Avon Park Rest Home is located in Park Gate, on the south coast of Hampshire. This well established privately owned residential home is purpose built and provides accommodation for up to 38 elderly residents.

Avon Park provides residents with a warm, relaxed, informal and homely atmosphere where well-being, care and comfort are of paramount importance. All staff strive to preserve dignity, privacy and individuality in a caring atmosphere.

Accommodation at Avon Park is provided in 38 single bedrooms and one double bedroom, all of which have en-suite facilities. All rooms are individually designed, bright, airy and beautifully decorated. All rooms have 24 hour nurse call bell system, individual central heating control, private telephone line and colour TV. Some bedrooms have patio doors and extensive views of the garden or surrounding area. Residents are welcome to bring their own personal effects.

Meals are taken in the spacious dining room that overlooks the front of the property and its beautiful gardens. All meals are freshly cooked and a nutritious and varied menu is offered. Fresh and local produce is used whenever possible. Menu examples are available on their website.

Avon Park has a private landscaped garden of 3/4 of an acre with well maintained flower beds, shrubbed borders and beautiful trees. Perfect for relaxing during summer months and socialising with family on sunny days.

    • Our Admissions Policy Policy Statement This policy sets out: • how the home handles referrals of prospective residents • to make sure that everyone is satisfied that the home will meet their needs • to organise the admission in ways which give the new resident the best possible start to their life in the home. Our home considers that much of the success of a period of residence lies in making the correct decisions and taking appropriate action at the time of a resident’s referral and admission. It therefore works in its admission and referral policies to achieve the requirements of Regulation 14: Suitability of Service of the Regulated Services (Service Providers and Responsible Individuals) Regulations 2017. Regulation 14 requires the care home to have an “admissions and commencement of the service policy and procedure”, which includes reference to: • arrangements for confirming that the service can or cannot provide a suitable service • details about the consultation process involved and the information to be considered • the assessment processes (including for emergency admissions), including who will undertake the assessment • the circumstances where a service will not be provided • opportunities to visit a care home which is under consideration • the arrangements for start of service. Our home has a suite of policies that meet these requirements, including Needs Assessment in Care Homes, Information Provision for Prospective Service Users, Trial Visits, Residents Bringing Private Property Into the Home, Service Users’ Contracts and Key Workers. The home will also follow all government guidance in respect of applications for admission during the COVID-19 emergency situation, including those referred through hospital discharge arrangements. It might be necessary to modify some of the procedures that are described below to ensure compliance. My mum has been at Avon Park for two and a half years. She is very well looked after and is very happy there. The staff are very caring and compassionate and the food is freshly cooked each day by the chef, we are even invited to have lunch with Mum whenever we want. There are also various activities
for the residents to do if they want to join in.

My mum spent over 6 very happy years at Avon Park Residential Home. Indeed they gave her a new lease of life. It is such a homely place with very caring and welcoming staff. I would highly recommend this home as that is exactly what it is -a home, not just a place to live out old age. Thank you to everyone.

Our mother needed a short respite stay between hospital and living back in her own home. Avon Park provided the perfect place. Management were so supportive - helping us get mum out of hospital as quickly as possible and being flexible when putting her care package together took longer than anticipated.
Mum had excellent care during her stay. Her direct quote was "I couldn't fault it". Her only disappointment was that they didn't have hot puddings every day! Mum's room was comfortable, overall she enjoyed the food despite being a fussy eater, she found the carers helpful and friendly, and most importantly for us, we felt confident that she was in a safe place being cared for well.

My mum has been in Avon Park for three years. The staff are always very pleasant and helpful. I feel they look after mum well. One carer, in particular, is lovely always smiling and cheerful. Two other ladies always make mum feel safe and secure at Avon Park and nothing is too much trouble for them.
I feel the new manager will make some positive changes to an already happy care home.

My brother and I researched Care Homes in our local area in July 2013 and decided that Avon Park would be the best fit for our mother. She has been there since that time and will soon be celebrating her 100th birthday.
During her time in her new home, she has been so well cared for, especially by
the senior members of the team and the management. Mum has had some health issues, but all have been dealt with promptly. We are notified immediately of any changes to her situation and informed of all action being taken. We find this very reassuring. When we visit we are made to feel very welcome and encouraged to give feedback on anything that could improve the experience that both Mum has as a resident, and we have as visitors. Everyone is accessible and eager to help. Having regular visits from a Chiropodist and twice-weekly visits from the hairdresser makes these necessities totally stress free.
We are very happy with Avon Park, and would not want our mother to be anywhere else.

My Aunt stayed here for a month for respite care and holiday. The staff were very kind and friendly and soon made her feel very welcome. The level of care was appropriately managed to allow my Aunt privacy and independence as well as ensuring she was very comfortable and looked after. It was a very
successful stay with my Aunt able to go home with confidence and better levels of energy.

Mum has been living at Avon Park for about eighteen months now and is full of praise for the staff, and their excellent care for her. Residents are encouraged to be as active as they wish, and in Mum's case, this includes playing her piano every day, keeping an assortment of plants in pots on her patio,
and keeping the local bird population well fed. Although very professional, the staff are full of fun and genuine kindness and seem to meld together into an excellent team. Food is of a good quality, laundry is beautifully handled, and residents are pretty much waited on hand and foot! As a daughter, I know I couldn't provide anything like the same standard of service, let alone nursing care, and I'm delighted that Mum has found such a lovely place to live.

My dad was a resident for just over 2 years until he became too ill to stay at this friendly caring home. As I don't live near enough to visit regularly I would phone to see how dad was doing and it didn't matter who I spoke to, they could give me a full report on Dad, from how he was feeling to what
he had eaten. We I visited Dad looked clean and smart and very comfortable. When asked how he was he would reply "fine, I've got no worries anything is done for me." The meals were appetising with a choice for lunch and tea, drinks were always available not only to residents but visitors as well. The home is clean and well maintained and the staff are wonderful, caring and efficient.
It is such a shame Dad could not stay with them but in his last six weeks the staff were truly exceptional and I couldn't thank them enough.

My aunt moved into Avon Park 18 months ago as she was no longer safe to live alone. Aged 92 she had recurrent falls. She was a shy and quiet spinster and the thought of moving was quite daunting. However, she was always treated with kindness and affection by the staff who had worked there for some
time. It was nice to have that continuity, no unfamiliar faces she didn't know. She was always well dressed, clean and tidy, as was her room.
Food was good, well balanced, homely meals. I, as a visitor, was always made to feel welcome with cups of tea and I could stay for lunch with her if I wished. I was so worried to begin with that she wouldn't settle but I can honestly say I needn't have worried. I would recommend Avon Park to anyone. They were cheaper than a lot of others I visited and the Care Quality Commission score was excellent. My aunt has now sadly passed away but I will always be thankful to Avon Park for making her remaining life carefree and enjoyable.

My sister and I were in a guardian position of looking out for our lovely late dear aunt.
From the fist time, we contacted the home the care, help and support from the owners and all the staff was outstanding!
A light in the dark for us when our dear relative needed respite care and eventually full-time
residence. This lovely home provides professional care and the highest provision in warmth, kindness and all catering requirements for residents needs and comfort. The high standards are set at the top and cascade down, this home provides an exceptional standard of care for residents and family. We would highly recommend this lovely clean caring residential home. A grateful thanks to all the staff for making our aunts stay so comfortable.

Visited friend and were offered refreshment on arrival. Found staff to be very happy and welcoming. It had a very nice feel to the place and the lunch we were given was of a high standard with fresh vegetables. It was our first visit and the owner was happy to give us a lift to and from the station
which was much appreciated. We spoke with a few members of staff and they were all long serving and appeared to be very caring. The resident friend was very content to be there and told us the staff were very kind to her. Overall we were most impressed with Avon Park.
