Beechwood House is like a "home from home!". The residents and visitors are all treated in a friendly but professional way. I have not been able to find any faults over the past 3 1/2 years my father in law has been resident there.

All the staff are very helpful and friendly and answer all my questions as honestly as possible. Ask my opinion on any changes to medication or care. Notify me immediately any hospital visits or falls in the home.
I am more than satisfied with their care and understanding of my husband and myself.

My father spent a couple of months at Beechwood House receiving palliative care. The staff were extremely supportive. They went out of their way to ensure all family members felt welcome to visit at any time. Staff dealt with my father in a very professional but caring way. Responses to questions were
both sensitive and open, checking first how much we wanted to know.
Our family is very grateful for the way we were all treated.

My dad had been going to Beechwood House for the last couple of years for respite care. He spent the last six months as a permanent reside and was very happy there. He would enjoy the sing-a-long afternoons and the quiz, not mention the wonderful food. All staff showed much affection, respect and great
care to him. He very sadly passed away in May all the family were able to be with him. Every member of staff was exceptional making his last few days comfortable and dignified. They treated him and our family with so much kindness, love and support throughout a very stressful time. I can thoroughly recommend Beechwood House as a very caring and professional home and express sincere thanks to all members of staff.

Mum had to go into nursing home after period in hospital. The staff at Beechwood were very compassionate and kept us informed at all stages of mum's short stay. They were also very caring towards me and my husband (son of residents) They could not have tried harder to get mum over illness, providing
special food when she would not eat etc and contacting doctor at first signs of deterioration. The score for rooms and facilities is only due to the fact the home is in course of refurbishment and from what i saw will be excellent when finished. Sadly mum has passed away but our thanks so to all staff at the home.

From the day we arrived my mum and all us family were made to feel welcome by everyone. The staff quickly got to know mum and all her little ways. They would do anything for her. Beechwood House is in the process of being refurbished- starting on the top floor - mum was on the ground floor where everything
was well used and fairly shabby, however this made no difference to the wonderful care she was given. I am sorry she didn't live long enough to enjoy the garden and warmer weather.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.822)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.822) out of 10 for Beechwood House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.922 for Beechwood House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (94 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 102 Ratings = 4.922

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beechwood House Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
