The White House offers family run specialist dementia care for younger and older people living with dementia. Providing excellent person centred care from consistent staff, who are well trained in all aspects of dementia care, the setting is supportive, encouraging, stimulating, and always with a smile.

A beautiful country house with three linked, purpose-built units, residents enjoy formal gardens, patios, fish and duck ponds, and an aviary with exotic birds. Bedrooms are single all with en-suite facilities. The White House is a pet friendly home with a resident dog and cats.

Lavender-edged walkways offer an outside space where residents can enjoy the many animals, including tortoises, exotic birds, miniature donkeys, wallabies, horses, black swans and ornamental ducks.

The centre's pub, Kev's Corner, is situated in the redesigned central courtyard, freely accessible from all eleven communal areas.

A weekly GP in-house surgery ensures the best possible care is provided for the individual's physical and mental health. M.H.T and G.P. meet in house bi-monthly.

There are certified trainers for in-house training in health and safety, fire safety, safeguarding, DoLS, best interest decisions, care planning and risk assessment. RBS Mentor services provide guidance, procedures, audits for health and safety and employment law.

Daily in-house activities offer various pursuits which include cooking, arts, crafts, gardening, outdoor and indoor games, RITA a digital reminiscence system, activities and lots more with touch screen technology. There are twice weekly outings and various providers visit to offer music therapy, visiting theatre, animal shows. There is a hairdressing salon, regular chiropodist visits, daily newspapers and massage and therapy treatments that are included in the fee. Each week a resident from each of the four units enjoys a special day, chosen by the individual, arranged by their keywork

My sister has been in The White House for several months now and has been moved from general care to the higher dependency unit in that time. She has Alzheimer's. The care that she has received has been excellent, with a full, caring staff who give outstanding daily attention. My sister is safe, well
looked after and the inevitable decline in her condition has been catered for seamlessly. My brothers and I are very happy with the situation.

My sister needed greater care and support than she could receive at her former care home, so with help from care professionals, we chose The White House. It has been an excellent choice. The level of professionalism is high, but the care is warm and genuine, even on my sister's worst days she is shown
endless patience and comfort. The staff know about the things that worry her, and pre-empt anything that might make her nervous. She very much enjoys music and movement, singing, art, occasional visitors, almost anything she feels she is able to do. She enjoys it when she can choose music to listen to. She makes it clear when she doesn't want to join in. I am impressed by the choice of food available.

I find my husband happy, clean and cared for.
What I find very reassuring is the number of staff that are always with the people being cared for and if a problem occurs there is a member of staff right onto the incident.
The food is good and plenty enough of it, plus drinks are always available. Cold
drinks and tumblers are on a trolley and staff are in the kitchen to make hot drinks.
There is a good checking-in and out system for visitors and residents, and also a secure fob key attachment for those who are able to use them.
There are days out to various attractions that are available to those residents who would gain from the trips.
Family, friends and acquaintances are always made very welcome.
There are lovely grounds with an aviary, two donkeys, a pig, some wallabies and various ducks. All is very secure so no one can go walk about.
Another important point to me is that a resident isn't forced to go to bed at a set time or to be woken up to get up at a set time.

We moved Mum here from another rest home, as we wanted a place that had more activities and outside space, especially the animals.
We are really impressed with all the different activities organised by the team, twice-a-week outings, creative and fun activities, lots of effort, energy and fun to be
had. Also, local schools visiting, Mum loves seeing the children.
All the staff are so patient and compassionate and go the extra mile in interacting with Mum. They all have a wonderful sense of humour too!
Mum's key worker at the home is so thoughtful in ideas that are just right for Mum. She has a lovely warm relationship with her, they share lots of laughs together.
It's also great to have pets in the home, 5 cats and 1 dog, who is very friendly. Mum lights up when she sees any of them, especially if she gets a stroke or cuddle too!
Hair, nails and massages are included free too, a great bonus!
The gardens have ducks and swans, also wallabies, a pig and donkeys, Mum loves them.

My uncle suffers from Alzheimer's Dementia and when his care needs increased such that he became unable to manage at home. The White House was recommended by several sources. He settled quickly and is happy and comfortable in his new home. The staff have been exemplary in all respects – caring, compassionate,
and demonstrating limitless patience with the residents. The atmosphere at The White House feels calm and relaxed, and the characterful buildings and grounds are well-maintained. The rooms are clean and well-furnished, with care taken to make the residents' rooms homely and tailored to their personal likes/requirements. Additionally, the site is what amounts to a wildlife sanctuary which the residents are encouraged to experience, which is a considerable bonus for anyone who loves nature. I am very relieved to have found somewhere so suitable for my uncle to live and receive the care and attention he deserves. I couldn't ask for better.

The staff have done an amazing job of making The White House my mum's new home. All the staff know her well and l treat her like an old friend.
The whole facility has a very homely feel, and I love the fact they sit down in small groups for their meals. Despite all the challenges my mum faces I'm confident
she is in the right place for her and being very well looked after.

I am so pleased with the care given to my dad. He is always very well looked after and all the staff are so caring. I know he is in the best care which means myself and all my family can relax, knowing he is in the best place he can be. We have no concerns at all and that is such a great thing. Having

My mum went to the White House over 2 years ago. From day one the team have been brilliant, kind, and caring, always keeping me informed about everything. They do a lot of activities which is so important and outings which mum always enjoyed. The food choices are excellent, mum has put on weight since
she has been a resident! They have excellent grounds with a lot of animals.

Finding The White House was one of the best things that has happened from learning my wife has severe Alzheimer's. As an independent, "family run" home, it is different from many I visited when looking for the right place. The first thing that is very quickly clear is the staff are very experienced,
well-trained and happy in their work. Spending any time at The White House, you see that the staff genuinely care for the residents, treat them with dignity and kindness and know how to respond to any problems. The home is well run, clean and organised yet not institutional. Dogs and cats wandering around helps to create a genuine homely feel. There is plenty of space both inside and out for the mobile to wander amongst the plants and with animals and birds to look at. I am always made to feel welcome when visiting, and when I leave, I know that my wife is in safe hands and better cared for than I could do at home.

My husband has been in the care of the White House for just over two years now. I feel he is very well looked after by his excellent carers. The carers have all been, without exception, kind, patient and caring for both my husband and myself. They are always cheerful and good-humoured despite some challenging
experiences. I am extremely grateful for their experience and care at all times. When he was able, we were taken out in the van and given special days - lovely experiences for us to share and providing happy memories for me.

The ongoing care for my mum has been and is still amazing. The home continues to maintain the same staff, which is vital in supporting my mother's dementia needs - helping her to feel safe with familiar faces around her. The respect and dignity they show individuals along with compassion makes the care
home feel like a 'real family home'.
Activities, along with an amazing garden, filled with birds and animals create a calming and peaceful environment for all the residents to enjoy with their respective families.
Day trips are organised for those that can manage an outing with members of staff adding to further enjoyment for all.

My husband has been at The White House Care Home since October - he is suffering from young-onset Alzheimer's and is only 62 years old. Knowing that staff at the unit have so much experience in dealing with younger people with dementia is a godsend for myself and my grown-up children. We were all so
grateful when a place became available and my dream would be that there were places like this everywhere. We are all heartbroken that he cannot be at home but he is settled and content at The White House and so well cared for it has allowed us to have quality visits. Our first Christmas was hard but staff went to such lengths to make us welcome and the visit so special that it meant the world - they are all so kind and they are passionate about the work they do. The fact that many have worked there for years says it all. My husband has forged good relationships with both staff and other residents. He really enjoys the trips, the garden and the animals which bring joy to both residents and staff.

Our dearest mum became a resident at the White House during the late summer of 2019 because we could no longer care for her in her own home, and keep her safe from wandering! We are really pleased with The White House, and every visit we’ve made there the staff are always so helpful and welcoming. During
the pandemic, they were exemplary in adhering to strict Covid rules, and this kept our mum and all their residents very safe. However (non-Covid related), Mum became very ill and had to have a few weeks in hospital last September, very scary, but especially because of the no visitors to hospital rule! On her return back to the White House the staff were and have been so wonderfully caring in helping to build up her strength. They are so patient with her, spending time encouraging her to eat her meals, they have had to come up with clever ways! Visits to our mum now are all the more joyous because she’s improved so much, and is mostly free of pain at the moment. I cannot praise the White House highly enough!

The White House and staff have continued to provide a very caring and considerate home for Mum for another year and go out of their way to make her feel so very warm and welcome, catering to her needs, considerate of her views and preferences and above all giving her that 'family feeling' as well as
keeping a very watchful eye on any medical issues that do arise from time to time and which they act upon immediately. Although Mum does not really understand her circumstances or know where she is (due to her Dementia), she enjoys each day and is very comfortable with all her 'friends' and staff so long may it continue. Thank you White House for looking after her so well.

My mum moved into the White House just under a year ago and all the worries of ‘Are we doing the right thing?’ just melted away. The White House has been outstanding from day one, immediately making Mum feel welcomed and settled, even though her move-in day, was during a lockdown. Over the months,
I have seen for myself that all the staff show a great understanding of dementia and are always warm, kind, polite and caring. Communication has been excellent and nothing ever seems too much for them. When I visit, my mum is always happy, well dressed and has a good interaction with the staff. I am so glad someone recommended the White House to me, as I would highly recommend it to someone else.

As always, I was greeted very warmly as if an old friend and given the two Covid tests required. Whenever I visit, everything is ready and I’m never kept waiting etc. My cousin in the home is in a beautiful room with a great view and she always looks very well cared for and has a great relationship
with her carers. I’m always contacted regarding every decision about my cousin and feel so connected to the home in this way.

Julie created The White House in 1983 and has worked hard to consistently improve facilities over the years. The result a well-run specialist Dementia Care facility with a dedicated caring team of long-standing staff.


Her daughter Emma Hampton is the registered Manager and her son Manages the garden and maintenance.
