I would like to say my mum received first-class care from all the staff at the Avenue Care Home.
Us as a family have received support and are treated as one of the family by all the staff. Especially in mum final days.

Reply from Lisa Hawkins, Manager at The Avenue Rest Home

I was an absolute pleasure having your mum with us and working with such a supportive family.

My sister has been in The Avenue Rest Home for over 12 months and seems to have settled very well. All the staff work very hard to keep everyone safe and happy and doubts re my sister moving in are now gone as I know she is safe and well.

Respite placement at short notice. Care was very good with respect and consideration shown daily. Staff were considerate to residents and family alike. Every effort was made to accommodate the resident with individual attention. The overall atmosphere was that of "a family" rather than a group of residents.

My husband was a resident at the Avenue Care Home from July 2017 until 30th May 2018, when he was admitted to hospital and died on that same day.
The care home seemed to me very good in looking after him.
He had a nice room - the food was good and the staff caring.

When visiting there always appears to be plenty of staff available. Staff all appear pleasant and answer any query put to them, either at the time or on next visit if not immediately certain.

Mum came to the care home from hospital and has made an amazing recovery. This is thanks to all the support and care she has received from the home. She is always clean, well dressed and enjoys her lovely meals. She enjoys the activities and going out on local trips. the staff are always so cheerful
and chatty, so pleased I found such a great place for her to stay!

My mother lived at the care home for 18 months. The care and love she had were outstanding. The homemade all the family members so welcome, day or night. This was a great relief for all of us. It's a wonderful place with wonderful staff. We can't recommend it enough. From a very grateful family to all
the staff.

I have been a resident here for 1 year. I had a stroke and was in hospital, and then came here to the Avenue Care home. I have been treated extremely well and after physiotherapy, both here and in hospital, am greatly improved. My writing so very much improved. I have no complaints.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.208)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.208) out of 10 for The Avenue Rest Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for The Avenue Rest Home is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.208 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Avenue Rest Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.208

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
