My close and dear friend of over 40 years spent the last 4 years of his life at the Southminster Residential Home. The manager and her staff are excellent in the uplifting and caring way they treat residents. I feel very heart warmed by the care and attention given to my friend. I'm profoundly grateful,
when for example, some months ago my friend was very unwell the staff so caringly looked after him and enabled him to recover. There aren't words enough to say how much I appreciate the care given to my friend. On two occasions, I spent some considerable time with my friend and felt that at all times, the staff treated residents with uplifting care and consideration. The staff do care very much about the residents.
I wish to offer the deepest and profound thanks to the manager and all her staff.

My 97 year old mother has been here now for over two years after a fall at home and breaking her hip.
She has dementia issues and has differing mood swings so you never know what to expect from her when you visit her, which I do on a weekly basis.
This care home was known to us due to my father in
law being there some 12 years ago. My wife who is a retired nurse and spent many years working in mental health care chose this home over 3 others that we had checked out after being very impressed by the overall standards that she saw on her visit.
The home today still has many staff from when my father in law was there. They work extremely hard ensuring that the residents are well cared for and with a smile.
The meals there are first class, I have had lunch on a few occasions and it's all fresh produce even down to meat from a local butcher.
To conclude, I'm more than happy with the care and love and attention my mother receives in her final years of her amazing life.

This care home is obviously centred on the provision of exceptional care for residents and the staff are attentive to their needs.
The care given is high quality and the ethos of the provider is one of inclusion and communication to ascertain wellbeing and needs: physical and emotional.
Activities
are arranged to engage, entertain and motivate the residents.
The atmosphere in the home is one of activity and it has an airiness and freshness about it.
The food is good and wholesome and dietary needs are individually designed to the individual.
The resident's rooms are clean and fresh with tasteful decoration.
If any concerns arise they are dealt with quickly.
Unsurprisingly, CQC has rated the home as good in all categories.

I would recommend Southminster to anyone looking for a friendly home-from-home. Southminster has a lovely relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff, who all put my Mum at ease as soon as she arrived. Mum was very distressed, confused and unhappy, but within a week was smiling, putting on weight and
had formed new friendships with staff and other residents.
Had I or my sister lived within an hour's drive of Southminster, we would have been very happy for Mum to stay there indefinitely. The food is excellent and plentiful, the home clean and fresh. Mum enjoyed the organised activities and the opportunity to sit in the garden on warm days. I was also made to feel very welcome whenever I visited and enjoyed an excellent Sunday dinner with Mum. The Southminster staff are very thoughtful and fit in as much as they can with their residents' personal preferences. We were very sad to leave Southminster. A big thank you to all the staff for caring for Mum so well.

I am so pleased that we decided on Southminster for my mother. She had complex needs and was deteriorating when she arrived. At Southminster, they were able to address those needs and help her to cope with the challenges of her condition. She made good friends among the staff and felt that she was part
of a big family. She had a light, airy room with windows that allowed her to see outside even when she was confined to bed. As she became very unwell and I needed to spend a lot more time with her, I was made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble to support me. The manager and staff were very keen to make sure I was eating and I had lunch there many times. All the meals were very good, home cooked and plentiful. The only downside was the distance from home but I was happy to driver further in order for Mother to be at the right place. I can't fault the care that was given to her, and especially the sensitivity and professionalism at the very end.

Our relative has been in the home since 2013 and we have always found the staff acting in a professional manner with the welfare of the residents always as priority.
All care given with respect to the resident and we feel very happy in how our relative is looked after. One can go away for a break knowing
that the family member is in very good hands. We are kept informed of any changes in circumstances and how the change is being dealt with.
Staff always very happy and welcoming to both residents and visitors and one can visit at any time without previous notifying the office.

Mum has been in Southminster Care Home since November 2016. I have always been very happy with the care she receives and more importantly Mum is happy. She is always pleased to see the carers who look after her and smiles when she sees them. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone with
an elderly parent.
