Everyone at The Gatehouse is so caring, friendly and helpful.
My aunt has been here for a long time and always receives a very high standard of care.
The activities are non-stop.
The food always looks delicious.

My sister-in-law has been in this lovely care home since January 2024, she settled immediately in the homely, friendly atmosphere. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, the activities are amazing, every day something for everybody, it is immaculate everywhere and the food is so good with such varied
menus and choice.

I visited a lot of care homes in the area before I found this one and this one is by far the best. The staff are amazing. A jewel in the Crown. I have such peace of mind knowing my Mum is so well looked after. It's a lovely little place, feels like home and both myself and my Mum are so happy we have
found such a great place.

My mother took up residence at The Gatehouse in August 2023. She is so well looked after and after her being confused as to where she was living. She soon adapted and is so happy there. The whole team at The Gatehouse are exceptional. And the staff care so much about the residents. Management always
contact us if any concerns about my mum's health and there's always a GP available if needed. There is so much going on for the residents in the form of activities. I love to join in with mum when I can. You are made so welcome as visitors and the home encourages visiting at any time. I've built a lovely relationship with all the staff and I'm so happy with the care mum receives. I would rate the home one of the best in the area.

I am very happy with the care my mum receives at The Gatehouse. Do not be fooled by '5 star hotel' type care homes. Having tried other grander homes previously, my mum is now well cared for, treated with affection, her needs met and she is happy and feels that she is special and importantly the staff
have a laugh with her. I don't feel there is anything I can complain about. I have complete peace of mind about her being there and if I do have any concerns then the Manager is very approachable and responsive. The office door is always open. They are also good at communicating and updating. The food is good and always available. The facilities/bedrooms are good. Based on my and my mum's previous experiences there is no doubt the most important thing when looking for a care home is not the surroundings. It is the staff who work there. At The Gatehouse they do not use agency staff who do not know the residents. This helps my mum know she is safe and ensures continuity of care.

Excellent service and very friendly and the staff are welcoming keep up the great work. My mother was very happy and she was there for two weeks respite, and she would go back when she couldn't cope at home thank you all.

My father has been a resident at the Gatehouse for almost a year and I can honestly say we could not have found a better home for him to be in. He has settled in remarkably well, having lived independently up until a fall late last year. He has been treated with care, respect, kindness, humour and understanding
(he is 101 years old, and does not have dementia, so is very able to communicate with everyone!), by all the staff who work there. He enjoys his food, with the cooks regularly adjusting meals to suit his needs, no red meat, not too much sugar, small slices of fresh fruit and of course a glass of red wine! Knowing he is so well looked after, has taken huge pressure off us as a family and we are happy that he is content spending time in his room, not always the most keen activities participant but nonetheless enjoying reading his paper, doing crosswords and watching TV. We have always been made very welcome whenever we visit and thank the staff so much for caring so well for him.

Set back off the road in extensive private gardens, this family-run home does not have that familiar corporate feel. Each room has en-suite facilities with patio doors facing the different aspects of the gardens.
A skilled team provide daily room cleaning, personal care, and medical care including
a weekly visit by a local doctor and the kitchen produces familiar menus. Lunch can be taken in the dining room or in your own room. There is a plentiful supply of refreshments, treats and soft fruit.
Two adjoining lounges with large screen TV in one and a quieter area with garden views. Residents are encouraged to join the daily group activities but it is a personal choice. There are also regular visits by singers and family pets for example
We are so delighted our mother is here. Staff maintain a safe environment with the right balance of care and independence. Whether your loved one is the outgoing type or shy and quiet this care home knows how to look after them.

Another good year for my sister-in-law, thanks to all the care and friendly help she receives there. She interacts with all the activities, doing lots of different things she wouldn’t have done before. I am convinced she wouldn’t still be here if it wasn’t for their constant care and willingness to
make all the residents happy. Nothing is too much trouble and always done with a smile. You can feel how relaxed all the residents feel when you walk in. It is so good to know she is getting all the care she needs. Thank you, everyone.

My father-in-law staying for respite care. Staff friendly and welcoming. He is enjoying his stay and singing when other members of the family visit which is always a good sign. Staff look after him well and I feel that is the place that we all wanted.

My mother regularly goes to The Gatehouse for respite care. She has advanced dementia and the service The Gatehouse provides is superb. My mum absolutely loves it when she goes on ‘holiday’. All the staff greet her in a friendly way and she really feels at home. She is well looked after and we feel
happy in the knowledge that she is well cared for: So glad we found this place. An absolute gem and a godsend.

First class, personal care for my mother with Alzheimer's. This is a lovely, family run home with lots of personal touches. Great entertainment and catering. Whenever problems arise, they are dealt with professionally and with compassion. Really can't recommend enough.

This care home is second to none, we looked at a lot of care homes before we chose The Gatehouse,
Everyone was so cheerful and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, their rates are reasonable, it's just like a mini hotel.
My mum can be a bit awkward at times, if they can cope with my mum, they can
cope with anyone.
You don't have to look any further for a caring home for your loved ones. One happy son.

Caring and friendly staff, very clean and orderly. Patient seems happy and relaxed, lots to keep them occupied, games, music, singing, a very comfortable and welcoming environment. As a family member, we also feel comfortable knowing our sister-in-law is getting the best possible care.

Mum moved to The Gatehouse earlier this year as she was struggling to live with Alzheimer's. The Gatehouse is very much a home from home with well maintained, private en-suite rooms opening onto beautiful gardens. The attentive management team and staff are superb: caring for Mum with dignity and respect.
With gentle encouragement from staff, including the dedicated activities manager, Mum now spends most of her time in the communal lounges and joins in the many and varied group activities. A lovely surprise as Mum was never very social before! Mum praises the food, has her hair done every week and has made friends with other residents. Communication with the Gatehouse is excellent with regular updates and photos. We can phone, visit or take Mum out whenever we wish. Seeing a loved one move into care is never easy but the operations manager and her team were very understanding and made things very smooth. My family is so grateful to see Mum happy and so well cared for. Thank you to everyone.

Excellent in every aspect. My brother is always happy living in the home. The entertainment is excellent and sometimes he is encouraged to join in, which he loves. The staff are always ready to help them. The gardens are well kept and when visiting, we can sit out in them.

Our aunt, who had a fall in January, was unable to live at home as her memory was badly affected. We were so lucky that the Gatehouse had a room and let her stay originally just for respite. It became apparent that at 98, her memory wasn’t going to improve. All the staff are so kind and patient with
her and she looks really well. She has her hair done weekly and we are sent regular photos of some of the activities she has been joining in with. We often go out for drives or ice cream or tea and cake, but she is always happy to get back. Thank you to the manager and her lovely team.

An exceptional Care Home in all aspects. Pleasant rooms, good home-cooked food, with caring staff. They keep you informed of what is going on in respect of the health of staff and residents. There is a programme of activities including music performances which my brother thoroughly enjoys being a musician
in his younger days. I would like to thank all the staff for all their hard work and for arranging a lovely Jubilee Party which one and all enjoyed.

Louise Fowle

Louise is the daughter of the owners and has grown up with the home since the age of 12, when June & Eric purchased the care facility.


In 2016 Louise joined the home as the Operations Manager, to support the Registered Manager with the business and administration side of the home.


In recent years Louise has taken over the management of the home, overseeing the senior team.
