Kathryn Court is a comfortable and friendly care home in the heart of Shoeburyness, Essex.

This 52-bed Runwood Homes facility provides expert care for older people, including those living with dementia, and has been voted by residents and their families as one of the Top 20 care homes in East England. As well as being part of the 'dementia action alliance', they strive to create a homely environment by providing all the comforts of good food, good company and friendly staff.

Residents frequently take trips out and whilst at home the house is transformed into a hive of activity to ensure that residents remain stimulated and engaged, with their individual hobbies and needs taken into account, including movie matinee with popcorn and snacks, bingo, quizzes, board games and many more.

The atmosphere wraps itself around visitors when entering the foyer and the warm and friendly experience just grows from there. Comfortable lounges, staff interested in all the residents have to do and say and home-cooked meals. All bedrooms are beautifully furnished with en-suite bathrooms and excellent amenities.

There is a dedicated area for dementia care, designed to enable those cared for to maintain their dignity and independence in a safe environment.

Throughout Mum's time at Kathryn Court, she has received excellent care and attention. I cannot fault the staff, who are always so caring and keep a smile on Mum's face, always going the extra mile to help.

The manager and her team have looked after Mum since May 2021 after a very stressful time trying to look after her at home for the last 13 years and work full time. I cannot thank them all enough as Mum looks healthier now than she has done for years. It’s such a relief to know she has her medication,
is eating well and always looks clean and tidy. Of course, she always wants to go home but that passes when she goes back to the dayroom with the lovely carer and waves goodbye happily.
It’s been a stressful time for all the staff but they have got through it always smiling and pleased to accommodate whatever the request. They are brilliant and I don’t really know what I would do without them, thank you.

Mum came to Kathryn Court in November and it was a very stressful time for her and the family. The manager and her team have been exemplary in helping Mum to settle and we all feel she is so well cared for. What a relief! Mum says everyone is so nice. Thank you.

They took good care of my mum, very nice staff, nice facility. A bit surprised when I found Mum in a local supermarket one day, only to learn the trip was a regular trip by minibus with a chaperone run by the care-home, one of many trips out.
Mum was always hard to deal with in later life but they
managed to keep her contented, even though she always insisted on going back to her own home. There was no possibility of her living alone, and my work involved a lot of travel, so I could not act as carer. Unfortunately, other family members complained of cost, but would not get involved, that's my two brothers and especially a greedy sister who was concerned that her inheritance was dwindling, money well spent in my own opinion. Ma was looked after and safe, well-fed and entertained, she had a hairdresser visit every week, so dignity was also an aspect of this care home's service.

Since moving my father into Kathryn Court, I've seen the care and professionalism shown towards him. The staff are lovely. I also feel the home is very safe and secure. I cannot thank the management and staff at Kathryn Court for the care and dedication that they offer the residents in the home. My father-in-law went into the home nearly two years ago, and he has gone from strength to strength. He is happy and eating so much better.
We are especially grateful for
the care he has been receiving during the Covid situation; just knowing he is safe and well cared for is a huge relief for us as a family.

We were very distressed when we came here first as I wanted my mum to be somewhere safe and secure. The manager made me feel so welcome and relaxed and I am so pleased she is being well looked after. We couldn't thank them enough for all that they do for them.

My family were in a stressed and upset situation trying to care for my mother after she had a fall which left her unable to walk and immobile. My father did his very best but was at breaking point. Finding Kathryn Court and being offered a room was such a relief because we read the good reviews and
were impressed on our initial visit. But, over the two years, my mother lived there, it was the family atmosphere and genuine care shown by all the amazing staff there which was obvious. From the excellent manager down to every carer and housekeeping staff. Thank you Kathryn Court for caring for my mother so well in her final years.

My role allows me to encourage residents to continue being their authentic selves and to listen to their incredible life stories, which is a truly rewarding experience.


Building strong relationships with residents and their families is at the heart of what I do, and I’m passionate about creating an environment where everyone feels valued and connected.


In my spare time, I enjoy exploring my creative side through crafts and photography. I also love delving into family history, uncovering stories from the past that connect generations.

Outside of work, I’m always up for an adventure! I’ve completed a Race for Life and am known for my outgoing nature—I can even down a pint in one go!
