Downs House is situated amid beautiful Hampshire countryside, less than a mile from the thriving market town of Petersfield. It was established in 1976 and has been providing high quality care to the people of Petersfield and the surrounding villages ever since.

The accommodation consists of 46 tastefully appointed and fully furnished bedrooms. Residents can make use of the delightful public areas, which include a large lounge, sun lounge and orangery which open onto a lovely landscaped gardens, there is wheelchair access throughout the home and gardens.

My mother moved into Downs House Care Home in November 2019, aged 99. She settled in very easily thanks to the kindness of the staff who welcomed her into their family. She enjoyed two Christmases and her 100th birthday there with great celebrations. She was well cared for - her clothes were always
clean and her lovely garden room was comfortable and clean. She enjoyed having baths again and the companionship in the dining room. We could not have found a better place for her.

The best in that zone. Everything is great the staff are much better trained every day! the carers seem to be working with more attention with everything they need and, the food they eat is very good! The position of the care home is very good, ambient nature good air!

I've been here for two months and all the staff have been very welcoming. The room is spacious and kept clean and tidy. The food is excellent, especially the deserts. I am well looked after and all the staff are very helpful and caring. Nothing is too much trouble for them and my comfort is important
to them. The night staff are equally attentive, it is a lovely location and I am very happy here.

My neighbour moved into Downs House last month after several falls at home, we looked at several homes but found Downs House to be the most welcoming and our preferred choice. The manager was very supportive during our visit and spent a great deal of time answering our questions. Since moving in we
have found the whole team to have the same attitude, nothing is too much trouble. The home is clean and well presented with a lot of activities going on. My neighbour is the happiest I have seen her in a long time, this is thanks to the team at Downs House. This is truly a wonderful home that I would recommend.

Downs House is an exceptional home. My grandmother has really settled in. She has gone from living at home alone to living with a lovely group of people, she has made new friends with both residents and staff. She is a new person thanks to the care and support of the staff at Downs House. We are even
able to stop and have lunch with her. The home is beautiful and the staff are amazing.

The staff are very kind and there is plenty of feed and it is very good, I liked the home cooked food. The staff encourage me to do as much for myself as I can and always tell me to ring the bell if I need help.


The laundry comes back clean and the bed is comfortable in my room. I like the view from

my room. I have poor vision but I can make out the shapes and colours. It is mostly trees I can see.

My Mother has lived in Downs House since October 2015 and knew from the start it was the right decision. We came to Downs House on a friend's recommendation and we have not been disappointed. Mum has had excellent care from the start. The manager is wonderful and really 'leads' from the front and is
extremely caring and can always answer any queries and concerns. I cannot recommend Downs House more highly!

My father maintained his independence into his 99th year. But relying on others for his shopping and cleaning. However, with a tendency to fall and accidents in the kitchen full-time care became the only option.
The room and facilities at Downs House could not be bettered and after a two week totally
flexible trial period he did not want to leave. The staff are hardworking and attentive. There are activities every day and twice a day. Families are encouraged to visit and to be involved. It could not be better and my father is very happy and at peace with himself.

Downs House struck me as being different from the moment I walked in the door. Very personal, friendly and more like a home than a care home. Although it has some of the normal issues - bad laundry service/average food, the important bits are first class ie. the residents are well looked after and
the staff seem to really care. The home is run by a family and this shows in the feel the care home has.
