Wimborne Care Home is a picturesque bungalow set back just off Mengham High Street, in a quiet residential area.

With a wonderful layout of two internal courtyard gardens, a beautiful conservatory where residents can sit and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Nutrition is a key part of health and well-being here at Wimborne, which means the home's Academy trained chefs work with all teams to ensure that every resident is catered for.
They only use the freshest ingredients and chefs take great pride in the responsibility of nutrition and enjoy serving their meals in the restaurant-style dining area for the whole home to relax in.

There is a busy and varied activities schedule, created by an award-winning Activities Co-ordinator, this includes group activities, along with one to one activities of each residents choosing, tailored to their individual request.

The café bistro is open to all, boasting delicious freshly made cakes .

Wimborne is a quirky and spacious home that provides amazing care by all members of staff who are always welcoming and always willing to go above and beyond to meet all residents' needs.
It has beautiful, well-kept gardens and grounds. The inside of the home and bedrooms are always kept tidy and clean.
Delicious main meals/snacks, tea and cake available at any time of the day. Fun activities are held in the home or trips out on the minibus for the afternoon with activities.
We couldn't ask for a better team to look after our grandad.

Dad is well cared for and settled. The many activities available are marvellous. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is varied. Tea, biscuits and cake every day is a treat.

My sister has been a resident at Wimborne Care Home for just over a year. During this time, I have found the home to be extremely supportive to both my sister and surrounding family and friends. The staff are always friendly and caring and are always available if I have any concerns. My sister is always

My grandfather received regular respite care at Wimborne Care Home and the team was outstanding in the care they provided. It really was a 'home from home'. When his condition deteriorated rapidly, the amazing team took him for respite with only 24hrs notice and made his last few weeks comfortable and
dignified. We are so glad that he died with his 'extended family', the team who cared about him and knew him so well and not another hospital or care home who would not have known him as well. They not only provided holistic end-of-life care to him but also advice and support to us as a family. I would wholeheartedly recommend the team at Wimborne who really go the extra mile for all their family.

Mum has been a resident at Wimborne Care Home for four and a half years. The staff are first class, every one of them. This gives me great comfort knowing that Mum is in good hands. Their patience and care are a credit to them and to Barchester. Communication and access are excellent, there is always
time for a chat or an update when required. There are plenty of activities and special days are always celebrated in style. Burns Night, Valentine's Day, Easter etc. So much effort put in by the staff. Thank you.

My mother aged 93 and suffering from dementia settled here very quickly thanks to the lovely setting (like a high-class hotel), excellent food and respectful but friendly ambience. When she became seriously ill and no hospital place was available, she received excellent care in the home from the amazingly
skilled and caring Wimborne team under the supervision of the GP. We can't thank them enough.

The respite care that was given to my father was completely covered with such understanding for his every like and dislike. All his medical needs were met very professionally and with care. We could go away knowing that he was safe and happy. He enjoyed his stay very much. Liked the staff and the meals
especially were high on his list. Very stressful and worrying time having to leave him but again the staff were lovely. Thank you again to all at Wimbourne Hayling Island.

The staff at Wimborne are to me its greatest asset. My mother has been in Wimborne for nearly four years, and during that time, her carers have for the most part been a stable staff, who my mother has grown familiar with. Whenever you arrive, leave or walk through the home, you are greeted by familiar,
cheery faces who have managed to make my very shy mother feel safe and relaxed. I am very grateful for the way everyone has contributed to this warm and positive atmosphere. I have huge respect and gratitude for what you have done and continue to do for my mother and us. Please keep it up!

My mother spent her last 13 months at Barchester Wimborne Care Home and was confined to bed throughout that time. She was loved by all the staff and very well looked after by dedicated carers, the catering staff went out of their way to ensure mum was given nutritious food and everyone made her as comfortable
as possible. My mother’s health progressively deteriorated but the carers’ dedication to look after her did not falter one iota. Barchester Wimborne offers comfortable décor, fixtures and fittings. A modernisation programme will start in 2022.
My mother peacefully passed away at the Wimborne recently. In collecting her belongings, the genuine sadness and love expressed by many carers and staff bore witness to my decision to place mum in this lovely caring community. I cannot thank everyone enough at Barchester Wimborne for looking after my mother’s every need and making her stay as pleasant as possible.

My father went to Wimbourne for 2 weeks respite care. He had not been in a care home setting before and as he has dementia we were anxious as to how this would work for him. From the very first telephone contact, the staff were brilliant. They answered questions, explained the setting and care, putting
our minds at ease. My husband and I were then invited on a visit where time was taken to talk matters over with us. The 2-week respite went very well. Dad adjusted quickly and every effort was made to make him feel at home and cared for. An excellent experience for us all.

My father has been a resident at Barchester Wimborne Care Home since December 2019. He had previously stayed at the home for respite care. but asked to return there permanently.
The staff are professional, unfailingly kind, thoughtful and cheerful. Dad loves the food and joins in with the many activities
on offer. I know that he is safe and well cared for in a lovely setting.
Wimborne is a gem and I would highly recommend it.

All of the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The carers are attentive and always cheerful, nothing is too much trouble; they are happy to assist. I consider the level of care to be exceptionally high.

The most important aspect is the people. The staff at Barchester Wimborne Care Home genuinely care for the residents and they do an amazing job with the resources at their disposal. Our mum is well looked after, and the team keep us informed and contact us when needed. The great standard of care is
very evident in the staff because, we can see the care given to all residents, especially if you turn up at short notice. Mum is generally in good spirits and keeps well. We are very pleased with our decision to use Wimborne.

My father moved to Wimborne from Scotland after losing his wife.
Throughout his eight month stay, he has been looked after extremely well by all the staff. The home is well run and beautifully furnished. I can recommend the home in every way.

The care home was very welcoming to my husband and showed concern for me. Because of COVID restriction, I was not able to visit as much as we could have wished which made my husband (and me) unhappy. Job Title: General Manager

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am very excited to be joining the team as the General Manager here at Wimborne Care Home.


I have worked within the care sector since 1991 and I am very passionate about my role and responsibilities. Right from the beginning, I knew that this was where I belonged.


My career began as a Care Assistant in a small independent residential home, and I worked my way up to Senior and then Deputy Manager. After spending 26 years in this one home, I decided it was time to spread my wings and was lucky enough to be offered a Deputy Manager position in a much larger residential home for a growing company. It was only a matter of weeks before I was promoted to General Manager and I devoted the next 15 months to improving the home and leading and developing the team.


I joined Barchester Healthcare Ltd in July 2018 as a General Manager and I really enjoyed getting to know the company, my home, my staff team, the residents and their families and friends. I spent just over two years in one home as the General Manager receiving an outstanding Kloe in Caring and good in the other four kloes in their CQC inspection before transferring to commission a new build in November 2020.


Whilst within the company I have also supported other homes in the absence of the General Manager and inducted and supported new build General Managers with the commissioning of their homes.


I have experience in turn-around projects and commissioning and over the years, I have completed an array of training and qualifications in Health and Social Care, and I continually look for ways I can improve my knowledge, skills and my own personal development.
I am very proud of everything I have achieved and I feel honoured to have spent my entire career doing what I love the most and feel that there is nothing more rewarding than going home at the end of the day knowing you have made a difference to a person’s life.


I am excited to be offered the position of General Manager and join the team at Wimborne and I aim to ensure, as a team, that we deliver a high standard of person-centred care to those we support, placing them at the heart of everything we do and meeting individual needs with the passion and commitment they deserve.
