Located in the picturesque seaside town of Barton-on-Sea, Bethel House provides a happy and welcoming home for residents. The home was refurbished in 2016 and has a number of comfortable communal areas and bedrooms, giving the home a cosy and happy atmosphere where residents can reach their full potential.

Bethel House has secluded, accessible gardens where residents can spend time relaxing or catching up with friends and family. The home is easily accessible by major road networks, making visits easy and convenient for loved ones, while still retaining peace and tranquillity.

Fully inclusive meals can be enjoyed in the dining area and video calling is available to keep in touch with loved ones. In addition to this, Bethel House offer a hairdressing salon for all residents and an all inclusive laundry service is provided.

Residents are encouraged to lead the lifestyle of their choice and are treated with respect and dignity. Care is tailored to individual needs and residents can participate in any activities they wish to, or none if this is preferred.

My mother-in-law moved to Bethel House six months ago, and in that time, she has come to think of it as her home. The manager and her deputy are, in particular, outstanding. We can't stress enough how caring and patient they are. The manager is always thinking of how she can improve Bethel House and
the lives of its residents. The care staff are kind and will always find time to talk to the residents, despite the demanding and stressful nature of their work. We were particularly impressed with the Jubilee party where the staff made a huge effort to involve the residents; my mother-in-law was very happy singing along to the live music and reminiscing about watching the coronation. Thank you, Bethel House team, for all your hard work.

My mother has been in Bethel House for almost 3-years now. I can detect she is not always happy there, although this depends on her state of mind! However, I can also determine she must be a very demanding resident for the staff - she often talks of moving near me, but I'm sure she wouldn't be happier
in any other residence. As for my perception of the home, it is bright and clean, and the staff always seem to find a few minutes for Mum to introduce me (again). The most recent changes have improved the overall feel, in re-arranging the lounge so it is not as cramped as before, and much more bright and welcoming. The bright paintwork everywhere gives the home that happy feeling. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for doing a difficult job.

My great Aunt is really happy at Bethel despite some apprehension from her to start with, the staff and other residents all seem very happy and this has a positive effect on my Aunt. The activities are plenty and keep her both engaged and stimulated. She has really settled in and has made lots of new
friends.

A thoroughly professional run care home, providing personally tailored attention to individuals' needs. The staff cannot seem to do enough for the patients and are led by a dedicated management team. Recommended to anyone who finds themselves in the position of needing to find such facilities.

I rate the Care Home as 5 stars for a number of reasons
1) The manager is a very happy person and her attitude to life makes the whole Care Home a happy place.
2) The manager and her staff treat residents with respect and do everything they can to make them feel safe and well and looked after.
3)
Birthdays are recognised and celebrated.
4) I visit my wife on a regular basis and am always made to feel welcome.
5)My wife is very happy there.

My mother has been a resident for 11 years I think that speaks in itself.
It’s a small home ( please note that word as it really is home ) the staff have time to get to know each resident.
The management doesn’t stand back but gets involved in personal care if needed.

Exemplary care given to my dad throughout his stay at Bethel House. Even with the challenge of the pandemic, they went over and above to provide access through Skype when family members could not visit. To still be able to see him and talk to him was a gift not to be underestimated.
Even in his last
few weeks with us, their empathy, care and tenderness shown to dad and us as a family will not be forgotten.

A nicely decorated and bright environment with friendly and efficient staff. The food is excellent and the staff are very helpful with nothing too much trouble. Dad is comfortable and well looked after and we know he is in safe hands.

Hartford Care continues to provide a quality level of personal care for my Mother, who has been with them for some time now. As a family, we feel confident in Hartford Care as they seem to have met all of our expectations and have even exceeded them in some areas.

The care given to my mother is first class the whole team work tirelessly to give them the best care. I find Bethel House to be very clean and is and very presentable. On visiting my mother I can see the carers know exactly what to do and they are very well organised they always make us very welcome

We find all the staff at Bethel house show compassion and care. Bethel House is always clean, tidy and very bright it’s a pleasure to visit the home we always receive a very good welcome. As for the caring of my mother-in-law we couldn’t ask for more.

My father was a resident for over 18 months and I always felt he was well cared for and properly looked after. Obviously, Covid made things more difficult, but the staff were always kind and friendly, however busy they were, and I always thought that they did their best for him.

My father was wonderfully cared for during his almost two-year residency at Bethel House. All the staff were incredibly caring and helpful at all times, even when they were busy. As my father’s health began to fail, we were regularly updated on his condition and allowed to visit him as often as we wanted
whilst stringently following COVID safe practices. The care from the staff was not only for my father but shown to all members of the family. My mother was greatly comforted by the condolences offered by so many of the Bethel House team members who took time out of their busy shifts to come to speak to her, from the Home Manager, all the Care team members, the Housekeeper and even the Maintenance Technician. Attendance at the funeral was above and beyond the call of duty. We could not have asked for anything more.

My mother has been fortunate to spend a number of respite breaks at this lovely bright and cheerful home. The staff are always happy and welcome her back like a family. With good entertainment and food my mother has always enjoyed her visits.

We, as a family, are extremely grateful for the care and understanding which has been given on a continuing basis. Mum was never an easy person to deal with even at the best of times for the family and after many years of dementia a care home was selected, this took a few attempts but Bethel House was the best by far selection in familiar settings. My mother has been down the slippery slope of Dementia for over
five years and each year possesses new challenges for the care home staff to work out. Mum has slipped in and out of palliative care and we have been kept well informed, with Mum now in recovery again. The Facebook postings and activities shown have been a vital form of regular feedback for the family who are not living local, this works exceptionally well, especially short videos.
Mums wellbeing has been excellent, far better than when she was on her own, regular hair cuts, nails, general hygiene. Well done to all the team at Bethal House especially in such challenging times as we are in with Covid. Recommended.

Bethel House staff and Manager have gone above and beyond the call of duty in caring for my mother who contracted pneumonia. She has recovered from this serious illness with the loving kindness, continued nourishment and daily care. They have had someone sitting in her room attending to her and arranged
for us to visit her outside her window. They gave her complan as she had no appetite, and helped her to recover from a state in which she was non responsive, barely moving, not talking, and just taking sips of water, to full spirits again. She is now holding telephone conversations, they ring us when she asks for us. They have got her up and mobile again, and in the last week, she has been taken off the 15-minute checks that were in place before her illness to stop her wandering up the stairs and falling. She resides on the ground floor and has everything she needs. Despite having severe dementia, they maintain a happy disposition with her and have treated her exceptionally well.

I am proud to have joined Bethel House. It is important to me that the residents, their families and the staff team feel welcome, cared for and supported to enable them to build good relationships and happy memories for the future.


We will be working together to support the residents' sensory needs to enable them to have a holistic well-being while living in our home, by encouraging them to be involved in the social community of the home at the same time encouraging them to remain as independent as they are able to. Smiles, warmth and kindness will greet everyone who visits Bethel House.

I joined Hartford Care in January 2017 as a Senior Care Assistant at Bethel House in Barton-on-Sea in Hampshire, subsequently qualified as a Care Practitioner and have since been promoted to Deputy Manager.
