Ridgemede Residential Care is a family-oriented home for older people that is set in an idyllic residential location, near the beautiful village of Bishop’s Waltham and within easy access to major road networks to Winchester, Southampton and London. The home is set in pleasantly well-maintained grounds, with local amenities close by.

Staff provide assisted living that is all about the individual and pride themselves on giving excellent personal centred care, assessed on individual needs. The home creates a real sense of home by understanding individual requirements, preserving dignity and respecting independence.

Ridgemede House can facilitate residents in spacious accommodation situated over two floors, serviced by a passenger lift. The accommodation provides en-suite facilities in all rooms. The home also offers specifically designed large couples suites, where experienced care staff can provide care and support both individually and as a couple, enabling couples to live together and be accommodated.

Each room has a telephone point, access to a LCD/Plasma TV, and Sky, all combined with lovely furnishings. The majority of the ground-floor accommodations have their own patio doors, leading onto the garden areas.

The communal areas include the main lounge, a quiet lounge, delightful dining room with open views of the tranquil gardens, a filled carp koi fishpond and water feature, and all the gardens have wheelchair friendly access. The home provides daily freshly cooked food that is prepared on the premises, with special regard to individual preferences and dietary requirements.

The garden and dining area are often used during the week for numerous activities, entertainment, and celebration events.

Residents and their families can spend time together in the home or garden when visiting.

  • Where the Service User is funded by social services or the NHS and there is a shortfall between the fees paid by the funding authority and the fees charged by Ridgemede Care Ltd, in certain circumstances the difference can be paid by a third party. This is known in the Contract as a “Third Party Top Up”. The person paying the “Third Party Top Up” will be asked to enter into a separate agreement with Ridgemede Care Ltd. Top Ups relating to local authority placements must always be agreed with the local authority. Certain activities and outside visiting professional services, Hairdresser, Chiropodist, Private Dentist or events and the use of recreational facilities (you may be asked to make a financial contribution to the cost of some excursions; however we will notify you of any required charges in advance of any such excursion)

This home has cared for my mother and has managed her care from being mobile and coherent, through to her current position, which is totally bedbound and with dementia. They provided an individual hoist when she became less mobile and also now an electric adjustable bed with sides and an air mattress.
Couldn't fault any of the care services and the staff are very kind and caring.

Such a caring home, lovely staff, home-cooked food and good activities if required. Beautiful grounds, lovely to sit out in the summer months.
My mum was at Ridgemede for 7 years and I was always happy with her care. A gentle place with time for people to still enjoy life whatever their age or condition.

My husband spent almost three years in Ridgemede, only leaving when sadly he died in October this year. During this time I can only praise the home for their level of care for both my husband and all his friends and family. During the final six months or so my husband was bed-bound and unable to communicate
or do anything for himself, however, the staff treated him with genuine dignity, always talking to him as they were working. He was very content in Ridgemede and on a daily basis he was clean, dressed and shaved. The home is in an old house and therefore does not have some of the 'state of the art' facilities as found in other purpose-built places, however, the level of care from the staff and owner easily outweigh these trivial drawbacks. The home is very peaceful, calm, and clean, I would thoroughly recommend it to others.

I live in Australia. I come to visit my mum at least once a year. I am always comforted by the standard of care mum receives. When I visit, I often stay in the home for many hours and I get the opportunity to observe the staff going about their duties. Their mannerisms, soft touches, gentle words are
clear. It's a caring environment. All the meals are freshly cooked with a daily menu. The aromas from the kitchen just give the home that cosy feel. Being abroad, the management keep me informed of mum's general health and wellbeing. They are always attentive to my information requests. Mum has some medical conditions and together we update our contingency plans to ensure we have mutually agreed action plans in place. I am very happy with Ridgemede Care Home, it's an excellent facility.

My 96-year-old uncle made Ridgemede Rest Home his home over the past five years. He was well cared for from the time he moved in until his death this month. The food was homemade, nutritious and delicious with choice, and in his later days, the staff ensured he was well hydrated and the food puréed
as he could not swallow. The care staff, without exception, were well trained, caring and compassionate. The home always felt like his home and every time I was there I was offered a cup of tea at all times of the day, just like my uncle would have done if I had visited his home. The home is welcoming and the staff excellent. I would highly recommend it to anyone. He was a self-funder and had a double room but it was affordable and his last years were happy and comfortable.

My parents entered Ridgemede in October 2013. My mother suffered from dementia and died after a couple of years. Her condition was dealt with sympathetically at all times. Very caring staff. My father, now nearing his 98th birthday is well looked after. Although he misses my mother, he feels comfortable
in his single room with bathroom overlooking the garden. There are opportunities to join in activities, which he stubbornly declines. Sometimes the coordinator brings them to him in his room, where he is, otherwise happy to read, watch TV and look out into the garden. He is I believe the oldest resident and could definitely recommend and is cared for more than adequately at all times.
