Superb. From day one, surrounded by warmth, love and care. The dedication shown by all the carers and the superb nursing team has been second to none. We are so blessed that my husband could spend the last stages of his life in such a special place.

Wonderful services and attention to care of my father. Without fail all of the team have a genuine and sincere wish to provide love, care and attention to my father. It was never easy to leave my father, but I have been comforted to know friendly, professional and knowledgable staff work there and are
ready to respond and see to his every need.

My father stayed at Beechwood House for just over a year. It was an extremely welcoming home, where all the staff cared very well for my father and for us as his family. I would have no hesitation in recommending Beechwood House to anyone.

Living at home was no longer an option for my dad but after 8 months of dedicated care, Beechwood
House proved to be the next best thing! I cannot praise the staff enough for their care, support, respect, love, hard work, the commitment given and the dignity shown to ensure my dad had the best life
he could under the circumstances due to his poor health. This kindness and care was also extended to our family and especially to my mother who visited my dad daily. Apart from the amazing care, it seems the philosophy of Beechwood House is that it is the resident’s home, so all of the staff do everything possible to encourage a happy family atmosphere.
The family days organised by the home on Valentines Day, Easter and in the summer have been brilliant. There are coffee mornings where all are encouraged to make any suggestions for improvement. The delicious homemade food, the hard work to create the beautiful garden, it doesn’t end there. Beechwood House is a great example of how a care home should be.

I consider my husband is being cared for very well in Beechwood Nursing Home. Management and all the staff are very willing to help with any problem I have and they're good working together, even in difficult periods.
The activities are good and wide-ranging, good stimulation. I can have lunch and
drinks when I choose, food is good and varied. I visit my husband six days a week, it's nice not having to take washing home and lastly, the garden has been lovingly landscaped by one man and is now a mass of colour.

Without exception, staff seem motivated and caring. Staff make genuine attempts to connect with residents with dementia in a way that treats them as individuals rather than merely another patient.
The building itself and the decor is somewhat "tired" and I note that carers often struggle to manoeuvre
residents to and from the bathroom/toilet.

My Mum has been cared for since September in Beechwood House. I couldn't wish for her to have better care. The staff, without exception, are lovely. She has very complex needs now and is looked after by friendly, cheerful nurses and carers. The home is exceptionally clean. The food is very nice, freshly
prepared and with a varied choice. They have activity staff who organize different things every day to keep the residents occupied and motivated. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to anybody who is feeling that the time has come for their relative to receive the full time care that they deserve.

Thank you for the excellent care you provided to my Dad. It was very clear from the team’s interaction with my Dad, that they all deeply cared for him and had taken the time to really get to know him. The home is amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Resident requests are always met with a smile. The
team really made sure that my Dad felt loved happy and safe at all times: warmth just radiates from them all.

Outstanding support and kindness were given to me over the last couple of months of my Dads life. Words cannot describe how difficult it is to watch a loved one ‘fade away’. With the genuine empathy, outstanding care and understanding showed to me, it absolutely meant that a very difficult time was made that much less difficult.

They say everyone has a guardian angel, well my Dad had many and they all reside at Beechwood House

My mother was a resident for 5 months up to the time of her death. From the day she arrived, we found the staff to be very professional, caring and attentive. She was well cared for as her condition deteriorated and needed increasing help with her personal and medical needs. The staff were supportive
of the family and communication was good. Thank you for all that you did for my mother.

From the beginning, I found all of the staff very friendly and approachable and noticed how they actively interacted with the residents in a very professional and caring way.
I am so very grateful for all of the support, advice and understanding given during a very difficult time and can’t thank them
enough.

My mother was at Beechwood House all of December until her death on December 27th 2017. I found all the staff excellent. They gave my mother care and love when most needed at the end of her life.

I am writing to applaud the staff of Beechwood House for greatly improving the health of my father over the past 6 weeks. He was discharged from the hospital with multiple conditions and quite poorly. However, under their care and diligence, his health and positive demeanour have vastly improved and
we have Dad back. My family are so pleased and grateful to those at Beechwood and their ongoing care for my father. Thank you.

Look past the ongoing refurbishment and you see a wonderful home, with carers that actually care. After my mothers initial (and understandable) reluctance to move into a nursing home, she is both happy and content. When possible, nothing is too much trouble for both residents and visitors and time is
taken to talk through questions and worries. As a child, I couldn't be happier with the home my mother now lives in.

My father in law has mobility problems and dementia, however, I believe he is experiencing some of the best quality of life ever. He loves the food, he loves the company, he loves the activities and (best of all) HE LOVES THE CUDDLES. The manager has a mature and loving approach to care and all the
staff are people I like being around.

My mother in law had dementia and very bad arthritis. Beechwood staff created a home and truly cared for her for the last year of her life, after she was turned out of a supposedly good, dementia care home. The difference was astounding: Beechwood staff are well trained to respect the individual,
their pain and experiences. She was much more content from day one. Of the three care homes she experienced over three years, we rated the two homes where managers were nurses themselves, involved in the care provision.
A positive personal recommendation steered us to Beechwood. The staff seem warm and friendly and they genuinely are: moreover, capable and intelligent about adapting care to needs. Residents' rooms are pleasant, leafy environs, nice garden and varied options for sitting in sunny spaces or enclosed snug TV room.
At the end, the care extended to my husband and myself, and we cannot thank them enough for everything they did to prepare us and help us all through.

The staff genuinely care about the patients and their families to the point where they form an attachment. It's that care that's the most important aspect of nursing care. It's a comfort to families to have the trust and confidence in those caring for our loved ones. I just lost my mother and a member
of staff attended the funeral. The staff there offered me continued support following her passing. You will not find anywhere else where the care is so consistent and heartfelt. You can't put a price on that.

Initial contact with manager and nurse in January 2016 very positive and understanding. A very thorough and professional appraisal took place of patients situation and care home needs including health and medication, along with family contacts and any personal wishes. From day 1 my mother was lovingly
cared for with exceptional understanding and patience.
Every effort was made to keep her dignity. The staff operated as an enthusiastic and happy team and they were all totally involved in the successful running of the home at every level.

This made a happy environment for the many patients where frequent activity created fun and games for many to enjoy. There was an instinctive response from the nurses at spotting patients needing attention and they were incredibly quick at spotting health needs and reacting accordingly. The management of handling dying patients was amazing and made a painful experience easier to bear as they felt the pain too. I would highly recommend this care home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.822)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.822) out of 10 for Beechwood House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.922 for Beechwood House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (94 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 102 Ratings = 4.922

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beechwood House Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
