Our father has been a resident for five years and passed away recently. Throughout his stay at the home, he has always been well cared for, and all the staff have been excellent as well as friendly and approachable, particularly so as he approached the end of his life. The home is welcoming and well
cared for.

My mother-in-law was transferred from the hospital and spent several months as a resident.
I found the care was very good during some difficult times. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. My mother-in-law's husband, who only has 10% vision, would visit daily and was helped immensely by everyone.
The manager was nearly always available, and the communication was excellent. She was always happy to help, very pleasant and honest.

My grandmother was transferred to Southminster Residential Home, following a stay in hospital. As this was during the pandemic, access was limited, and we weren't able to visit or see her very much, which was a concern. As the restrictions lifted, we were reassured by her good care and impressed by
the bright, clean and sunny room she had been allocated. After a year of being a resident, I was grateful to have been with her at the very end, and the care from the staff was nothing short of exceptional. They treated her with dignity and as if she was their family. They were kind and loving towards Nan, and we could not have been more grateful for their wonderful care and support of us as a family on that day.

My mum stayed here for the last few months of her life.


We thought she would be there longer, but the isolation of lockdown took its toll. I had absolutely no doubt that she was very well looked after, and I've never been to a care home before that smelled so nice. It's a lovely old building, but

the rooms are modern and some are quite unique. The staff are loving and friendly.


My sister and I were very comfortable with her staying there.

My mum resides at Southminster. 
We have always been very happy with the high standards and quality of care given to mum and demonstrated on our many visits.
The manager and her team do a wonderful job, in what, I'm sure are not always easy circumstances.


I would also mention a letter that our

granddaughter wrote to her great nanny, and the reply she received from the home.
It's hard to read the letter without a tear in the eye, she is nine today, and her great nanny 98! 
How especially lovely, to get a reply.
That someone has taken the time, on great nannies behalf, means the world to her, it's very special.


In such difficult and stressful times, it is exactly refreshing acts like this that concentrate the mind on things that really matter, care, compassion, kind acts and help for one another.
It's special to us too, as we understand this highlights the nature of the people working at the home and so shines favourably on them all.
We rest assured of the care given by the team here.

My mother needed 24hr residential care following a period of hospitalization, and we were lucky that a vacancy was found for her at Southminster Residential Home.
Given the current Covid-19 situation, there probably could not have been a more difficult time for her need to happen.
The home has risen
to the challenge with very carrying staff working under extreme conditions under the excellent leadership and management.
During these times it has only been possible to arrange a Garden or Window meeting with my mother.
Very pleased that my mother is safe and in the best place for her to be in at her time of life.

The care given to my mum during her 15months stay was exemplary in every aspect. Her needs were very demanding of staff time and they always responded with patience and kindness. The staff team are skilled and they have such a positive attitude to what can be a very physically and mentally challenging
role. They really get to know and spend time developing relationships with their residents, which meant that mum’s anxiety and fears were removed and she ended her days with dignity, comfortable and contented.

This residential home is very very good. It has a personal feel rather like that of family. The residents are treated like people which is refreshing to see. The home makes sure that there is full integration and the residents know they are part of the family. The home doesn't see the residents as numbers
or things just to feed and get to bed, they treat them like your own mum and dad. The staff are warm and friendly and when you go in you don't feel like a visitor but a relative that's special. Well done, Southminster Residential Home.

I moved my mum from another care home to Southminster Residential Home about 18 months ago, and I am glad I did. The team of carers that work there are a credit to both the home and to the profession. They regularly go above and beyond for their residents and genuinely care about their wellbeing. There
is a morning and afternoon activities co-ordinator, a chef that makes varied and tasty food, and a welcoming homely environment. The home has an "open door" policy, so anyone can visit at any time, and there is always a member of management around. The manager and deputy work tirelessly and are proud of the improved CQC rating the home now has.

Always a warm welcome. Helpful, friendly and caring. All the staff are friendly, polite and always willing to help, advise and console if needed. This is a well run residential home in which my father is receiving very caring and dignified care. I go home knowing he is in the best place for him.

My Aunt, who has dementia, has been in Southminster Residential Home since July 2019, and we’ve always found the level of her care very good and the staff extremely caring, kind and professional.
When my Aunt went into the care home, she was very frail, confused and distressed, but within a few weeks
in their care, she gained weight, became less confused and is now more calm and settled.
Living quite a distance from the home, we only manage to visit her about once a month, this is usually unannounced, yet we always find the care home very clean. My aunt receiving good attention and often activities going on, to entertain and stimulate the residents.
Often there’s a lovely aroma coming from the kitchen where the home-cooked meals are being prepared by the staff; there’s certainly a very good choice of food for the residents to choose and it always looks delicious.
Some redecoration is required as the buildings old, but it’s clean, well managed, and we’re more than happy with the care provided.

When we visited the care home for the first time we found a friendly family environment very welcoming. The ladies all had time to spend with each guest and were readily available to assist when necessary. Dad moved into this environment and being a quiet mand took some time to mix.
The ladies were
encouraging and gradually he took part in the daily activities. I still visit in appreciation of the transition.

We have our mother (and did have our father) in here. It’s an old building so it’s difficult to make it look smart but that’s way less important than the quality of care, which is impressive. The manager and the team all show a huge amount of respect and care for all in their care. There is always something
going on for the residents and the communicative ones always say how happy and cared for they are. It’s important to note that the manager has her mother and mother-in-law there which shows how much trust she places in the care team when she’s not there.

This residential home is great the care and treatment are next to none my wife has been in here for 3 years. I have no complaints the staff are great kind and most helpful if you want to know anything they will tell you or find out for you. The lady in charge is wonderful I would recommend this home

The care given to my wife, as she first had respite care then went on to receive full-time care, at this establishment was second to none.
