My mum has recently become a resident of Brackenlea, and I cannot fault the way they have cared for her. The staff are friendly kind and caring. It’s lovely to see pictures on Facebook of the residents enjoying different activities. It makes it easier for the family to know she’s happy.

Brackenlea are dedicated in all they do. The activity manager is amazing, The home manager and the team are very obliging, Mum is happy and settled. Food is always available and freshly cooked.
Staff have raised funds to help with building a little shop for the residents.
If there was one criticism
it would be just the easing and ironing of the clothes which are clean. I must add but possibly not ironed and the clothes are not colour coordinated on mum who has always been a smart elegant lady but that isn’t necessarily staffs fault but MUM IS HAPPY THERE!

Brackenlea is such a homely place and makes you welcome on each visit; a drink is offered, which is much appreciated!
I have not seen my mum for weeks due to the Coronavirus epidemic, but I know she is well looked after and the staff support this absence by allowing me to talk to her on the phone
and via video call. They have gone beyond duty in supporting the residents during this unprecedented outbreak, and I am extremely grateful.

My mother arrived at Brackenlea in August 2015 and ever since the family has been delighted with the level of support and understanding shown by everybody on the staff. We continue to be very grateful especially now that the declining and destructive nature of this awful mental condition gradually reduces
her knowledge of her surroundings. We have been greatly comforted by the service and professionalism shown by everybody. We are very pleased to recommend Brackenlea to all who find a loved one with this terrible disease.

I am so pleased that we chose Brackenlea Care Home when my mum could no longer manage at home. The staff are so caring and nothing is ever too much trouble. The activities that they put on are excellent. It really is like a home from home. They are excellent at keeping me informed of all that is going
on, both activity-wise and for example if there is any change to mum's medication by the doctor. I would not hesitate to recommend Brackenlea.

I have been so impressed by the care provided by the staff. They always seem to know what to do whatever the circumstances. They have been adaptable as my mother's needs have changed. They always treat the residents with respect. They lay on activities which are appropriate and they even go above and
beyond in raising money so as to enable the residents to enjoy other activities such as outside visits. There is always a warm and friendly atmosphere whenever I arrive.

My father-in-law who is in his nineties has been living at Brackenlea since May of this year. His health has improved greatly due to the first class care is given by all staff in the home, from being in a very low place, physically and mentally, he is now fitter and enjoys life. He will happily spend
time in his comfortable accommodation or join in with the other residents in the lounge. We have always found the staff to be committed to caring for all residents, making their days full of targeted activities to help maintain their faculties.

My mother has been residing in Brackenlea for almost 3 years. The home is warm and welcoming and the staff do a very good job. There has been a decline in members of staff during my mother's time at Brackenlea, especially at weekends. I have never had any issues with Mum's care here but do get concerned
when staff leave and are not replaced. I feel my mother is well cared for but would benefit from more activities.

I have been very pleased and happy with all areas of mum's care. She is very well looked after, she is well fed and always looks clean and tidy. She very much enjoys the entertainment, which we see via the private social media pages so we can remind mum of what she has done. Mum's physical health had
improved and any illness is very quickly picked up. The staff are amazing and are so kind to mum and we can visit at any time which gives us peace of mind.

Since I have been coming to Brackenlea to see my husband, I have learnt a lot. The staff here are so kind to the residents, nothing is too much trouble. If I ever had to go myself, I would choose Brackenlea.

After taking the difficult decision to place our mum into a care home. On medical advice, we were blessed to find Brackenlea after a difficult search. Brackenlea staff are the most professional, caring and compassionate team you could wish for. They go above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis
to ensure all residents receive the highest quality care. The home is warm, clean, bright and homely. You are always made to feel welcome. We know mum is safe and well cared for, she is happy and feels safe. She loves the staff and couldn't have settled without them.

Beverley

Beverley Rice

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2000

Beverley has been here at Brackenlea for 22 years. Beverley's first role was a care assistant and she was soon promoted to senior carer then onto assistant manager before taking up her current role as registered manager in 2010. Her qualifications include registered manager and NVQ 4.
Not only does Beverley ensure the smooth running of the home she also always works to a high standard ensuring that our residents are always treated as an individual whilst respecting their dignity.
Beverley has a good relationship with residents, their families and her peers.
