My review is only formed from visits to a close/old friend who is a male resident. The overall impression of the care home is a friendly place where the staff are always very friendly, polite and always helpful. There is a fairly large front lounge and rear dining room/lounge where food is served, but
residents can choose to eat in their rooms. The rooms are basic but have all the necessary facilities, all with call boxes for assistance or help. Beds and bedding could be of slightly better quality. The corridors however can be a little daunting and can confuse residents who suffer from dementia. Generally good overall.

I just want to take this opportunity to reassure you that we periodically audit furniture and bedding within the home to ensure it is of good repair and replace as required. If your friend would like alternatives or a better quality this is something we can discuss, so please let us know if this is the case. As for the corridors, we do have dementia friendly signage in place, fitted as recommended, with the impact on its placement being considered throughout, however I can appreciate navigation can still be challenging for some individuals. We welcome any suggestions you or anyone else may have.

First-class care in all aspects is provided in a warm and welcoming environment. Imbued with an inclusive and informed approach, the staff are professional, thoughtful, and caring. My mum moved into Forest Edge Care home in April 2024, and after only being there a short time mum settled in quickly. Whenever I go to visit I'm met by a friendly member of staff who are always happy to answer any questions I have. The home is very clean and tidy and my mum enjoys the range of home-cooked
meals provided. I always see the staff walking around engaging with the residents, and taking the time to listen to them too.

My mum moved to Forest Edge Care Home in December 2023. She is a lot happier there than she was in her previous care home. The staff are friendly and attentive and cater to all of Mum's needs. They are also very happy to answer any questions that I may have regarding her care. Forest Edge is spotlessly
clean and tidy. The meals served are homecooked and enjoyed by the residents. There are frequent activities offered to residents and Mum enjoys the entertainment
Overall, Forest Edge is friendly and welcoming and I am very pleased that Mum is comfortable and happy in her surroundings.

Since moving to Forest Edge my wife has been much happier and well cared for. The staff have always been helpful and friendly and she enjoys their company. She is happy with her room with a garden view and the facilities provided.
Sometimes it is not easy to get through on the phone and the response
to messages left on the phone can be a little slow.

I could not be happier with the care supplied by Forest Edge Care Home. My initial concern was for the safety of my mother because of her condition. This having been totally satisfied I was then concerned with the care and attention that would be given. They have continued to ensure she is well looked
after and emphasis given to her unsteadiness adopting a policy of ensuring she is monitored at all times. Attention given to her mobility has ensured that she is not now in a nursing home and where I feel she would not be with us still.
Overall I am extremely happy with the attention, care and support that has continued to be given to my mother during her time at this home.

My husband has advanced frontal lobe dementia and can at times present with challenging behaviour. I am confident that the staff are well trained to manage his varying moods even in the short time he has been with them. All staff are always very friendly and approachable. I’m always welcomed to visit
at any time and am happy my husband is well cared for.

The home is very welcoming. The staff are really friendly and kind to both residents and visitors. My Mum settled in quickly and enjoys the food. She is always clean and nicely dressed and enjoys sitting in the lounge with the other residents.

On the whole, we are happy with the care home.
Our family member engages with the staff as best she can (owing to her individual needs) and she is settled and happy there.
On personal observations, the care home is kept warm, clean and tidy and the team are always very welcoming.
I feel a bit
'on the outside' with regard to the general operation of the care home and wonder if a regular newsletter, at either monthly/quarterly intervals, could be available (via email or in paper form) to allow us more insight into the activities/outings/events our family member interacts with.

Since my aunt became a resident at Forest Edge the staff have been so helpful in looking after her and accommodating her various needs despite her being a somewhat feisty and sometimes aggressive character.
The management always have time to talk to the family and are most resourceful in dealing with
my aunt’s needs given her Alzheimer’s.
We have seen the meals served to our aunt and cannot fault the quality. They have also been most helpful in providing meals specifically tailored to our aunt’s requests.

I found the Forest Edge is a friendly happy place and is kept clean and is run well. The staff are always polite. I haven’t been there in the evening but I understand that the residents have entertainment and games some nights of the week.

No issues with the care home. Seem to look after my mum very well.
The staff are very good. I can see my mum on short notice and sometimes without notice. I find the manager very good, as well as his team assisting.

At 97 years of age with little cognitive ability, hard of hearing and with poor eyesight, my mother is cared for amazingly well. I visit often and have always found the staff caring and supportive. In particular, this Christmas the staff were great, helping to get all residents to enjoy as best they
could a happy Christmas. I am delighted with the care provided and my mother is as happy as she could be.

Forest Edge has consistently and compassionately looked after both my mum and until 18 months ago my dad. They are kind, thoughtful and understanding. They give my mum who has end Alzheimer’s choices and control over her life and care. They allow her the freedom to live as independently as she can
while keeping her safe. We are kept informed of her care via calls and emails and are welcomed to visit without the need to make an appointment at any time. The only downside is the fabric of the building could do with some updating and care but the residents don’t seem to notice!

Mum has been in the care of Forest Edge since April, took a while to settle but is now happy.
The staff are always friendly and polite, face to face and on the telephone.
Covid protocols mean all visits are in a designated room with access to a tidy and pleasant garden with lots of seating, so unable
to comment on communal areas or her own room.
From the outside the home is bright and welcoming and I know talking to mum there is good housekeeping and laundry routines.
I know mum is safe and well looked after.

Mum has been in Forest Edge Care Home since December 2021 unfortunately amidst the pandemic and covid rules. It has been a very unsettling time especially when visiting is restricted to the garden or a small visitor's room. We have not been in the home so I am unable to make comment about that. But
the staff are very caring and understanding as I see when visiting Mum. Also very patient staff. She always looks well cared for, clean and dressed. She has her hair done by the hairdresser and her feet by a podiatrist. Unfortunately, the home still insists on gloves, apron and mask even on visiting in the garden, this is totally unnecessary and a waste of PPE! I would recommend Forest Edge Care Home, Mum was in several care homes prior to this home and they were unable to cope with her and provide care to her specific needs. Forest Edge have shown a holistic approach when caring for Mum and are doing a good job. I am thankful to all involved in her care. As it is very upsetting for Mum with Dementia.

I am really pleased at all of the positive things you have said. It really does mean a lot when we hear these sorts of things.
The things you have mentioned around Covid and PPE are measures we are taking to protect all of our staff, residents, health care professionals and our visitors.
These are the reason we have stayed as clear of Covid as we have.
I'm not sure of the last time you visited but our visiting room was changed in April and is now a large room with access to our garden and patio area. Mum's room overlooks this area too so you can see it anytime.
We are hoping to have a bit more normality back by the end of the summer so you will be able to see more of the home.

Well I must say that they are all lovely people there and the staff and the management are very courteous and polite. I look after my partner for a period of 7 years before she was diagnosed with dementia in 2018 and I was not able to manage/cope. My partner has now been in Forest Edge for a total of
two years and I know they are looking after her and that she is in the best place. I know for a fact that the home has been coping with Covid absolutely rigorously and I test every time I go there to take my partner out. I would congratulate them on their efforts to look after my partner and all the other residents. Thank you to all.
