My wife was a resident at The Lawns for a short time before she sadly died. The last few weeks were the happiest I have seen her for a very long time. This was a direct result of the excellent care she received at The Lawns. What struck me most was the high level of professionalism displayed by all
the staff and the genuine high level of care provided to all the residents. The location of the home was superb, set in lush, green habitation with a small brook running through the centre of it. Of course, none of the aforesaid would have been possible without the high level of management on display at all times. To them and all the staff, my family and I owe them our sincere gratitude and thanks.

My mother was resident at The Lawn for about five years and at first, we thought that the care she received was good but sadly we had to raise issues on many occasions during the last few years of her stay.
Despite repeated requests for regular updates as to my mother’s well-being, we received very
little feedback which was especially vital during lockdown, e.g. we were never informed of our mother’s continued weight loss, she weighed only 38 kilos when she was admitted to hospital.
My mother suffered a fall early one morning and no ambulance nor call to a family member was made for 12 hours, despite her being in pain (the manager gave no adequate reason, apart from saying that they had been ‘very busy’ that day). She was eventually admitted to hospital where she remained for just under 2 weeks with fractures.
We then moved my mother to another Home nearby where she was looked after with a great deal of care and attention and where she gradually regained some of her health.

My Mum has now been in The Lawn Residential Care Home for over two years and I have no complaints at all, to say Mum is happy is very hard as she has dementia and is not so well right now, but the staff are on it. They have noticed the decline, her care needs have increased and so has the care she is
given. I sometimes struggle emotionally to come to terms with what is happening to my mum and need to talk. The managers door is always open, no matter how busy she is, she will always take the time to talk to you and reassure the best she can. The staff are very kind and professional and if there ever is a problem I feel I can voice it and be listened to, and if relevant action will be taken. I would not want my mum to end her life anywhere other than where she is, it’s her home and she is as happy there as she would be anywhere, but most importantly I know she is in very good hands, she unfortunately due to her dementia does not always recognise this.

Living in Holybourne and wanting to move my mother to the area, I looked at several homes in the locality but chose The Lawn as it felt like a home, not an institution. The original building and gardens are beautiful, but actually what makes The Lawn special is that the staff all care for the residents'
well-being. The staff instigated help for my mother, I did not need to chase them to get in touch with external professionals, I always felt that her well-being was their top priority. My mother enjoyed regular trips out and took part in all sorts of activities when she initially moved to the home. Sadly my mother's deteriorating dementia meant she could no longer stay at The Lawn. Having moved her, I now, even more, appreciate the intimate caring environment of The Lawn and only wish for both her and my sake she had been able to stay there.

I would just like to thank all the team at The Lawn for looking after my mother over the past year. When we were looking for a care home for her, we visited a number of different homes in the area. We immediately know that The Lawn would be the place for her as it had such a wonderful open feel to the
place, and we knew that Mum would be content there. The last year has been an extremely difficult period for everyone, but knowing that Mum was being so well looked after has made it so much less worrying. The staff were always helpful, and the feedback we got was that Mum was content.

Attractive residence with good-sized, light, airy dining and communal rooms. Large attractive gardens for residents to enjoy, mainly suitable for wheelchairs. Hardworking, caring and friendly staff creating a good atmosphere. Staff a bit stretched at times (mainly weekends I think) resulting in residents
being got up late, late breakfast and meal trays being left in rooms. Choice of food available but all rather bland. Decor is good and regularly updated when worn. Wear and tear take its toll. Residents treated with respect.

The Lawn Care Home has had to implement new Covid Wise Working practices. Enhanced infection control measures, including personal protective equipment, and rigorous safety and hygiene practices, has slowed the pace of some aspects of care home operations. The Lawn care home has adapted to this new Covid Wise way of working, ensuring we continue to deliver safe and effective care, as well as, keep our residents, our staff and our volunteers, as safe as possible, during the Covid-19 outbreak.

The Lawn was always clean and smelt fresh. My godmother enjoyed the food, which was served fresh and hot. The staff were always polite, friendly and would answer any questions and deal with any worries. She was always treated with compassion and dignity. We were very happy with The Lawn.

My father had been with this care home for nearly three years before his death in October 2020. I had visited him regularly before the Covid lockdown. In the first year, he was a resident, I visited daily and in subsequent years, 2 to 3 times a week. I have seen how the Care Home operates, had opportunities
to ask my father (and other residents) how they feel about the care home and it's staff and I have been very well impressed. The location is wonderful, the rooms are very good and the staff are second to none. They made him feel at home by allowing him to be surrounded by his own furniture and possessions. They thought through his every need and were always on hand to help - and having severe dementia - he needed a lot of assistance. He went on a few excursions which he loved and they even adapted his meals to suit him. My father was enabled to settle-in and live here in comfort, peace and a friendly atmosphere for the last years of his life.

Mum was very well looked after at this home. I felt that she was safe and her needs were sympathetically catered for. The home kept me informed of any problems at all times, and she was as happy as possible. She was a great gardener when she was a little younger, so The Lawn was very suitable for her
due to their lovely grounds. Their management of the covid crisis was admirable, and there were no cases within the home.

I recently visited my father who is a resident at The Lawn. The planned visit was in the garden because of the COVID -19 outbreak.
My father had a medical emergency around the time I was due to see him. The staff at the home and paramedic who attended went to great lengths to deal with the problem
and avoid my father having to go to A and E . He was very anxious the visit should still happen. It did thanks to the efforts and sensitive care of the staff and a skilled paramedic.

We found The Lawn to be a very homely environment for dad with a lovely warm atmosphere. The conscientious staff are respectful of the dignity, kind and communicative. Dad really enjoyed the food.

My father was a resident at The Lawn from January 2020 until his death on 26th June. We found the staff to be very kind and caring, and Dad enjoyed the good food. Sadly, lockdown prevented his outings to the local village shop and pub, but the home was very successful at keeping him and all the residents
safe from the coronavirus. Thank you all.

I visited The Lawns a few times whilst a relative stayed for respite care.
The building and surrounding gardens made for a peaceful and happy stay.
The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, including the kitchen staff who made our relative feel important and that her opinion mattered to them.
She was very happy there.

My mother has been a resident in The Lawn for six years. During this time her care needs have varied and recently increased. During the six years, we have noted positive changes enabling the home to keep up to date with the increasing demands of caring for the elderly. We have found the staff to be
caring yet professional when dealing with a potentially serious illness or injury and with less significant matters such as changing a time for a bath. The manager and staff do their best to communicate information to both residents and relatives and to listen to requests and ideas. The manager and shift leaders help to create a welcoming and calm atmosphere which I appreciate in a busy care home is a difficult balance to maintain. I am very thankful that my dear mother is living in The Lawn.

“Caring for others runs in my family. My Mum is a Nurse and my Dad is a Paramedic, so I was very fortunate to grow up in a very caring environment; it really spurred me on to follow a career in caring.


I have worked in the Care Sector for nine years, five of those with Friends of the Elderly, becoming the Care Home Manager at The Lawn in 2020. Each member of The Lawn Team is devoted to keeping each resident safe, happy, inspired and motivated, every day.


We support and work with our residents to be engaged and stimulated, by taking part in our wide and varied activities, having a chat and reminiscing over a cup of tea or taking a stroll around our gardens, perhaps even bumping into The Lawn pet rabbits – Snowy and Rudolph.


At The Lawn, we have a very open, caring, supportive and positive culture and a happy and loving environment. We really are a family. It is a home, not a care home and together our residents and team are one big happy family.”
