My poor husband suffered so much in the last days of his life. This place is awful, the end of life care is dreadful. Three days before he died I found him in agony with his head on the foot of the bed. He was crying and said to me for gods sake help me. When he died he was left eyes bulging mouth wide
open, it was like a horror movie. Bad management all the way, no one should end up like this. I am sorry I have nothing good to say about this place. I have many more stories, none good. The experience has shaken me.

Our staff are committed to providing the highest standard of care. We take all concerns/complaints seriously, using them as opportunities for reflection and continuous improvement. Upon being made aware of this complaint, we commissioned an independent Health and Social Care consultant to conduct a thorough investigation. The findings confirmed no evidence of unprofessional conduct or poor practice in relation to the sad passing of our resident. As part of the investigation, external healthcare professionals who regularly support residents at Chestnut Court were consulted. They confirmed that they attended on a regular basis, no concerns were found. The investigation also determined that some of the claims made in the review were not factually accurate. Whilst this person was a resident, their care, respect, and dignity remained our utmost priority. We understand that losing a loved one is an incredibly difficult time, we extend our sincere condolences to the family during this time.

The overall care from all staff - nurses, cleaners to management has been excellent. My husband has been unwell on several occasions - it has been picked up quickly, medical attention has been sought in a very quick manor. They always call me so I can attend and on the last occasion we decided to treat
in the home they were seeing him every 30 minutes to hydrate and turn him.
Any issues are dealt with promptly and with no fuss. Activities are daily and they encourage residents to join in which I couldn't achieve at home. He's now needing help with feeding and has become incontinent and these have been managed before I even realised they were an issue.

Dad moved into the care home in June 2024.
The experience from my point of view was very easy to arrange.
More importantly though is Dads experience - he has found everyone to be kind and caring and has settled in extremely well.
All the staff have made me very welcome during my weekly visits with
coffee and help with Dad.
My sincere thanks to all concerned at Chestnut Court Care Home.

My Aunt was happy and well cared for at Chestnut Court for many years until she passed away at the end of March. I have been impressed by the management team and admired their compassion, dedication, and patience whilst they cared for and ensured the safety and well-being of my Aunt. The property itself
has seen many improvements recently. Compared to other care homes I have visited, Chestnut Court appears welcoming, bright, and cheerful with plenty of visual stimulation for the residents.

My wife was there for two weeks respite care and was (as far as one can tell) very happy and well cared for. I was impressed with the management team and their diligence in ensuring she was both safe and, by liasing with our GP, received all her medication in the correct manner. While there my wife
experienced a small seizure and they cared for her well with the help of a visiting nurse friend and the paramedics.
I would have no hestitation in placing her there again if the need arose.

The staff are all very caring, ensuring the residents are well looked after. Regular meals and drinks. During the summer, regular outings. Activities on a daily basis, including balloon volley ball and a variety of musicians playing music that the residents can sing along to or dance to. Whenever I
visit I am always welcomed and included with anything that is happening, such as drink time at 3pm and joining in with balloon volleyball.
Nurses and Doctors visit every Monday to conduct regular check ups. The Home Manager is very easy to talk to about anything to do with my friend. I am happy to recommend Chestnut Court to everyone and I'm keeping it in mind for when or if I need their services myself.

My friend has been a resident for about three months. It has taken a while to settle in. All the staff have been on the wrong end of her temper, but the staff have been patient and supportive. I visit about once per week, they always have a welcoming smile and are attentive. The property is having some
internal renovations and new carpet soon. The place is always clean and tidy and the daily menu is different.

I found it very interesting to see what happens in a nursing home but I could not do the job. The staff at Chestnut Court Care Home are very good to the people around them. My mother is currently residing at Chestnut Court. She initially came in for respite, she needed a cataract operation which has now been done and she can see again. Mum is an independent person and despite not being able to see, lived independently up until a few months ago. Sadly my mother's rings
went missing from Chestnut Court. I discovered this when I visited her on 9th June. The care home did not inform me of this, my mother is/was very traumatised. One of the rings was a family heirloom and very valuable and the other ring also valuable was a gift from her late partner. I was not informed that the jewellery was missing and no investigation was done until I reported the missing items to the police.
The story of how and when the rings went missing consistently changed, a ring was found, it had a slight similarity to Mum's ring but on seeing it, it definitely wasn’t hers. Another resident told me her ring was also missing. My mother treasured her rings and never let them out of her sight.

Whilst every care is taken to ensure our resident’s property is kept safe, items can and do get lost or misplaced. For this reason, we discourage residents from bringing jewellery into the home. Rings are such small items and can be dropped and lost very easily. A full investigation was carried out in respect of the missing rings, unfortunately, these could not be located. Our duty is to our client and it is not always possible to discuss matters with family members. Our full investigation confirmed that some of the expressions in this review are not factually correct.

My mom has been in Chestnut Court Care Home for a year now. The level of care she receives I believe is second to none. The manager is so incredibly kind, caring and friendly as well as wholly professional. This ethos is therefore passed down to her team who all show such a high level of care and kindness
to their residents.
Whenever I visit, the team and the residents are so friendly and welcoming, it is a delight to be there.
There seems to be nothing that is too much trouble for the staff and they seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs.

We are so happy that my mum has found her way to Chestnut Court Care Home. She calls it "home" and is relaxed and feels safe.
The staff are all amazing and will do anything to help her, she only has to ask. Nothing is too much trouble. Everyone (without exception) is cheerful, friendly, so helpful
land very efficient. We only looked at one care home, we didn't need to look further. So well managed.

Had a very good, in-depth discussion about my uncle's interests and hobbies with a view to encouraging him in activities in the home. This was wonderful to know that the activities at the home are not a general 'one size fits all' and that residents are able to engage in whatever suits the individual.
My uncle is a keen amateur painter and having some of his own work hanging in his room is a reminder daily of what he is capable of and he is starting to take it up again.
When I arrived, a singer was present and most residents happily joined in and my uncle remembered his dancing days and danced with the carers. A joy to experience!

This is the second care home my husband has been in. At last, he seems more relaxed. The staff are caring and have taken the time to understand and cater for his needs. I have confidence in the team at Chestnut Court Rest Home and have no problem with recommending this 'genuine' care home.

My mother has been living in her own home with domiciliary carers going in four times a day but, at 95 and now unable to be safe there, the time came for her to have 24-hour care.
We visited Chestnut Court Rest Home and were immediately struck by the warm atmosphere, cleanliness and all-round good
vibe. The deputy manager talked us through everything and was happy to answer all of our questions. On the day Mum moved in, everything possible was done to make the transition smooth and welcoming.
We were asked to provide lots of helpful information about Mum's life, interests and family to assist the carers with subjects to open conversation with her.
She has now been happily settled in her newly carpeted and decorated room for one month. I can honestly say that the deputy manager and all the staff have gone out of their way to make Mum feel at home and kept good contact with us all.
As a family, we can not thank everyone at Chestnut Court enough.
