The White House offers family run specialist dementia care for younger and older people living with dementia. Providing excellent person centred care from consistent staff, who are well trained in all aspects of dementia care, the setting is supportive, encouraging, stimulating, and always with a smile.

A beautiful country house with three linked, purpose-built units, residents enjoy formal gardens, patios, fish and duck ponds, and an aviary with exotic birds. Bedrooms are single all with en-suite facilities. The White House is a pet friendly home with a resident dog and cats.

Lavender-edged walkways offer an outside space where residents can enjoy the many animals, including tortoises, exotic birds, miniature donkeys, wallabies, horses, black swans and ornamental ducks.

The centre's pub, Kev's Corner, is situated in the redesigned central courtyard, freely accessible from all eleven communal areas.

A weekly GP in-house surgery ensures the best possible care is provided for the individual's physical and mental health. M.H.T and G.P. meet in house bi-monthly.

There are certified trainers for in-house training in health and safety, fire safety, safeguarding, DoLS, best interest decisions, care planning and risk assessment. RBS Mentor services provide guidance, procedures, audits for health and safety and employment law.

Daily in-house activities offer various pursuits which include cooking, arts, crafts, gardening, outdoor and indoor games, RITA a digital reminiscence system, activities and lots more with touch screen technology. There are twice weekly outings and various providers visit to offer music therapy, visiting theatre, animal shows. There is a hairdressing salon, regular chiropodist visits, daily newspapers and massage and therapy treatments that are included in the fee. Each week a resident from each of the four units enjoys a special day, chosen by the individual, arranged by their keywork

Today, Wednesday October 24, the residents and visitors were treated to a wonderful musical time by a volunteer singing ukulele group. The whole room came alive and was thoroughly enjoyed by al,l especially the residents, many being able to join in with the singing and actions. All over too soon but
thank you for the encore!
Look forward to them visiting again please very soon!

Ever since dad became a resident at The White House, we have been grateful and pleased with the care and attention that he has received. All the staff that we have met there have all been polite, kind and extremely patient. It was a shame, that the 2 main carers that had been looking after him from
the start moved on to different units of the home, as the consistency with the same familiar faces was good for dad and a change in him was noticeable when they left but the new staff who then took over are also good.
It would be good if there were a few more organised activities even if just in the home, as this would be good to help keep the residents stimulated but do appreciate that this can be very difficult to organise and encourage the residents to participate in.

My husband has Alzheimer's disease and I reluctantly decided my husband wasn't safe at home with me anymore, after being brought back by the police many times.
As my husband is only 54 years old we had difficulty placing him.
When he first arrived at The White House it took a good couple of months
for him to settle in, being surrounded by people 24/7 after virtually 1-to-1 care with myself or carers.
He is now flourishing at The White House. He has lost weight, he eats well, goes to the day centre and has started going out on day trips.
Best of all, he smiles and laughs with me.
It's right when they say I can now enjoy him, the staff are amazing.

My Mum moved into The White House last month from a purpose built care home where she had been living for 19 months. The difference is amazing and it's brilliant to see the same staff every day who know exactly how she is and what she is doing. The previous home never had enough staff so Mum was being
looked after by a constant stream of agency staff. When she first arrived, there was concern that she wasn't drinking enough (and suffering from regular UTIs) but that is in the past now as they have taken the trouble to find out what she likes rather than just plonking a drink down in front of her and then throwing it away later when it had gone cold. I was able to take her out for a pub lunch one day then back to my home until after 9 pm, something I've not been able to do for a long time as she was constantly asking to go to bed with little or no interest in doing anything. Would I recommend The White House? Yes, without a doubt. Any regrets? Yes - one - that I didn't move her sooner!

My Dad has a rare and aggressive form of dementia. His behaviour at times can be challenging. The support, care and compassion shown towards him is simply amazing. He no longer recognises me or his family or friends. However, he will smile and interact with the staff which proves the care they show
towards him and how well they know and understand his needs.

The manager and staff are extremely caring, dedicated and patient with all residents. I have always felt they are fully competent in all aspects of dementia, young and old.
What is especially pleasing to me, my son always looks cared for, clean and tidy in appearance.
The provision of daily activities,

My husband, now aged 89, was admitted to The White House nearly 5 months ago and I could not be more happy with the care there. I like the arrangement of dividing the home into small units. There are nine in his group. Medical attention is good. He enjoys his food and loves being surrounded by so many
animals. All the carers are extraordinarily patient and thoughtful. Whenever I visit, I am struck by the cheerful, happy atmosphere.

My mother has resided at The White House since the end of 2012, after some poor experiences in other care homes.
Having worked for adult services myself for many years, I am very thankful that my mother is in such a well run and excellent care home. All staff appear to be well trained and compassionate
and the residents always look well groomed and well cared for. I have always had any questions or concerns dealt with immediately and it has given me complete peace of mind that my mother is in such a good facility.

The White House has been a real lifeline for my father and our family. My father was diagnosed with advanced Alzheimer's/dementia at aged just 62. We had tremendous difficulty finding the right care for Dad, especially as has speech affected as well making communication challenging.


Despite being

a desperately upsetting time for the family, the wonderful, kind and loving care, as well as the relaxed and warm environment at the White House, has given Dad the best environment and home possible for him and as a result, he is happy and content.


We love to visit and are warmly greeted and well looked after. The White House has plenty of activities and is lively and fun. There is also safe and secure outside space. The levels of care are high and the staff are dedicated and committed to residents like my Dad that have very high needs.

The White House is a happy, lively home where the residents are actively encouraged to remain active and engaged with a variety of activities and excursions. There is a good interaction between staff and residents and between the residents themselves. Families are welcomed and free to join in with activities.
I am happy that my mum is being well cared for and that there is the variety of activities that keep the residents stimulated and in good spirits.

Julie created The White House in 1983 and has worked hard to consistently improve facilities over the years. The result a well-run specialist Dementia Care facility with a dedicated caring team of long-standing staff.


Her daughter Emma Hampton is the registered Manager and her son Manages the garden and maintenance.

Emma is the daughter of Julie the Managing Director and was 7 years old when The White House was created. She was brought up living at The White House so it was her home as well.


Emma is a committed Manager with always the best interests of her staff team and the residents who live with us. She has managed to gain two consecutive outstanding Inspection results which is a credit to her and her team.

Neil is Julie’s son who, like Emma, lived at The White House as a child. Having had a career in the Royal Air Force am now back looking after building projects, gardening and maintenance. Ensuring The White House remains safe, secure and well-maintained both inside and out.
