Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court sits in the beautiful countryside of Essex, in a Grade II listed property with stunning period features dating back to 1825. The Home provides residential care and residential dementia support for up to 50 residents.

Residents can enjoy beautiful surrounding grounds which includes a golf course, woodlands, a walled garden and an inner courtyard. The Home has two golf buggies (one specially adapted for wheelchair use) used as Safari Shuttles.

The house itself and the surrounding grounds are lovely and I think this is what influences people to stay there. If you are relatively fit and able to take care of yourself, then it is probably OK for those people. A bit like staying in a hotel. Everything is done for you, meals provided, no worries.


However,

if you actually need any care, I would suggest this is not a good place to be. In the dementia unit, which used to have a high staff to resident ratio, our experience was that the care was generally poor and that, with the exception of a few staff at ground level, no one did care very much. I know that not too much can be said in this review otherwise, it will be censored or removed. Suffice to say, if the chance were given to me again I would definitely not arrange for my father in law to go into this home.


Sadly, I understand that the care provided was excellent prior to 2016.

Prince Edward Duke of Kent at Stisted is fab. The staff do everything and more for my mum. It's in a fab location. The care is five star. The place does not look like a care home but a small hotel. Everything is so clean. The place does not smell at all, no stains on the carpets. Lots of things for
them to do if they can or want. Visits out to the local beach. The have their own mini bus, food seems good and they have choices. Laundry very quickly done. The staff are very kind and patient.

A most comfortable and caring place to reside, wonderful staff and a magnificent setting. The standard of care given to all the residents be they mentally or physically disabled is first class. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff or management in making Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court a truly
good place to live and work.

My Aunt has dementia and has been living in the Dementia Support Unit for just over 2 years. She is extremely happy and settled - which wasn't the case in her previous home. There is a very high ratio of staff to residents and all of them are extremely caring and really "know" their residents. Nothing
is too much trouble for them and I consider myself very lucky that my aunt is in such a secure and friendly place.

The care here is wonderful, they provide plenty of activities for those who want it but also respect the wishes of residents who do not.
Carers also find time when they can to chat to the residents. My mother was at first extremely reluctant but knew it was a decision she had to make. She has nothing
but praise for the home.

My mother has been a resident for six years, I can't express enough how pleased we are with the way she has been looked after. On the few occasions that she has been unwell the staff have cared for her as if she were their own family.
When carers have a spare moment they will take time to sit and
chat to the residents and make them feel comfortable and important. Mother's room could be better but is adequate for her needs. The food is excellent and highly suitable for the elderly. We feel totally relaxed knowing that she is in safe hands.

A lovely, well decorated old house with lovely garden views and a peaceful ambience.
The staff are all wonderful, very friendly and obviously caring. Someone always seems to be 'popping in' just to say help or just for a quick chat and confirmation if anything is wanted.
When my mother died, after
being ill for a short while, they were absolutely fantastic looking after my father, and myself on occasions.
My father is very happy here and is always saying how thankful he is that he came. I would recommend this home to anyone.

All staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating to visitors and care for and look after our auntie very well. There are lots of things to do for her and she is encouraged go out on group trips. She is in the best place possible and gets the stimulation she needs. She is at last eating well again,
too. We can't thank the staff enough for all they do.

When I wanted a fresh challenge, I thought I’d explore working for the RMBI Care Co. as I’d heard only positive things about its care ethos and support for its teams. I’m very pleased I did.

I’m passionate about providing the highest standards of care and working with the team to maintain Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court's 'Good' rating. Ours is a lovely home to live and work in, with its acres of beautiful gardens set in the middle of a golf course on the outskirts of Braintree, and it’s a huge privilege to work here and be leading the team. We are always striving to deliver professional, and individual care services which make a real difference in the resident's daily lives.

We strive to be Kind, to our residents, their families and each other because we are passionate about how we deliver care. We believe everyone should be treated with dignity and their wishes respected at all times.

We are supportive in our approach to care, placing residents at the heart of all we do. We treat each person as an individual, recognising the things that are important to them and working as a team to achieve this.

We are trusted, open and honest in delivering care to Freemasons, their dependents and the wider communities and work closely with our residents and their families to offer a safe environment.

In my free time, I like to spend quality time with my grandchildren, eat out and enjoy swimming.

I have worked for the RMBI for just over 18 years, it is a fantastic organisation to work for. The home is an amazing site to see when you drive up to the home through the golf course and the home emerges through the trees.

I started here as a carer and then slowly progressed to more senior positions over the years in supporting and meeting the needs of all of our residents in a positive and person-centred way, ensuring that we provide care to a high standard. The residents are at the centre of all we do to ensure that their time here is a happy and fulfilling one.

I feel privileged to have met and known so many of our past and present residents, getting to know what they used to do growing up and meeting their extended families.

It is always lovely to see families return when we have events that support the home.

We strive to embed our values of KInd, support and Trust towards all our residents, families and staff alike.

The home has a really happy feel to it and is much like home from home.
