With just 38 bedrooms and homely surroundings, Ashley House has a warm, family feel. The team, many of whom have been with the home for over 10 years, provides residential and respite care, which can be booked in advance.

The team is passionate about Sanctuary Care’s vision of Enriching Lives, which is based on the six senses people need to meet to feel truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of security, achievement, belonging, significance, purpose and continuity.

The residents are engaged with inspiring activities, including the Grow Your Own Way project, where the residents nurture produce they have grown from seed, which is then used in the kitchen by the chef, giving them such a sense of achievement and pride.

The residents have an active role to play in how their home is run, with Ashley House’s resident ambassadors getting involved in everything from supporting with interviewing potential staff, to providing resident feedback.

There are so many other activities to enjoy, from music and games with nursery children, who are regular visitors, animal therapy, baking, trips out into the community, arts and crafts and pampering in the hair salon.

Residents enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals in the dining room, prepared by the home’s chef. Sometimes, when living with dementia, people can struggle to make food choices, so the chef will present dishes at the table, to stimulate the senses and help residents to decide what they fancy. And every day the chef bakes cakes and other sweet treats for afternoon tea.

Ashley House also has its own bar – The Dog and Trumpet, with authentic pumps and memorabilia, where residents enjoy socialising with their favourite tipple!

There is a main lounge and lots of cosy spaces to relax with loved ones, who are welcome to visit at any time. Ashley House also has a Namaste room, where residents can relax in a sensory setting.

Ashley House is bright, airy and spotlessly clean, with excellent individual rooms, spacious communal area and a number of smaller sitting areas, all surrounded by a wonderful garden. Mum has been in the home for five years now and is always saying how happy she is and enjoys the various group activities,
as well as the weekly hairdresser visits. The staff are very warm and welcoming, happy to provide updates and without fail have managed to arrange visits to see mum at short notice. Well done Ashley House!

Dad seems so much happier with life since moving to Ashley House he tells me every visit how well the staff are caring for him and how kind they are. We are very impressed with communication we feel thoroughly included in his care plan and when very poorly the staff kept us fully informed of his conditions.
Nothing ever seems too much trouble.

Always seems to be a pleasant place, when I visit. Staff are always helpful when I'm there and when I telephone. My Aunt is always clean, well dressed and appears to be very content there. I'm impressed by the way they have coped with all the Covid problems.

The staff are very friendly at Ashley House. It seems like a warm atmosphere and most of the time Mum seems happy. Mum has put on weight and is eating well. She can be difficult at times so patience is needed. Also, because of her disease, she will often get confused. When things are a bit easier we
would love her to go on day trips and maybe a few more family activities that we can join as a family.

Safe arrangements made to visit Mum in the garden where despite us wearing masks Mum was able to recognise my husband and me. We had a good chat and sing song together (Mum knew all the words!). The staff were very helpful in arranging our visit and made us aware of all the restrictions required to
keep everyone safe. Thank you for all your first-class care and getting Mum ready for visit. It has been the best and most rewarding time we have spent with Mum this year.

Everyone seems very friendly. We haven't been able to enter the home yet due to COVID but we are looking forward to seeing mum's room and meeting the whole staff. Our decision below are made from our experiences without knowing about the internal parts of the home and are going on mum's thoughts.

My grandad first came to stay at Ashley House with mild dementia. The staff are fantastic, and their care for my grandad as he got progressively worse was second to none. My nan joined him, and she is enjoying life immensely. She loves the sing-alongs and loves the food. You are always offered a cup
of tea when you visit, and we have even been offered a full meal if we drop in at mealtimes. Thank you so much for looking after my grandparents. It’s been such a weight off my mum's mind.

My mother was in Ashley House only a short time but due to the care and compassion of all the staff her time there was immensely happy. They are outstanding, the management, carers, kitchen staff, cleaners, literally all of them clearly love their jobs and it shows. Absolutely nothing is too much trouble.
Please do go and look at Ashley House if your loved one is in need of a home. It's not about the surroundings, but the care that really counts.

This is the 3rd care home my mum has experienced and is by far the best. A good balance between friendliness and efficiency. Staff are always alert and attentive and clearly enjoy looking after the residents. Very recent improvements in dining room arrangement and upgrades to bedrooms have improved
appearance and are welcome. Only criticism is control of personal items, particularly clothing, which sometimes gets misplaced.

My husband has been a resident for a year and five months, he seems quite happy, is well fed and well looked after even when he is stroppy. If he falls or has a problem one of the staff will call and let me know.

I can't believe mum is very happy and content, the last two years have been very stressful for us as a family and to find somewhere like Ashley House where she has a lovely room, all the staff make you welcome, mum loves the food and all the attention she gets, it's a joy to visit her and see her

The social aspect at Ashley House is very important and it is always lovely to see friendships emerging within the home and the wider community through our resident activities.
