Mum had to go into a home when her dementia became unmanageable. Considering we weren't able to look around the property because of Covid, we couldn't have made a better choice. We had issues with the CQC report, which were answered honestly and positively by the manager. Mum hasn't looked this well
in a long time. The staff are wonderful, so patient and caring. Many of them are young, and the patience they demonstrate with the residents is admirable. I would not hesitate to recommend Forest Edge.

I have always had positive experiences with Forest Edge. Satisfied that Mum is well cared for by caring and attentive staff. The home is well run and has coped extremely well during the pandemic. Always kept well informed of Mum’s wellbeing.

The staff have always been excellent. They keep us informed of any issues. They provide a friendly and caring environment, and apparently, the food is excellent. Throughout all these turbulent times, I have been confident that my father is safe and well looked after.

Mum has been with Forest Edge for 10 months and in that time I have found staff helpful, polite and caring. I had many questions in respect of Mum going into long term care and staff have taken the time to carefully and sympathetically explain things and give reassurances. I have been able to speak
to Mum regularly on the telephone and on occasion, I have given feedback to staff which has been both acted upon and monitored. I have indeed been encouraged to express thoughts or views in respect of Mum's care and well-being. Forest Edge has a very friendly atmosphere and a homely environment. Mum's room, although small, is kept very clean as are all the public areas I have seen. Her lunchtime meal is varied and nutritional and Mum looks forward to that each day. Mum has had some minor health concerns but in the main these have been addressed promptly. To sum up, I feel that Forest Edge treat Mum with kindness, dignity and respect and that she is being well cared for at present.

I have always found the staff welcoming and supportive. A happy and friendly environment and a good to high level of care. All residents are given a choice of menu and where possible all tastes and diets are well catered for.

I found the home was extremely well managed. Mum's choices were always honoured. She was treated with dignity at all times. The home's housekeeping routines ensured Mum's room was clean and tidy throughout the day and her personal clothing was carefully laundered and returned to her daily.
Mum's specialist
diet was maintained by the chief who discussed her menu with both Mum and family members who were aware of her favourite dishes. The local G.P. and health services regularly visited Mum and access to these services was promptly provided when required.
All members of staff maintained an excellent relationship with Mum and continually checked in on her for a chat making sure she had all she needed. Continuous care was provided throughout Mum's final days and she was treated with both dignity and care at all times.
I would recommend this home to family members and can not fault the level of expertise shown by both the management team and all staff members involved in Mum's care.

My mum has been at Forest Edge now for a good six months and the change in her is amazing, she is well looked after with regular hot meals, bathed, hair cut, feet tended to, nails done, all medication looked after can't really thank them enough.
All the staff are lovely and friendly. Thank you !!!

Mum was very happy at Forest Edge and thought of the staff as family. Her stay was only a few months as her dementia progressed quickly but the care she received was excellent and preserved her dignity at all times. The compassion shown in her last days was wonderful, helped by the close links with
the local surgery.
The home is clean but not clinical, making it a real home. Mum enjoyed the activities and the routines of the home. Our only regret is we didn't access it earlier.

Forest Edge is one of the cleanest - maybe spotless - care homes I have ever visited over the past few years. Even after meals, the staff clean up within seconds making the home a joy to visit (and a welcome change from many places I have been).

Mother has been a resident now for quite a few months, she loves Forest Edge and all the staff. They all work very hard!! A lovely, safe, clean environment. The meals are freshly cooked and presentation is of a high standard. You are always greeted with a smile on arrival visit, most people would worry
where their relatives are going and what sort of care home it is, but let me reassure anyone who is looking for a place, "Forest Edge" has everything you and your loved one would expect from a care home.
The manager has a great team of staff who all work together and that is what I call excellent team building. Well done!!! Keep it up.

We were concerned when mother could no longer be at home and needed residential care, not least because of her dementia, she believed she could cope okay.
We were supported at every step of the way by the management who welcomed my mother and demonstrated patience even before she arrived. The home
was always clean and smart, not at all institutional and always appeared fully staffed.
I was concerned how mother would cope with the daily activities, as she had been living alone and isolated for 10 years, she was well supported and activities were geared to the ability and capacity of residents.
What impressed me most was the care shown by the care workers, who met every need with a smile. They looked in to check how mother was in a warm and friendly way even if on duties elsewhere, visitors and family were always welcome.
Healthcare is well provided by local the GP practice and the nursing team. When the time came, care plans were sensitively discussed and implemented in an accommodating manner.

After initial "teething" problems which were soon sorted out, I felt that my husband was settling in quickly. The staff are always ready to listen and answer any of my concerns and are always present around the residents and interacting with them.
The home is clean and the lounges fairly big and light
so there is plenty of room for the residents to sit where they wish.

Welcoming, warm and friendly to both my mother and my husband and I. Clean, bright environment. Clearly lots of entertainment and activities for my mother to join in with and giving her a photograph of her dancing with one of the staff was a lovely touch! It helped us talk to her about her few days
respite. We will most definitely ask for my mother to be placed there again. Mother also said she loved the food!

My mum had been a resident at Forest Edge for just over 2 1/2 years.
The management stated that they like to promote a "home from home" feel, that is exactly what they did for my mum.
We always found it to be friendly and professional. The staff were very welcoming and would always offer refreshments
on visits.
Mum had a room overlooking the rear garden which was stunning and suited her as she loved the outdoors.
Food was freshly cooked at the home and mealtime choices were given daily, the meals always looked very appetising whenever I visited.


Also, my mums birthday was celebrated with all of the other residents, having a buffet meal and cake.
There was an activity planner for each month and it was displayed for everyone to see. Mum did not join in every day but was always asked.
The management were always very approachable and would always try to accommodate us with anything we required.
Overall mum was very happy at Forest Edge and made a couple of good friends whilst here.

My mum has been here at Forest Edge for a few months as it was recommended by a friend. I had concerns with things I have heard about care homes in general, but all I can say is my mum constantly says on every visit how nice everyone is. They are always friendly, talkative and nothing seems too much
trouble. The food alway looks good quality and if the residents ask for something else, they try their best to accommodate. All the residents seem very happy there.

I cannot praise enough the care offered to my husband during his two-week stay for respite. Everything was just lovely - the care provided, the kindness of the staff, and the food. The home was lovely and clean and he was very well looked after. I would certainly be happy for him to stay there again
and be confident in the knowledge that he would be happy to do so. Thank you to everyone involved in his care at Forest Edge.

The hard decision to admit my Mother to Forest Edge in early 2016 was made after visiting three Care Homes. As a family, we made the choice based on the large room available, the friendliness of the staff and a personal recommendation.
As Mum is an Alzheimer's sufferer but is used to some independence,
the care was adjusted to her needs and capabilities.
It is reassuring to know that in emergency situations, the team act quickly and efficiently, always communicating promptly. After hospital admissions, the care has proven to be exemplary.
They recognise the need to monitor and encourage residents when they have poor appetites, encouraging the person with alternative meal options whenever possible.
Once the decision is made to move a loved one to a Care Home, there are initial feelings of guilt, but as time goes on there is the realisation that they are in a safe caring environment, which Forest Edge provides.

Forest Edge Care Home is a light, bright, airy and welcoming place. There is a friendly happy atmosphere.


The activities offered are various, well thought out and delivered with sensitivity.


Staff members are always cheerful, approachable and very helpful. A management member is always available,

very approachable and flexible to the individual's need.


I have found that my Mother is always listened to, given respect and her dignity is upheld.

Mum was recommended to Forest Edge care home by a friend of someone who went into the home for one week for respite care then did not want to return to her own home.


This was a very high recommendation and the home has proved to be a very kind, caring, clean and secure home. Mum is very happy to

be there along with the other residents. Her room is adequate and has a nice view of the garden.


The meals are of a high standard and are always freshly prepared and varied, cooked meals are hot and not warmed up. The carers are always kind and respectful to the residents and courteous to visitors. The security, which I have experienced, is of a very high standard.


Forest Edge is not a large care home, which I think is a benefit as it has a more homely feeling like a family community. Residents know, and are known by, all the staff and are not just a number.

My mother was admitted to Forest Edge Care Home on an emergency basis, hence the choice of an appropriate room was not available.
Her room was pleasant, facing the rear garden and she was well cared-for during her nine-day stay with regard to personal cleanliness and adequate meals.
She was able
to receive visitors daily, visitors being offered refreshments on arrival, which were much appreciated making visits more of an occasion for everyone.
I was unhappy about the toilet and washing facilities being behind a flimsy curtain just inside the door, minimising my mother's privacy - but, as stated, this was an emergency admission and this negative aspect had to be accepted. (I do feel, however, that this style of the "ensuite" facility should be addressed and altered to a more conventional, private washroom/toilet.)
I am not sure my mother received adequate attention from staff, i.e. being chatted to regularly, but appreciate that they were kept busy with more pressing needs elsewhere.

Here at Forest Edge, we encourage all of our residents to spend time in the communal areas, to socialise with each other and with staff and to take part in the wide variety of activities we offer every day. However, we do realise that this is not to everyone’s taste and because of this, we offer various alternatives activity-wise for those happier in their own company. We aim to include and give as much time as possible to our residents and keep everyone involved, no matter what their interests or preferences. We always welcome any suggestions or new ideas on how best to do this.
In regards to the layout of our rooms and the facilities available here at Forest Edge, we do offer both closed and open plan ensuite toilet facilities, depending on the room. Due to the changing needs and abilities of our residents, we feel it is important in a care home setting to have use of the extra space available in our open plan en-suite facilities where necessary, meaning we are still able to care for our residents at the highest standard and in the way best suited to them. Again, we do appreciate that this is not suited to everybody, which is why we provide a clinical curtain for our residents that choose to use this. Our resident’s privacy is, of course, extremely important to us, which is why all staff will knock and wait for a response before entering anybody’s room.
