Oaklands Rest Home offers specialist dementia care in The New Forest & Southampton, combining expert and tailored care packages with a comprehensive activities programme in order to support a satisfying daily lifestyle.

There are two lounges to promote social interaction, a cafe area for a quiet retreat, two dining areas to enjoy and also a spa bathroom including a hydrotherapy bath and specific hairdressing station.

Really lovely experience celebrating a birthday. Afternoon tea was presented with a cake for all members of the family.

Mum came in to you in unlikely and difficult circumstances. We knew it was temporary as she wasn't stabilising but was unsafe at home. In any event, she wasn't with you long before she ended up in the hospital eventually getting a diagnosis. However, in the short time she was with you, we couldn't fault
your care and attention for her and also us as we navigated ourselves through a very different time. Oaklands Rest Home is a place of kindness and warmth. Something so important to families and residents. My only comment would be the bathroom in her room was not really fit for purpose.

Whenever we visited the staff were pleasant, helpful and clean.
Mum was always clean. She is bed bound now and there was always a drink left in reach for her.
Face to face or on the phone staff always has time to listen and respond to any concerns. I feel that we are kept fully informed of Mum.

My mother moved in about a month ago. I cannot praise Oaklands Rest Home high enough for the love and support they have given, not only to my mum but to the family too. They have taken the time to find out all Mum's likes and dislikes. They have made her beautiful room look like a home from home...
special thanks to the maintenance men; they even put a photo collage together for her on one of her walls. The whole team go above and beyond in everything they do. Thanks to all staff and management. What a wonderful team.

My dad was warmly welcomed to Oaklands Rest Home earlier this year. He has a bright, newly decorated room, and although at times, he is still reluctant to be in full time care and misses his independence, he is generally settling in well and is very well cared for. He is not one to join in with many
activities, often preferring his own company in his room with his television, but he did enjoy himself when there was a “Men’s Club afternoon”, especially for the gentlemen residents. He also enjoyed having his hair cut by the mobile barber, who visited Oaklands in his fully equipped van. The Platinum Jubilee party was a lovely occasion, and he even got up and danced a little; he really enjoyed the music and listening to the singers. I feel he is well cared for in a warm, friendly safe environment, his personal appearance is important to him and he always looks clean and smart.

This beautiful care home which has always gone way above the call of duty. They know how to make a beautiful home for their residents and all staff are like family. Going out of their way to meet the needs of both residents and their families. We have been treated with compassion, friendship and respect.
Making decisions with the care home to make our resident's life so enjoyable. Every day is celebrated with each resident being involved. Nothing is too much for the cheery happy well presented staff. I have been involved with other care homes in the past but never seen this level of pure care. Our relative has never been this happy in many ways as he is now spending lots of time with his peers. In our home we have a much younger family, although he loved it, now he has the best of all worlds. I can not speak more highly of each member of staff I have come into contact with, from laundry staff to carers, managers and maintenance. They are all outstanding.

What a wonderful jubilee celebration, the sun shone and the grounds were beautifully decked out with jubilee flags and even the queen came. This was the first time we had spent in Mum's company for longer than an hour since she moved in in March this year. To see her smile and really enjoy herself was
very special, all the carers were so attentive to her and she obviously loves the attention. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My Nan was here for the last 9 months of her life.
She was well cared for throughout her time there by all staff and loved the different activities, food and people.
When Nan was poorly, off duty staff even popped in to visit her and my Mum and I felt so happy she was so well looked after.
The staff
cared for us as well and always lent a sympathetic ear to us both which made a sad time more bearable.
Nan was treated with respect and dignity through her stay and other residents look happy there too.
The home is exceptionally clean, the staff from all levels care and should be used as a demonstration to all care homes on how they should be run.
Both Mum and I will never forget their kindness to Nan or us.

I feel so lucky to be well looked after. The staff are so caring, warm and friendly; they couldn't have done more for me! I was able to visit my mum today for the first time since she became a resident at Oaklands over 6 months ago. The manager and her staff went out of their way to make the visit successful within the current covid restrictions. I cannot thank them enough for the care they have shown mum, along with the
rest of the team. Mum has been a reluctant resident, but she has nothing but praise for the staff. Thank you, we are very grateful for your care, compassion and patience.

We are delighted with the care Mum receives at Oaklands. During the Covid-19 period, the staff have been amazing. I ring every day and there is always someone willing to talk to me about how Mum is getting on, nothing is too much trouble for them. I can tell by the photographs that Mum is getting on
well and is joining in with many of the activities which are on offer. During the lockdown, there have been so many special events and daily activities, all of which are stimulating the residents and giving them such positive experiences. I don’t know where the staff get their energy from.
The management made the decision early on to close Oaklands to visitors and they keep us informed of all changes, even offering video calls with the management where families are informed of all that is happening and can also ask questions. We as a family are very grateful to them for this. They have always had plenty of PPE and have rigorous procedures in place to keep residents and staff safe.

My dad has been at Oaklands since December 2019. Before Covid-19 he had settled well and enjoyed being taken out for afternoon tea or a visiting the hairdressers. He was also being stimulated with the various activities held in the home. Since the lockdown, the care has been amazing, activities within
the home have continued and improved. You can call as much as you want and we are updated by phone, social media and have also had our first online meet. I have confidence that they are doing as much as they can to keep everyone safe.

Nicola

Nicola

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2014

Nicola joined Oaklands in 2014 as our Registered Manager and has become a familiar face for many in the Marchwood community, thanks to her ongoing efforts to ensure a strong relationship between the home and the local residents.


Nicola has an extensive background in the care sector, having started out in the industry at just 17 years old. Before moving to the New Forest with her family, Nicola also achieved a BSc degree in Welfare Studies from Newport University while working as a Manager at a care home in Wales.


Outside of work, Nicola can often be found taking part in charity work and raising awareness for dementia causes, having lost her own father to the illness. Nicola is also hugely family-orientated and loves listening to music and taking her dog, Bella, on long walks.


Samir

Samir

Job Title: Managing Director

Samir is the Managing Director at Oaklands and works alongside his brother, Anish, to ensure the smooth running of the home. With over 20 years in the healthcare sector, Samir has always been passionate about making a difference in the industry, improving care standards and enhancing residents’ lives.


With a particular interest in technology, Samir helps Oaklands, as well as other care homes in the UK, adopt innovative solutions to improve person-centred care. This dedication to the industry is what led him to become the Founder and CEO of iCare Services, which revolutionises the care sector through technology.


Samir is the former Chair and now Executive Board Member of Hampshire Care Association – a not-for-profit organisation, which ensures care in Hampshire is of the highest standard and quality. Samir continues to play a role locally and nationally advocating for care providers.


Outside of work, Samir loves spending quality time with his family and can often be found training at the gym, playing rugby and enjoying boxing.


Anish

Anish

Job Title: Operations Director

With his highly analytical mind and degree in Computer Engineering, Anish took on the role of Operations Director at Oaklands to ensure the best working environment and processes are in place.


Similar to his brother, Samir, Anish has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry and shares his passion for embracing technology in the care sector.


Before becoming Operation Director, Anish was also the registered manager at Oaklands for 5 years.


Outside of work, Anish is a very sociable individual, who values his strong family connections and friendships. He is also a keen traveller and is extremely fortunate to have visited several countries and continents.


Paige

Paige

Job Title: Administrator

Paige is a lovely, warm character, who you’ve probably found greeting you upon your arrival at Oaklands.


Paige has been with us for over four years and massively enjoys her job. Paige particularly loves the daily interaction with residents and visitors, as well as the wealth of knowledge she’s amassed in her role.


Outside of Oaklands, Paige can be found looking after her two pet rabbits and enjoying her newest hobby…sea fishing!


Mia

Mia

Job Title: Head of Care

Mia Williams is a hardworking and committed member of the Oaklands team and since starting her career as a Carer in 2016, has progressed to Senior Carer, Senior Lead and is now Head of Care.


Initially, Mia came into care to look after her terminally ill father with her mother, but as she truly values how precious the later stages of life are, wanted to give something back to other families. Mia continues to be passionate and committed to the residents and their loved ones.


Mia has shown her dedication by completing her care certificate, followed by Levels 2, 3, and 4, and has nearly completed Level 5. Mia is also our medication champion.


Dave

Dave

Job Title: Head of Maintenance

Joined: 2014

Dave is an incredibly valued member of the Oaklands team and joined us in 2014 as a trained Chef before progressing to become our Head of Maintenance.


He is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents and staff and always works tirelessly to keep the home and gardens looking their best.


Dave is at the heart of everything that happens at Oaklands and goes above and beyond to make events special for residents. From playing the ‘Last Post’ on Remembrance Day to creating a memorable Jubilee Street Party by putting up beautiful decorations to celebrate Oaklands’ first event where friends, family, neighbours and staff could come together again since the pandemic started.


He is well-loved by our residents and always takes their opinions into account when carrying out his work and spends time helping new residents settle in, to make sure Oaklands always feels like home.


In his spare time, Dave recently walked seven marathons in seven days, raising lots of money to support a mental health charity. It just goes to show what a caring person he is, inside and outside of work!

Job Title: Lifestyle Coordinator

Joined: 2024

Helen joined the Oaklands’ team as our Lifestyle Coordinator in 2024, bringing over 40 years of experience in organising events and activities. Born locally in the old Hythe Hospital, Helen has always loved being near the sea and the forest, which is why she’s never left the area. After many years working in various office roles, she decided it was time for a change and is now thrilled to be part of the Oaklands team.


Outside of work, Helen has been a Brownie leader for 39 years, sings with the ‘Goodnight Sweethearts’, a close harmony group, and is a member of the ‘Waterside Musical Society’. She also enjoys dressmaking, dancing, spending time in nature, and supporting local charities and events.


Helen is married with one son and two cats. Her organisational skills and passion for creating engaging activities are what make her such a valued part of our team. Helen hopes that the residents enjoy the activities she arranges and looks forward to spending quality time together.
