Westerley Christian Care Home is registered for twenty-one service users, offering scenic views of the Thames estuary, close proximity to transport routes and amenities, as well as the coast.

Skilfully converted from two hotels, Westerly boasts an interior that is ideal for residential care, while being homely, spacious, comfortably furnished and suitable for wheelchair users. Further modernisation was carried out with an extension in 2001 and the home now has some provision for married couples, from en-suite rooms fitted with call bells and TV aerial sockets.

Carers promote an active lifestyle, helping with access to hobbies and interests and pursuit of religious faith. Prayers are held on weekdays in the morning and a local minister visits once a week.

My mum took up residence in Westerley in 2017 and she has been very happy there since she moved in. She has a lovely, cosy room with an en-suite bathroom and toilet. She has a large window where she can watch the birds and squirrels go about their daily business. It is also lovely to see her actively
banter with the staff with both parties laughing and joking.
Westerley is a lovely and well run care home with caring staff who are fully committed to the welfare of their residents. I believe that its small size and homely interior decor give it a cosy and welcoming ambience. The food is home-cooked, fresh, very tasty and the menu is varied throughout the week. There is a variety of activities on offer ranging from Christian worship to organised parties on special days and anniversaries. The library has a collection of books and stimulating puzzles plus access to the internet for those inclined. The residents are encouraged to leave their rooms to mix with the other residents or they can spend quiet time in the library. My mum will do a combination of mixing or quiet times, whatever takes her fancy. Sometimes she may spend the day in her room reading her newspaper, snoozing or watching TV. That's fine too.
The ongoing Covid management programme at Westerley is excellent and during lockdown was also caring for both residents and relatives. Although we couldn't visit mum, the staff arranged zoom calls with her, so that we could still speak with her face to face.
Westerley is a lovely place. Mum is happy and well cared for, which for us as a family, gives us peace of mind.

Our mum has been at the Westerley for nine months. The staff have coped admirably and thoughtfully throughout the pandemic. There’s a piano for Mum to play. Particular pluses are the homely food (our mum has put on weight) and the seaside literally down the road. Any queries are happily received and
generally dealt with quickly by the management who keep in contact with the family via text and email.

My aunt was booked in for 3 weeks of respite Christmas 2020. She has dementia and can be quite difficult. She settled in so well and was very happy we extended her stay. She is still at the home now and the staff have been excellent we can't fault them, especially when dealing with the Covid pandemic.
Westerley is very friendly and homely. Which is what you need! I'm booking a room for myself in the year 2040.

My sister has been a resident since July 2019. The majority of her time there has been during the Covid pandemic which was extremely well managed by the home. She has always been looked after very well by the caring and friendly staff. I am regularly updated with her well being and medical condition.
My sister is able to keep in contact with family and friends having her original telephone line in her comfortable en-suite. Besides meeting family and friends in her room there is also a comfortable library which is also available.
She has in fact thrived during her time at Westerley due to the wonderful home-cooked plentiful food and the caring and humorous staff.
I am more than happy with all aspects of Westerley.

I originally looked at the home for my father a number of years ago. Unfortunately due to his particularly severe health requirements, it was not a suitable home for him. However, when my mother broke her hip in December 2020 in the middle of the Covid crisis I remembered how kind and considerate the
staff were when I had visited previously. She moved into the home a year ago and I would recommend it highly. Unlike some other care homes, it really is a home on account of its small size but also due to the staff who are all genuinely caring. It lives up to its Christian ethos and has successfully navigated the Covid pandemic for the last two years. Some of the facilities may need sprucing up, but where can you buy love? Well done to all at the Westerley.

My aunt (96) has been a resident for over three years and has been really happy at Westerley. The staff are great, very caring and patient. They understand residents' needs and help them cope with the issues of elderly living.
The home has a good friendly atmosphere.
The food is really wonderful and
they try and accommodate individual likes and favourites.
In January I was concerned about her sleeping all day so the GP was asked to visit and check her over. Their own checks showed she was fine but were happy to double-check. With their help and encouragement, she is now back to her old self.
Westerley is not a modern building, I would guess it's Victorian. The lounge is just the right size to accommodate all the residents who generally all gather there during the day. Likewise, a well laid out dining room. A lift connects the 3 floors. Bedrooms mostly are en-suite and there are large bathrooms with baths and hoists. Each bedroom is unique you just need to choose.
The Covid protection was awesome.

My mum is very happy with the care she receives, she enjoys the activities within the home, the food and her room.
She likes all the staff and finds them easy to talk to and are attentive to her needs physically, mentally and spiritually.
If my mum is happy then so am I, any concerns I have are dealt
with in a quick professional manner.
All the staff are approachable and have a friendly welcome even through the Covid pandemic.
I am kept informed about any changes in my mum's care needs and also what is happening within the home.
I have nothing but praise and thanks for all the staff who make my mum's life happy and fulfilled she has new friends and sees the staff as new members of her family.
I know that she is cared for and her needs are met in a homely friendly setting.

My mum has been in Westerley for two years and can only speak in the highest terms of the care, support and love that she has received. The staff are always friendly when I visit and nothing seems too much trouble, in spite of the fact that there were times during Covid when they were quite short of
staff and were working extra hard. There is a lovely family atmosphere in the home and the residents are individually cared for and valued. The food is well cooked and varied. A special fuss is made of birthdays and other days are celebrated, like VE Day and Valentine's Day with special cakes and personal messages. The staff have encouraged Mum to use her gifts and let her share in the spiritual life of the home by leading devotional times on Sunday. Mum was able to bring some of her own furniture with her and her big bright room feels just like her own home. We are so thankful to know that Mum is happy here and could think of no better place for her to be.

My friend quickly settled into Westerley and is so very happy and contented there. The staff are cheerful, friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them, for they see each resident as an individual. Hugs are freely available whenever they are needed! The food is well-balanced and good and my friend's
room is cosy, clean and comfortable. The staff rose to the challenges of Covid and are to be commended for their hard work in keeping residents safe. The spiritual needs of residents are important to the home and the atmosphere is one of Christian love and care.

I have nothing but praise for the staff who work so hard in caring for the residents. They are very attentive to Mum and I am sure she really appreciates the kindness they show to her. She is very comfortable there. The room is light and airy and the food is good. It feels like home and when I arrive,
the staff are very friendly and helpful. Perhaps it would be good if there was an additional member of staff on duty at any one time.

I could not ask for someone I love to be cared for better than my mother-in-law is at the Westerley.
The staff have been kind and compassionate while providing the utmost professional care for several years.
There is a warm family atmosphere throughout the Home and staff treat residents as individuals,
meeting their needs at the same time maintaining a well-structured routine. Meal times are looked forward to - probably due to food prepared on the premises and eaten in a very pleasant dining room.
I can not fault the standard of care and feel blessed my mother-in-law is happy being a resident at the Westerley.

I visit Westerley Christian Care Home on a regular basis and am always very impressed. The residents all seem happy and well cared for and there is a lovely family feel about the place. The staff are welcoming and respectful in their dealings with the residents and display compassion and care and act
in a professional manner. I often arrive at meal times and the food always looks appetising and the menu seems to be very varied. Residents take part in activities within the home and are assisted to continue with their interests in the home or outside for example attending clubs. Management are always on hand to answer questions or discuss any problems.
I have recommended Westerley Christian Care Home in the past and will continue to do so.

Care is good but frequently it is apparent that one extra staff member would make a big difference. Frequently the staff are too busy to spend time with someone in need. Sometimes a member of staff cannot be obtained when called.

My mother has been a resident at Westerley Christain Care Home since December 2014.
The staff are all very friendly and caring and Mum is treated with dignity and respect and is encouraged to be an independent as she can be.
They have a service most mornings and usually have communion once a month.
The residents have activities during the week.
The food is good and the chef goes out of his way to provide an interesting and varied menu and also goes to great lengths to cater for each individual's needs.
I always feel very welcome and am kept regularly informed of Mum's progress.

I have recently had dealings with the assistant manager of this home, and have found her to be most constructive and sympathetic in implementing changes to support my mother's needs.
The home itself has a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere and staff are friendly and helpful.
The activities are good
when held and staff are very inclusive of all residents, making sure everyone has an opportunity to participate.
There is an attractive garden where residents may sit during the summer and enjoy some sunshine and outdoor leisure.
