With beautiful gardens and communal areas, spacious bedroom suites, a library and bistro café, Basingfield Court has some wonderful spaces to enjoy. But it’s the team which makes this home special.

Devoted to enriching the lives of their residents, activities are a huge part of life in the home, where the team provide residential, dementia and pre-bookable respite care.

The home has magnificent large gardens. With new furniture, these have just been revamped with the help of community volunteers, who have also created a pond. The residents are nurturing their own herbs and veg from seed, as part of the home’s gardening project, which will then be used in the kitchen.

The residents enjoy seated yoga, visualisation and meditation classes every week, as well as Zumba and dance. There are also twice weekly visits from a mobile hairdresser, who has been pampering residents in the salon for 30 years!

There are monthly cultural days, where the residents learn facts about different countries and the chef creates authentic cuisine, with everything from Spanish and Greek to Italian, where residents helped make pizzas. The chef makes home-cooked meals every day and is a talented baker, with freshly-baked cakes for afternoon tea. The residents often get involved in baking activities. And new to the menu are the cheese and pâté suppers.

The home has a beautiful bistro to relax in with loved ones, who are welcome to visit at any time. It also has its own private family and friends Facebook page, filled with photos and videos of what the residents have been enjoying.

The home is very much part of the local community, with school children visiting regularly for crafts and bingo.

Animal visits are also popular at Basingfield Court, from guinea pigs and rabbits to Shetland ponies.

In general, we are very pleased with the service that my father receives from the home, and the staff are always very helpful and friendly. The home has experienced some major senior staff changes over the last year that has been very concerning.
The facilities are in generally good order but could,
in some areas, do with some updating. A large amount of time and money was spent this year on making the reception area look more modern to visitors, but this, unfortunately, does not benefit the residents.

I had to take my aunt out of this care home at very short notice and move her to another because of the level of care she was receiving. I have made a complaint through Sanctuary Care's official procedures but one month on have received no reply.

Management and carers employed by the home are excellent. However, there are very often agency staff working who are not familiar with the residents individual care needs. The residents also are not familiar with the agency staff, and would probably feel more comfortable with a familiar face.

My father has been in the home for a year and on the whole, he/we are happy. However, there has been incidences where requests have been made for extra bedding/carpet cleaning/diabetic checks etc to carers and not followed through. Additionally, for the size of the home, a single activities coordinator
is insufficient for the number of residents and a vehicle to facilitate outings is required. All staff are friendly, caring and helpful but the organisation needs to be better.

Mum is 93 and has dementia. In May we had the uncomfortable decision to make finding a care home for mum. The decision was very easy for us. The moment we were invited for an interview and shown around we were instantly impressed with the facilities, cleanliness and the staff. Mum went into Basingfield
Court in April and we saw an immediate improvement in her appetite and cleanliness. She joins in with most activities and even trips out. We all have the peace of mind she is being well looked after.

Very nice room.
Great encourage to mingle.
Laundry!! Washes too hot - indelible pen labels washed out in 14 days. Best jumper put in dryer and shrunk! Lost nightdress. More care, please.

The room I occupy is clean, spacious, warm and comfortable has all toilet facilities etc. And light and relaxing the staff are friendly and helpful always ready to help with any problem you may have. Different activities every week for everyone the home has a garden surround which everyone can enjoy
in the summer.

The caring, patience and tenderness of staff is like watching someone with their own relative. The care that's given is how we would like to be able to care for our relative. It's given with a special love and care.

I am the carer for my husband and do not receive any help. Recently I had to spend a short time in hospital and recovery time after an operation. I urgently needed respite care for my husband at very short notice. Having had a short visit to Basingfield Court Residential Home a few weeks previously
to have a look around I called them for assistance. Without hesitation and at very short notice the management team arranged an assessment which resulted in my husband spending just over a week with them. This was a great help and relief to both of us knowing he was being well looked after. I cannot thank the whole team enough for their help and assistance and for caring for my husband so well. I would happily recommend Basingfield Court to anyone and would definitely not hesitate to use them in the future they certainly went out of their way to make life easier for us both.

Good room sizes and standard of cleanliness. Friendly, courteous staff on the whole with one notable exception.
Management helpful when questioned.
Access security good, but results in being kept waiting too long at times (manual door release)

For over a week, the home has been without running hot water, a basic human right to health and hygiene has been denied and still no end date to the boiler being fixed.

I do understand your frustration, however, our staff worked tirelessly to support our residents throughout to minimise the impact on them as much as possible. As soon as we experienced an issue getting a consistent supply of hot water we contacted the engineers who confirmed we needed a new boiler. This took five working days to fit because of the very specific type we needed, however, we have replaced both boilers as a precaution. If you would like to speak to me further please do not hesitate to come and see me.”

I have found when visiting my friend the staff are welcoming and curious and always pleased to help! There have been issues with things going missing. Purses, debit cards and phones! On the whole, my friend has been happy at Basingfield Court Residential Care Home in the short time she has been there,
sadly Basingfield Court Residential Care Home is not secure enough for my friend to stay.

Zina Kenk

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2022

I joined the team at Basingfield Court as a deputy manager last year, before becoming manager earlier this year. As a team we deliver great care for our residents, working closely with professionals and supporting residents’ families and loved ones.


My career in care started over 10 years ago, working as a carer alongside studying. I have recently completed my level 5 Management in Health and Social Care and will continue to study and learn in my role.


Caring for people is very important to me. I enjoy doing things that will either help someone or change someone’s life, even in a small way. Here at Basingfield Court, our wonderful team support in enriching residents' lives every day. It makes me feel that I am a part of something very special.
