Cavell Lodge is a prestigious purpose-built residential home providing the highest level of residential care for older people, in quality surroundings.

The home is located just a few miles from the 'Golden Mile' front at Southend, is easily accessible by local transport and is close to both shops and park lands.

The aims of Cavell Lodge are to maximise residents’ quality of life by enabling each resident to live according to his/her individual needs and wishes, and to ensure that each resident’s independence, privacy and personal dignity are maintained and respected.

Facilities at the home include two spacious lounges, one on the ground floor and on on the first floor, both tastefully decorated and furnished. A spacious dining room on the ground floor has patio doors leading to a conservatory overlooking the gardens.

The dining room is just the place to enjoy the excellent choice of home-cooked food. Special diets are catered for.

There is a choice of beautifully decorated bedrooms, with en-suite facilities. Each room has a nurse call system, with a television point. All residents are encouraged to bring their own pictures, ornaments or any other items that will make their room their home.

Cavell Lodge provides a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with flexible routines and activities should residents wish to participate. All activities within the home are chosen by the residents such as film nights, quizzes and exercise to music.

My mother has been a service user since January 2018 and I have to say the care she receives is first class . The staff are compassionate and dedicated, led by a fantastic senior team. The manager's attention to detail in the running of Cavell Lodge is exceptional and as a family, we couldn’t be happier
with the level of care my mum receives. Every day there are activities for the residents to enjoy, from pot painting and plant potting to singing and film mornings. she also enjoys having a manicure and having her hair done once a week. The activity coordinator is passionate and engaging and makes the sessions fun and interesting, there is always something going on at Cavell Lodge. I know my mum is really looking forward to the royal wedding in May as she is getting involved in the organisation of a garden party to celebrate. I highly recommend Cavell Lodge and I feel safe in the knowledge that my mum is getting the very best care available. Thank you to all the team involved in her care.

My nan has been a resident of Cavell Lodge since early 2017. I find all the staff to be most attentive, kind and caring towards all the residents. I have to particularly highlight that since the new manager took over the difference has been incredible. He works tirelessly to improve the quality of staff
and care and he has done a tremendous job, thank you.

Our mother's physical and mental health has improved enormously since living at Cavell, which is as a direct result of the consistent professional standard of care provided by ALL levels of staff at Cavell Lodge. On every random visit, we see our lovely Mother being treated respectfully, as an individual
and with GENUINE affection, which we feel has been key to the improvement we see in her physical well-being, her self-esteem and confidence. It is an enormous comfort to the family that she is being given the best possible chance to live as happily as possible at this difficult stage of her life. We know her needs will change over time and have confidence that the care provided will keep pace with her changing needs. Our Mother has settled in very quickly to living at Cavell Lodge.

My mum has been in the nursing home for nearly two years. Overall they have done a lot to help my mum come to terms with the changes in her life. She will be 92 in February, I myself and family do everything we can to help her with the long days. The care staff are lovely and do their best for everybody.
I am so lucky to have my mum at Carvel Nursing Home. It's never easy when your mum can never do anything for herself, she still has a brain and can communicate and is a very strong person. Thank you to you all for the care you give - a job I could not do.

My Aunt has been resident at Cavell Lodge for 18 months. Needing to find accommodation at short notice, I believe we were lucky to find a vacancy here. The lodge is purpose built and bright and has a more hotel-like feel than some other homes I have visited in the area. The staff are friendly, and there
is always a good atmosphere. My Aunt has been in good health since moving in, having been hospitalised on three occasions immediately beforehand. We have had no issues - my Aunt eats better than she would do at home, has more company than she would get at home, and is supported in those day to day activities that she could no longer manage at home. Care is expensive, but I do feel that my Aunt gets value for money at Cavell Lodge. None of us wants to go into care, but when infirmity demands that level of support, there is no choice. The choice is where we go, and I am very content with Cavell Lodge.

Michael has been the Registered Manager at Cavell Lodge since 2017. He has over 30 years’ experience working within the NHS and A&E specialising in Dementia. Michael also holds an NVQ 3 & 4 in Health & Social care, and is RMA, Associated practitioner.
