We wish to say what a wonderful team there is at Brookfield Residential Home, from the manager down to the cleaner. Mum's end-of-life care was so special, they looked after her so well, they let my sister and myself stay with her 24/7. Everyone treated her with so much love and respect and after she
passed, they were so helpful to us, nothing was too much for them. We want to thank them for the love and care that Mum received during this difficult time, they made it so special.

Mum has been at Brookfield Residential Home since just before Christmas and we count our blessings every day that she was offered a place here and we took it. The care and attention from all the staff, whatever their position, is second to none. Mum is treated with love and respect and nothing is too
small for them to attend to. She has gained weight, looks well and is far happier than she has been in a long time with the care and company that she now has. Thank you to everyone there.

This establishment may not look fancy and shiny but don't let the building put you off. The people who run it and work there are the ones who shine. My father has had wonderful care from the entire team, He has dementia and is incapable of doing anything for himself and is 96 years old. The staff do
everything for him including making him smile and feel safe in the scary world he now finds himself in. The manager and her team are truly wonderful friendly generous people.

Now my mother has been in Brookfield for one year, I feel able to write a review. The home has a homely feel with the decor to match. All the staff are very friendly and caring, a view shared by my mother. Her room is cosy and kept very tidy. She is happy with the food and drinks and the choices. She
now enjoys joining in the activities. I think it is a well-run home.

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Brookfield. They treated my father and our family with kindness, compassion and respect.
My father said, "nothing is too much trouble for them".
In his dying days, the nursing care given was everything that we could ask for.

In residence at Brookfield for six weeks. Felt well cared for. Brookfield was the only residential home in this area which would take me to convalescence as the result of an accident. Although I kept to my room, rather than mixing with the other residents, the staff were flexible, kind and met all my
requests. This is an excellent family-run residential home, having been in the same family since 1980.

This small family-run care home ensures residents' needs are placed at the forefront of everything. Staff to resident ratio is high and residents' needs are quickly assessed, and at all times the appropriate action either medical or personal is taken. The quality of care is outstanding and delivered
by staff who are keen to really get to know both residents and their family members as friends. Dementia care is of the highest standard delivered by trained staff who are aware of its many complex needs. Food is home-cooked on the premises is outstanding and a different and balanced daily menu is delivered in a friendly manner. Daily activities relieved boredom.

My partner has resided at Brookfield Residential Home since March 2022. During that time I have found him to be cheerful as far as I know, well-fed, always clean and looking forward to our visits.

My nan lived at Brookfield for the last few years, she was very happy. The staff are always friendly and happy to help in any way, communication is excellent, we were always kept up to date. Nan's room was lovely and clean, there was always lots of activities going on and my nan loved the food, the
cakes and puddings were the highlight of her day. The management and staff worked very hard through Covid to ensure that we could keep in contact and visit with Nan as much as possible.

We were very happy with the care my mother received during the 5 years she lived at Brookfield. The residential home is in a pleasant location. Mum's room had ensuite facilities and like the rest of the home, kept spotlessly clean.

The staff are always welcoming and were helpful with any of Mum's

requests or needs. The managers, seniors and carers are clearly skilled and have a positive and caring nature to both residents and visitors.

We felt that Mum was in a safe and protected environment which gave us complete peace of mind and we knew that at all times she would receive the care she needed.

Sadly Mum passed away recently at the age of 98 after a short illness and the end of life care was exceptional which gave us great comfort.

When my mum found it too difficult to live without 24 hour carers in attendance I was really concerned that she may end up in an institutional type environment. Brookfield is anything but this. It is a real home with people who care and support its residents and treats them as individuals. The staff
go out of their way to make sure everyone gets the most out of their day something which is critical at this time of life. Everyone is friendly and they quickly make you feel as if you are part of an extended family.
After being a resident for over three years my mum passed away earlier this year at the age of 89. Although that is sad I take solace in the fact that her fading years were happy and she was surrounded by people who genuinely cared for her.

I cannot praise enough the care given by Brookfield to my mum who sadly passed away on 23rd August.

It was unbelievable value for money. It felt like a home to us all even mum called it her home after resisting going into care in January.

Staff and management are incredibly warm, friendly, caring

and professional. You could not ask for more. Services transport and billing efficient and prompt. They went to extraordinary lengths to transport mum to/from the hospital several times and offered to provide carers for us when out on local trips. They encouraged pets to be brought in for mum who loved dogs.

I highly recommend this care home. With enormous and grateful thanks.

Always a warm, friendly welcome by all staff and the greatest of welcomes by residents too! The home is just a 'home from home'. Very relaxing, immaculately clean, wonderful staff and the prompt reactions to any medical needs, a Doctor is there a.s.a.p. to attend. Very happy my sister in law is there
and contented. Well cared for and this family given peaceful minds!

My wife had a cerebral haemorrhage 10 years ago. She now suffers from dementia. She has been a resident at 'Brookfield' for 3 and a half years and is really content. Brookfield is a great home with a fully caring and loving family atmosphere which also includes visitors. I visit everyday and I could
not ask for a better or happy setting.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.361)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.361) out of 10 for Brookfield Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.561 for Brookfield Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (70 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.561

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brookfield Residential Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
