The home offers superb facilities, including a café, hair and beauty salon, library and five-acres of landscaped grounds. There is something for everyone, including activity rooms with a varied programme of group and one-to-one activities.

My mother has been at Sway Place since September, and I am happy to put on record how grateful I am to all the staff for making this such a smooth and good transition for her. For myself, my brother and our children and families who have been visiting her, we have been so impressed by how lively, engaged
and settled she has become. She is a remarkable lady and very resilient and determined, but her progress is also so helped by the culture of Sway Place and the interactions and activities she has been involved in.

We have had a somewhat bumpy ride to eventually get our mum to Sway Place!
Our initial enquiries in December 2022 were dealt with professionally, efficiently, and in a friendly and welcoming manner. Communication was excellent at every stage.
We then hit the buffers with Mum being admitted to the
hospital just after Christmas, with further medical problems evolving. The whole team at Sway Place have been absolutely fantastic in helping us get her from the hospital to her new home as quickly and safely as possible.
She has now been a resident for two weeks, and already we are seeing a big difference in her general health, confidence and sociability. I cannot praise all the staff enough for their care, advice and attention, not only to Mum but to the family as well.
This is a wonderful start for her, and it is lovely to see her smile and laugh again.

From August 2022 until his death on 24/01/23, the Sway Place team provided a professional and compassionate service, providing individual support and updating my dad's immediate family whenever there was a requirement. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sway Place.

We barely need activity staff.
Since I am in one of the cottages attached to Sway Place, some of the ratings do not apply.
Since the group took over a year ago, the food has not been as good, eg breakfast - buffet and marmalade are poor.
Lunch - beef is mostly tough.
Supper-pudding rice is often
substituted for cosy rice.

We were incredibly happy to see some of your excellent scores, but I also wanted to reassure you that we have taken your comments on board regarding some of the issues you’ve raised with the food – we did have some temporary problems with our usual items being out of stock, for example, marmalade, so have had to make a temporary switch – we will be going back to the original as soon as it is available. We have also raised the issue of the lamb and beef with our Hotel Services Manager, who is looking into this for us. In regards to activities, we are very lucky to have recruited two new excellent team members who I’m sure will be able to work with you and the other residents on planning some exciting activities and trips out shortly. My mum moved into Sway Place after a prolonged hospital stay. From my initial enquiry, one lady was welcoming and reassuring and made everything as easy as possible for me. After visiting many local care homes, I knew this was right for Mum and also for my own peace of mind. I cannot fault the care
she receives; she feels completely at home and frequently comments about how lucky she is to live in such a beautiful place. Mum is not a great lover of food, but the staff have taken the time to find her favourite things, and everyone encourages her to eat. Both she and I love the fact that her carers really know her. They have endless patience, and nothing is too much trouble. They are so much more than just her carers. Her team also now know me and always greets me by name, which makes me feel part of the Sway Place family. I am contacted whenever there is something to discuss, and I am kept updated with the lovely events in the home. I could not ask for a better place for Mum to live in.

I came to Sway Place for Respite care during the Covid pandemic, and I never left. I now call Sway Place my forever home. I was made to feel very welcome, and all staff members go out of their way to make every day special. The food is excellent and plentiful, and there are always options if I do not
like something. I am a keen golfer, however, my mobility had deteriorated, but staff have made it possible for me to play my hobby that I enjoy so much. I have a beautiful suite that I was able to furnish to make a home from home feel. My suite looks out onto the stunning gardens where I love watching the rooks and crows gathering in flocks. I have never looked back on coming to Sway Place, my home.

My mother lived in the village, Sway Place's reputation was well known, and my mother already knew somebody there. We chose it because family and friends can easily visit and because of the shining reputation.
We were not disappointed as a family, on the contrary, the experience is even better than
the promise. It's a traumatic time for anybody to make such a move, and I was delighted with the understanding and care that was shown to my mother and the communication I received in setting everything up. Everyone on the staff has been wonderful, but especially the way my mum was welcomed and supported when she arrived was notable. I have nothing but praise.
Since my mother arrived, she has blossomed, and at 92-years, that's something. She has a spring in her step and a smile on her face. She enjoys the food, the company, the grounds and the activities. It's such a lovely environment, and her independence is cherished there just as she hoped.

My father was cared for by Gracewell of Sway for the last two months of his life. His room was bright, clean and spacious, and the staff outstanding. He needed full-time care - to be lifted out of bed, washed and dressed etc. The staff were always polite, caring and quick to respond when called; nothing
was too much. The food was wonderful and they were very flexible, allowing me to eat with my Dad in the garden when it was sunny and bringing ice cream for breakfast when that was about all he would eat. A fond memory is that when my Dad passed, they formed a small guard of honour comprising carers and support staff to say a last goodbye as the body taken away. I have only positive things to say about Gracewell... along with a big thank you to all the staff.

My father has been in the care of Gracewell of Sway for a few months now. Sadly I live a long way away and it has been very hard for me to visit. When I have, it is clear my father is being so well cared for. The staff not only look after his physical needs but are so kind and thoughtful. They chat
to him and make him as comfortable in every way possible. The staff have been great for me to deal with. They answer any questions I have had and when I visited my father recently they were warm, friendly and welcoming to me too. They have emailed me photos of my father which mean so much to me as I can't seen him easily.

Having visited a number of care homes in the area trying to find one that best suited Mum's needs (early stages of Alzheimer's), we knew as soon as we'd met the team at Gracewell of Sway and the facilities offered, that we'd found the right place! Over the next 8 or so months of Mum's stay, the true
dedication, commitment, attention to detail and love and affection shown to her was quite simply outstanding! The 'safe-room' facility implemented to allow visits to continue during Covid restrictions was superb and we will always be grateful for that time, plus the reinstated room visits in her final weeks, that allowed both my father and I to maintain the 'personal touch' with Mum until the time came for her to peacefully slip away. There are too many superb individuals to name in such a review, but the team are amazing and the level of care shown to all residents, not just my Mum was exemplary. We cannot rate everyone at Gracewell of Sway highly enough - thank you all so much!

From the first point of contact with the staff at Gracewell of Sway they were so professional, caring and gave us all the information we needed to know before our mum went into the carehome. She has now been there for 5 weeks and the care and attention has been outstanding and she has improved 100%.
The home and surroundings are beautiful we couldn’t wish for a better place for our mum to be. A big thank you to all the staff.

From the very first point of contact, Gracewell Sway was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. With our unusual circumstances and time frame, they went out of their way to help, advise and ensure a smooth transition for us.
Being able to view Gracewell Sway via zoom amid Covid restrictions was really
helpful to give us the best feeling of the facilities, activities and accommodation.
Our welcome was warm, friendly and very personal. This left us as a family with real confidence about the level of care that would be given.
The staff are warm, friendly, caring and always have time for us and our many questions as we adapt to this new way of life.
We know after a visit that we are leaving our loved one in a safe, friendly environment and his needs will be met.

I have recently moved to Gracewell from my home nearby, I have found the experience absolutely amazing. The staff are so kind thoughtful and understand what a huge step in life I have taken. My move-in day was run so smoothly and the staff reassured me constantly. Prior to my move-in, I viewed my room
and it has been laid out exactly how I wanted it from the moment I walked in it felt like mine with my own furniture, pictures and plants which made this process even more reassuring that I was making the right choice. I have enjoyed a weekly activities planner given to me and I can choose which activities I can join in with and I do enjoy a variety of the activities. My overall experience has been a good positive one and I am looking forward to my future at Gracewell of Sway.

I came to Gracewell with my wife who had a diagnosis of Dementia. My wife was well cared for by all staff members throughout her life here at Gracewell. When she sadly passed away I made the decision to remain at Gracewell and as this is where I call my home. The activities' program is set for each
week with a wide range of indoor, outdoor and trips out. The food available is always cooked at a high standard with a wide selection of choices. The staff have been wonderful throughout my experience here, supporting me through tough times. My bedroom is wonderful, cleaned every day and I am lucky enough to have a patio door onto a beautifully maintained courtyard. Which is south facing which I really enjoy waking up to the sun shining through. My washing is collected by my care staff and washed, ironed and returned in remarkable timing. The care home offers a lovely modern tea palace with a coffee machine where I enjoy meeting friends for coffees throughout my day.

From our first contact to the present day where my father is now a resident we were all looked after and supported through the difficult time of accepting that a transition was needed. My father was in control of making decisions throughout, making the whole experience as pleasurable as it could be.
Gracewell never made us feel as though Covid blocked anything, in fact, it was a benefit as the family visitors got time to chat whilst waiting for test results. On the occasions, I needed to call out of hours I spoke straightaway to someone aware of my fathers case and circumstances who could reassure my worries. The carers are all very involved and cannot do enough to personalise the care wherever possible.

Gracewell of Sway care home is truly the nicest care home I have visited, it’s beautiful, clean, modern and our grandfather's room was so very homely. The facilities that come with this care home are beyond what we expected and the care offered by the staff members is what you would want for your family
member. I had met with a number of the staff members at Gracewell and all were very kind and loving towards my grandfather and I’m so very happy he was there, our family saw a difference in our grandad and we were beyond happy.

Francis

Francis Bosompim

Job Title: General Manager

I love to see residents flourish and I’m so proud to see our fantastic team play an essential part in making that happen.


As general manager at Sway Place, it is hugely important to me that every person we care for is happy and feels safe. We work hard to ensure residents feel understood. For us, it is about supporting residents and enabling them to continue enjoying relationships with their loved ones.


One of my favourite parts of the day is the time I spend with residents and their relatives. It is a privilege to get to know them and hear their life stories.


I joined Care UK because it supports its teams. It is an organisation with clear values and there are systems in place that allow each of us to do our best, so residents receive consistent quality care.


I have a BSc in Dementia Studies and an MSc in Gerontology and Ageing. I also have a level five qualification in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care. It is an area of study that I am keenly interested in, and I also spend time researching dementia studies at the Doctoral College at the University of Surrey.
