed by the care staff, although he cannot talk he can remember some of the old songs and the staff would sing a long with him he was very happy there.

My mother enjoyed a week's respite to allow me to take a holiday. We were made very welcome and mum was very to stay. All meals were excellent and all staff and carers treated mum with respect and friendliness.
On a persona; view, it was great to be able to book a place for mum in advance of my holiday.

My father has been a resident at The New Deanery for two years now and I cannot praise staff enough. If there is ever the slightest issue it is dealt with immediately. The building and grounds are maintained to an excellent standard, the staff are kind and caring. There is an excellent entertainment
plan for the coming months, relatives are welcomed and involved and I am so, so glad this is my father's home.

Rachel

Rachel Marlow

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 1999

Rachel has worked at The New Deanery for over 25 years, starting as a Care Assistant and progressing her career with various promotions as Senior Carer, Team Leader, Deputy and eventually Home Manager.


Rachels' dedication and commitment to The New Deanery is very special indeed, and her passion for her residents and staff can be seen in everything she does. Having constant leadership has led others at the New Deanery to follow in her footsteps and progress their careers at the home which in turn ensures our residents have a stable and consistent team to care for them.


When asked why she chose a career in care, she said, 'I just wanted to make a difference in the lives of the elderly.' We can certainly say she has done that and more in her quarter-century of caring for those living and working at The New Deanery.


Outside of work, Rachel is an avid cricket fan and enjoys travelling with her family and friends (but not her two furry friends, her cats Oscar and Smudge!).
