Tucked away, in a secluded forest surrounding, Wensley House is located just a stone’s throw from the charming town centre of Epping.

All en-suite (some also with wet rooms) personalised rooms, a modern nurse call system, an advanced addressable fire alarm (pinpoints by exact location), and a gated development to allow for walks and an outdoor lifestyle and dining are just some of the things that make this a welcome home.

Be it the Oak Room, with warm oak walls where you can receive entertainers, enjoy movies, religious services, or the Garden Room, with end-to-end patio doors bringing the summer indoors, the airy conservatory to share with new resident budgies, or the dining room for all day refreshments and a choice of meals freshly prepared by a chef on the premises (top five star food hygiene rating) there is always a place to relax.

Friendly and warm staff really care about what they do and take pride in supporting you as you maintain both dignity and independence and regularly form close bonds with the residents and families. As a small, family run business, the directors are also here on a daily basis to support the staff and residents in the provision of excellent care. Staff receive all required checks and commence under review status for several months shadowing experts supported with advanced training with industry experts before becoming part of the team.

  • Wensley House have an open door policy and welcome visitors to come and have a look around and perhaps enjoy some tea and biscuits if time permits. It is advised to look at more than one home and to be sure to visit any home of interest as this normally gives a true feel of a place, which is what really gives the idea of a place more than anything else.

I have found the staff and management very caring and helpful. My mother has confidence in everything that is being done for her. After living alone for a while they have done everything they can to make her stay as pleasant as possible.

I would recommend the care home where my mother lives. The staff are always friendly and my mother gets along with all of them, which is so reassuring to know she is in good hands.

When my mother first came to Wensley House we had issues, but the management listened to us and acted upon them to our satisfaction, and now I have only good things to say about Wensley House. 10 out of 10.

My step mum has lived in three other care homes in the area, since my dad passed away in 2010.
She would not settle in the other three, this is the one where she feels cared for and settled to date.
The home is always welcoming and a high standard of care seen carried out, very pleased with the owner
and how he runs the home.

This is a wonderful care home and believe me I’ve visited a lot. It’s certainly the best in the area in my opinion. It is clean, well presented and safe. Staff are amazing. They are kind and caring and all have a good sense of humour. They treat residents with dignity and respect. Residents are well
looked after and very well fed. We take my father out regularly but he often doesn’t want to leave as the food is so good. The eating area is very pleasant as is the conservatory area where residents are treated to hair treatments. The only downside that I can see is the lack of time outside. However, I can understand this, as older people don’t cope well in the heat or the cold so finding the balance is difficult. The owner is present a lot and clearly genuinely cares. I strongly recommend this home.

I can only recommend Wensley House exceptionally. All the staff are warm, friendly and know all the residents so well. The facilities offer a "home from home" experience that is comfortable, excellent food and care. The residents are kept entertained with activities and one to one 'chats'. Wensley is
fantastic value for money and my Mum relaxed and loved her time there. The bedrooms are a good size, airy and always clean, as are the day rooms. This privately-run home offers so much more. Well run, well priced and highly recommended.

Wensley House is a very well run residence. Their best asset is their staff who we found to be faultless in their attention and care given to my father who I felt was extremely well looked after at all time.

I have found Wensley House to be a well-run care home with good management. The staff are friendly, helpful and aware of residents and relatives needs. Accommodation is comfortable and clean. Mum came to the home in March. It appears her needs are being met. The home is always very clean. My mum has said she enjoys the food and there is enough.


One concern we have is that on our visits, there doesn't seem to be many activities going on and Mum expresses that she is bored.

We find the staff here very obliging and very friendly, always helpful and will do anything. Nothing is too hard. They always offer tea or coffee or juice to relatives who are visiting. The owner is a lovely man, always helpful and willing to answer questions, likewise, staff. They allow visiting
time any time for as long as you like apart from midday meal times. They don't push you out, and security is very very good and secure. Lovely grounds, well kept and very clean environment, Glad we chose this residential home.

I cannot praise the staff and owner of Wensley House enough for their care, compassion, manners and professionalism which I witnessed when I went to visit my good friend when he was a resident here. Sadly, my friend has now passed away but I felt I had to write this review because, as a nurse by profession
myself, I was so impressed with their level of care and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart because I never worried about my friend being in their care.
