Stroud House: Nestling near the foot of the Downs is in the heart of the South Downs National Park. The small, homely Home, can care for just 25 people, fitting the sensitive needs and feelings of those living with dementia. Their aim is to provide a strong sense of community and the best tailored care on an individual basis.

To do this they focus on feelings and cherish each person’s unique life and character from the moment they join their family. They find that this deeper understanding allows them to stimulate mental health as well as looking after physical needs.

The home has been adapted to provide a safe secure environment for dementia. With most rooms on the ground floor, assisted baths, a wheelchair accessible shower room and a beautiful secure garden.

They provide fresh nutritious and tasty home cooking from professional chefs who know everyone and their specific dietary needs. Plus, outings, musical events, specialist diversional therapy, birthday parties, and personalised activities that are intrinsic to daily life.

The home is in a quiet safe location, security is good and the gardens for residents are lovely. The staff are friendly, helpful, professional, and the food is very good. The care provided for my father has been excellent and the staff have a genuine interest in his well-being. Many thanks to the team.

Mum was admitted to Stroud House after weeks in hospital, on the orders of Social Services, and I wanted her back home with us as we had cared for her for 13 years. I found the experience very distressing but the staff at Stroud were so wonderfully caring and supportive of both Mum and myself. I have
now come to terms with Mum being in care, due to the wonderful level of care and support she receives. I am so pleased that we chose Stroud. The location is lovely too.

If you are considering a care home for a relative, the professional advice is to research a few. We visited Stroud, then looked no further because the genuine care was so impressive. Residents are offered a range of activities to engage, stimulate and exercise. Outings include the seaside, the Heath
(local beauty spot), the pub opposite. Relatives are kept well informed. Daily routine accommodates residents preferences eg., bedtime. Everyone employed is exemplary - a fantastic team. Any concerns are addressed immediately and practically. I visited twice a week and believe the quality of Mum's life is enhanced by being at Stroud House.
