My mother spent just over 4 weeks in the lodge for respite care. The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough to take care of mum and put our minds at rest. She is well looked after her needs were taken into account. The staff simply couldn't do enough to make her feel welcome and loved.

Mum has been at The Lodge for two weeks respite. She has improved so much since being here. The staff are all very friendly and seem to understand her needs. She has settled in very well and wants to stay permanently. The food and snacks are very good and mum always finishes her meals. So far I cannot
find any negatives and I am more than happy with the care she is receiving at the Lodge. A perfect little home with excellent management and staff.

I have lived at the Care Home for two years now and I am very happy with the way it is run. Our staff are very warm, and friendly and do their job to the best of their ability. Anything you ask for is very obtainable and is usually dealt with as soon as possible. You feel as if you are family and friends.

My mother was very unwell mentally and physically after two bereavements in the family. When she first joined The Lodge for respite care, she was barely eating or drinking and not talking or engaging. The home went out their way to nurture and support Mum, encouraging her every day. She has improved
so much in the last six months. The staff and manager are all very caring and give excellent care.

Since August 2021, when my mother moved to The Lodge, she has been treated with kindness and dignity. Due to covid, Mum took quite a while to settle in as the environment was strange and extra restrictions were alien to her. However, she has now settled well and my sister and I are extremely pleased
with our choice of care home for her.

From the first day of meeting the home manageress, I was very impressed with all I saw at The Lodge. Good to meet a trustee at the initial interview and some of the staff. Almost immediately, I knew this was the place for my mother. A quiet 'homely' environment coupled with activities to join in. I
see committed friendly staff and an ongoing plan of refurbishment. In spring and summer, there are extensive gardens to enjoy. I commend and recommend The Lodge to all.

Good care. Family always made aware of anything that affects our relative. No visiting times. Clean surroundings, but more like a family home.

My aunt has always been comfortable and contented. Staff are always available when needed, they are always friendly, caring and helpful. The rooms are always spotlessly clean and tidy. I can't recommend it highly enough.

A loving, caring atmosphere is present. The carers provide a consistently high standard of care and are extremely professional. The home is well managed and at no time did my mother have to wait for medical attention if it was needed. Local health care professionals advice was always sought immediately
if needed. The food provided was wholesome and healthy. Families were actively encouraged to visit and participate in the home's activities.

During the time my mother has been at The Lodge she has blossomed in her overall demeanour. Her care and well being are always the most important thing as she turned 100 years old in September 18. The management and staff have been kind, considerate and caring and have always kept myself and my brother
informed of any changes to our mother's health and care. Wonderful.

My grandad is extremely happy at The Lodge. After being very hesitant about going into a care home, he is the happiest I have seen him in a long time. The staff are very friendly and make guests feel welcome. They personalise services for residents i.e. each resident gets a personal handmade birthday
cake and Christmas gift. Food is amazing, which my grandma enjoys every day. The staff do all they can to ensure he is happy and feels like his home. It is like one big family.

My father receives excellent care and attention. Since moving in he has recovered significantly both physically and emotionally. The lodge has a warm, friendly feel and it feels like one big family. The smaller number of residents and regular staff (no agency) allows carers and residents to really become
familiar with each other and able to make good connections and recognise any problems sooner. Always a bit welcome for all visitors.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.167)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.167) out of 10 for The Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.667 for The Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (40 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.667

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Lodge is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 14 registered maximum number of service users is 2.8, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
