Applewood is a residential care home offering dementia care. It was rated 'Good' by the CQC in 2019, placing it among the top care homes in England.

Applewood is a very active home, where all residents are encouraged to live life to the full and participate in everyday tasks and with trips out.

The home is an attractive, old building with a purpose-built extension and many of the rooms are ensuite. The garden has been landscaped with a seaside theme and the garden is secure and often used by residents in the spring and summer time.

Activities such as seed planting and vegetable planting take place, along with garden parties and games. The dining room looks out onto the well maintained garden grounds as well as a garden lounge having access to the garden.

All food is freshly prepared each day, with a choice of delicious meals on offer.

There are also day care opportunities for those who would like to try spending the day at Applewood to get a flavour of the home and what's on offer.

Mum and Dad both moved to Applewood in February 2019. Dad had been through quite an ordeal having been in hospital 3 months. Dad, especially, was very apprehensive about moving into a Care Home. More than anything the family wanted Mum and Dad to be together in a warm, friendly, safe and caring environment.
From the first time we met the Manager, Management team and Care staff we felt comfortable that Applewood was the right choice. Mum and Dad have settled so much more quickly than we anticipated. It's not easy to take their individual and joint needs into account but the staff have been exceptionally patient, kind and supportive of them. The whole family have been really impressed with the care, friendliness, kindness and compassion of all staff. Nothing is too much trouble, all requests are listened to and handled quickly. We have also been kept informed of anything as it arises. Overall we are extremely happy and feel very fortunate that Mum and Dad are in Applewood and cared for so well.

We had visited the care home a while back looking towards the future for our mum. Were very impressed with everything about the care home and time shown to us at what was tricky time. Following the visit, my mum dropped in for a day to see what the home was all about on a daily routine. This lead on
to her staying for a week which she thoroughly enjoyed. I can't compliment the staff enough on their friendly approach to both my mum and ourselves. Nothing was too much trouble and the level of care and compassion was so pleasing to see. I can't recommend this lovely care home enough and without doubt, at the appropriate time, my mum will be enjoying the first class care offered by all the staff at Applewood.

Applewood has provided outstanding care since it became Mum's home three years ago. Fiercely independent, she went reluctantly for a trial but within a week wanted to stay. She continually praises the staff for their care and sense of humour, calling them her 'lovely nurses'. I witness their patience,
compassion and dedication, sometimes in less than easy circumstances. The resident's needs, dignity and a sense of worth are the foundation stone of the way this home is run. The new manager continues to build on the excellent foundations left by her predecessor e.g., starting a refurbishment scheme for the resident's rooms. Mum loves her spacious room; recarpeted and decorated with new furniture on her arrival, new curtains are now being provided.
We have been kept well informed of Mum's health needs and she has been looked after in every sense. Other homes may appear more modern or spacious but Applewood has been outstanding in everything that is of importance to us. It provides a 'home' when it is time to give up independent living.

Visited my partners nan last month. All very friendly and clean. We found all the staff to be polite, welcoming and easy to approach.


I was a bit unsure who to ask and what to do! I Immediately felt at ease once I walked in.

Indoor activities excellent. There should be a rota for the trips out. The same few people seem to go out each time. Everyone who is capable should be on the rota.

My sister and I visited over 10 care homes and the only one where we felt that our mother would be happy was Applewood. She has been a resident for six months and only took a short time to settle in. She loves chatting to the staff and making them laugh. Mum enjoys the trips out when she is well enough.
There
are different activities nearly every day and the residents seem to have a great time joining in. I would recommend Applewood to anyone.

I consider this care home second to none, the staff are very caring and understanding of the resident's conditions, nothing is too much trouble for them and they are always cheerful and ready to listen. Activities for the residents are numerous, entertaining and worthwhile. The home itself is always
being updated and is very clean and fresh. Any concerns with my mother I get a phone call to keep me updated.
I am very glad I found this home for my mother, I know she is in safe and caring hands.

My mother has been at Applewood now for 7 months prior to which she lived alone in sheltered accommodation. She is far happier than she has been for years with the constant company as well as plenty of activities and excursions. The carer’s at Applewood are amazing, I wouldn’t have a bad word to say
about any of them and how friendly and helpful they have also been remarked upon by mum’s other visitors.


We visited several homes before Applewood and it was our clear favourite – The manager was extremely helpful in finding mum a room in a hurry and we’ve since received an 'upgrade' too!

Applewood is providing my cousin with excellent care so much so that I feel no need to worry about him. He has a social life which is something he's not had for a long while. I take my hat off to all staff at Applewood for providing their residents with so much variety in their daily lives and for the
very special care that is taken with each and every one of them. They provide not only the individual care and attention but also entertain them with varied sources of activities and lots of valued trips out. I think my cousin has done more at Applewood than he would ever have done had he stayed in his home.

We have found the care home excellent in all areas so far. The open door policy for friends and family gives us a great confidence that the home is aiming to be as much home-like as possible while creating a safe environment for residents. Staff are friendly but not intrusive during visits and, while
occasionally objects (belongings) appear to wander (inevitably) between residents rooms, they are returned when highlighted.
Personally, I love the fact that family are invited to eat (and participate in activities) with residents.
My husband and I have very limited experience of residential/care homes. While it is expensive, it is at market rates and we are very happy with the care provided so far. The manager's communications with us have been great too - with that all important personal touch.

Applewood is a lovely, friendly, caring place that my husband really enjoys visiting for his respite day every week. All the staff are delightful and the place is always spotlessly clean.
When the time comes, I will not hesitate to use Applewood for full-time care.

I have recommended Applewood to a friend and the reason for this is obvious care and dedication of the staff. The individual personal care and attention paid to each resident is heart-warming and hugely reassuring.
I can't think of a nicer, more welcoming environment for a resident - my nan is happier
now than she has been in a long time and that in itself is enough to know she is in the right place. She has been encouraged to join in so many fun things and I cannot tell you what a relief and comfort it is to know that she is getting the most out of her time now.
I really can't thank the staff at Applewood enough - not just for the care they give nan, but the care they give to us when we visit. Everyone smiles, everyone enjoys being there and it really is a beautiful place to spend time with loved ones.

The care and compassion of all the team, not just for residents but for their families and friends alike, is exemplary.
They have all cared for mum through some very difficult and challenging behaviour with nothing but smiles, laughter and genuine concern for her welfare.
I feel happy and comfortable
that mum is receiving excellent care which is tailored to her needs and regularly reviewed.
There's always something going on should residents wish to join in and family and friends are welcome along.
Food is yummy (I speak from personal experience).
I am always welcomed with smiles (and the offer of a cuppa!).
I have attended the virtual dementia tour course which I would highly recommend to all. It was extremely informative and enlightening, giving me an insight into mum's world I would never have seen had Applewood not provided the opportunity.
I highly recommend Applewood. It is a clean, safe and caring environment with compassionate management and staff at all levels.

Wonderfully friendly and caring home. Staff clearly take the time to know the residents personally and use this knowledge to strike up relevant conversations when attending to their needs which makes everything much less stressful. Always a happy atmosphere when I visit and my relative is content

My mother has been in Applewood for just over a year now and I am very happy with the care my mother receives. They have plenty of activities to engage the residents, the facility is kept clean and the food is great. As I live overseas it's good to know my mother is in such capable hands, thank you.

Fantastic care provided by Applewood Care Home, Bramley. Lots of organised outings which the family/ friends can always get involved in. The care home is also going through some refurbishment so is looking really smart with new furniture and decoration. Would not hesitate to recommend to others.

The care mum receives at Applewood is excellent. The staff are all friendly and very caring and I can only admire their endless patience and kindness. The residents are very well looked after, they have the opportunity to go out on lots of trips and there are plenty of activities going on in the home
to keep them interested and entertained. Relatives are made very welcome and it is very comforting to know when we leave after a visit that mum is safe, warm, well-fed and well cared for. Having to put a parent in a home is a difficult thing to do and we are very lucky to have found such a good one - many thanks to the manager and the team!

My dad became a resident at Applewood approximately 12 months ago. My siblings and I have been really happy with dad's care and support during this time. The staff are really supportive and respectful of the residents and are friendly. We've also been really happy that the turnover of staff seems very
low, which we feel offers great continuity for our dad and others. They also do lots of activities and day trips, and document everything really well which is great for us keeping up to date.
