Dawson Lodge in Southampton is a purpose-built home supporting up to 43 older people to live a comfortable lifestyle, as well as providing dementia care. It is located in West End, close to road and public transport links.

The home strives to deliver a range of residential care services, including convalescence care; respite care; trial stays and long-term care for those who can no longer look after themselves.

The care team at Dawson Lodge gets to know customers and work with them to organise stimulating activities that match individual and group interests, both in the care home as well as in the local community.

Each customer’s individual needs are regularly assessed to ensure their care plans meet their lifestyle requirements. Meals are cooked fresh and from locally sourced and seasonal ingredients where possible by a highly trained Chef Manager and catering staff.

It broke my heart having to put Mum in a care home, then it broke all over again when I had to move her to a different one because she wasn't happy in the first. Finding Dawson Lodge, however, has been a saviour for both of us and knowing she is now happy and well looked after is a huge relief!
All
the staff are marvellous, from the manager who is superb and has her finger very much on the home's pulse, to the wonderfully helpful receptionist.
The team leaders will often greet me with updates on how Mum is doing which is very much appreciated and they are also happy to sit down and have a more formal discussion if I need to.
The staff greet Mum by name when we walk around the home and she has grown attached to many of them already. They do such a super job, providing personal care and trying to engage her in activities, one to one if necessary. The dining room especially has a great buzz and the food is pretty impressive!
Overall Dawson Lodge has a very homely and happy atmosphere because everyone works hard to make it so.

I am so pleased that I came here as all of the staff are so caring.
The situation of the home is perfect as it is so accessible in one aspect, yet so private in another. The house itself is ideal for the purpose, with well-appointed rooms, and the grounds are a delight to walk in.
The food is of
a very high standard.
Activities - whether physical or mental are always enjoyable and beneficial.
Visitors are welcomed, and those who have come to see me have been full of praise.
I am pleased to be able to voice this appreciation.

As a companion of a resident who has recently moved to Challoner, I am very impressed with the level of care and the respect given to residents. My companion's quality of life has improved 100%.
They are already more mobile and articulate. Staff work with me to help provide the best level of care and
are prompt to respond to concerns raised. The costs are extremely reasonable and administration of additional small costings are very efficient. Highly recommend.

Always receive a warm welcome on arrival from the receptionist. The ambience of the home is very good. The staff are helpful and well presented. The rooms are homely and bright due to their policy of encouraging residents to bring things from their homes. I would be extremely likely to recommend this

Dad has been at Dawson Lodge nearly 2 months. It is a vast improvement over his previous care home which we quickly realised did not meet Dad’s needs. The fantastic receptionist showed us around. Her enthusiasm was typical amongst the staff and we knew within minutes this was the place for Dad. The
home is purpose-built with light and airy ‘public’ rooms whilst the bedrooms are en-suite and have a mini-kitchenette. We also noted many ‘little’ things that made a difference such as tablecloths and menus at mealtimes and individually decorated bedroom doors with addresses familiar to the resident. The comprehensive admissions process identified Dad’s needs. The food is great and there is a daily programme of activities for those who want to take part. I must mention the handyman who involves male residents in some light DIY and some ‘man time’. I would strongly recommend a visit to Dawson Lodge when contemplating a care home if only to see how good the others should be!

The gardens are a good feature.

We were very impressed with the home right from the start. From the initial enquiry to Mum's moving in for respite care was 3 days. Mum has been very well looked after throughout her stay. The food is very good and Mum could not have been better looked after. The staff have encouraged Mum to take part
in activities.

Dawson Lodge is a lovely home to be in and I'm so pleased my husband managed to get in there. He has a very nice sunny room and a good view!
I am very happy that he is so happy with everything especially the meals/food!

A very secure home, well decorated and from the reception to all the staff, very friendly and helpful and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The only problem is at times there is a bit of a difficulty to park at times, but not often.
