Woodside Lodge is a warm, friendly and welcoming care home. The management and staff have a real understanding of dementia. They treat the residents with care, love and empathy. My Mum has been here for 19 months and even though she can be very stubborn & often difficult to manage the staff have been
brilliant and always give Mum the care and attention she needs,
I cannot recommend Woodside Lodge highly enough.

My mother (89-years) arrived at Woodside in mid-May 2020 in the middle of COVID lockdown. She was an Alzheimer’s sufferer who was no longer able to stay in her own home. I brought her down from Glasgow after a long search for a suitable home. As I couldn’t visit, I selected Woodside Lodge after a recommendation
and a general ‘feeling in my water’ speaking at length with the manager.
My mother put on weight whilst at Woodside, which is a testament to the standard of the food. Her general demeanour improved no end. She loved the music man, who visited every Friday throughout the year.
The general care and thoughtfulness of the staff are exceptional, and nothing is too much trouble. I witnessed many little hugs and calming strokes from carers when I visited and was waiting for my mum in the pod. These little things mean so much to so many.
She recently passed away with great dignity, and the medical support was exactly as the family requested.

The home has a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, all the staff are always welcoming towards visitors (when visiting is possible), and are very caring of the residents. Meals are cooked on-site by two chefs ensures the food is of really good quality and very varied to meet all of the residents'
needs.

Although we were not local, we knew Woodside Lodge as had a family friend who was a resident here, so had visited him. When our dad got to the stage of needing 24-hour care for dementia, my sister and I decided to move him to Woodside Lodge, as we had been very impressed by what we had seen from previous
visits to our friend, despite knowing it would mean regular long trips to visit him. It was a decision what we never regretted. The level of care is outstanding and a number of staff have been there for a long time. All the residents are treated as individuals and the staff make much effort to find out what the residents' likes and dislikes are. As their needs change, care plans are put in place to ensure their changing needs are met.
The welcome that family get when visiting is wonderful and the care for both our dad and us during the last week of his life was outstanding. I still like to pay a visit when in the area.

My mum had severe dementia and lived at Woodside Lodge for nearly four years. It is a small home run by a manager who is very approachable and kind and a very dedicated, kind and extremely caring and hard-working team of carers and other staff members. The carers understand the individual needs of each
resident and there is continuity of care with very little need for agency carers. The carers have all worked there for a long time and the positive attitude of all the staff make it a happy home. There is always a warm welcome for visitors. There are plenty of activities and music and a lovely hairdresser. The food is very tasty and my mum really enjoyed her meals. The home and bedrooms are very clean and it smells lovely. The gardens are well used too, thanks to the carers always going that extra mile. The home is supported by excellent doctors and district nurses and all the staff are very well trained.

My mother has been living here since February 2020. She needed more help as she was becoming increasingly confused and has memory had problems. From the very start, the staff at the home worked at gaining her trust and got her onside with their friendly positive manner. They let her settle in at her
own pace at what was a very confusing time for her. The home is not modern but is well maintained and suits her needs. It does not have an institutional feel which I found many newer homes seem to have. I have been impressed with all the staff who seem to work as a team and enjoy interacting with the residents; she often sits and chats to them. My mum is not always an easy person to please but she enjoys the food and activities. Even when she gets up in the middle of the night and wants a snack it is not an issue. It appears that the home works well with other agencies such as the local doctors, district nurses and mental health team and the manager ensures the staff are well trained.

We were lucky enough to find Woodside Lodge care home for my mother, following previous poor experiences where my mother's needs could not be met. From the first meeting with the management and team of Woodside Lodge we felt the home offered the level of care and compassion my mother needed. Since my
mum developed dementia the calmest and happiest she had been was when she was moved to Woodside Lodge. They treated her with respect and as if she was a member of their own family. The care they took doing her nails and her hair was above and beyond, they made her look and feel like a lady, not just another dementia sufferer. Whenever we visited we were also made to feel very welcome, the staff always had time to talk to us. They kept us informed at all times with any changes.
In the last week of Mum's life they treated her with dignity and respect, they took time not only to look after her care but also time sitting talking to her as we were not able to be there due to the current situation.

My mother was a resident at Woodside Lodge for almost 18 months until her recent passing in November 2019. During her time at the home, she was cared for with the highest standards possible. She received continual loving care from all the staff without exception, right up until the end. I cannot state
highly enough how helpful everyone was during this very difficult time for our family. I would recommend Woodside Lodge to anyone that has relatives or friends that are in need of care. I cannot overstate the excellence of care and service of this care home.

My family and I cannot recommend Woodside Lodge highly enough. They have cared for our Mum so lovingly and thoughtfully fulfilling all her needs. The staff are caring and gentle. Always on hand to help Mum and encourage her until she sadly passed away after 18 months at Woodside Lodge. In addition,
they were endlessly supportive to me and my family. 5 stars in every way.

I cannot thank the staff enough for their amazing care of my mother. She was in Woodside for nearly six years. She was always treated with great compassion, dignity and laughter and my wife and I were always made to feel very welcome when visiting her.
She died in July this year and the care in her
last week of life was exceptional. The carers would play her favourite music, hold her hand and give her the care of a loving family member 24/7.
My mother had a character larger than life and was always laughing and joking. The carers laughed and joked with her as well as giving her all the necessary other care with efficiency and sensitivity.
We cannot recommend the home more highly.

All staff are kind considerate and friendly. They take the time to listen to residents and help them through the bad days as well as making sure the good days are as good as is possible for the resident. The building has its limitations and it would be nice to have more outdoor space again for those
residents who like to get outside. However, hopefully that will be reinstated when building works completed.

Mum has been cared for in Woodside Lodge for more than 3 years. I have been extremely pleased with the care and kindness shown to her and to our family at all times. Knowledgeable and approachable staff, totally professional, a pleasure to talk to and discuss mum's needs with. The food is very
good indeed, and this is important to mum. Musical Entertainment several times a week, keeping mum and the other residents involved.

Charlotte Bale

Joined: 2009

Charlotte is our Registered Manager at Woodside Lodge.
Charlotte is fully qualified in Level 6 Health and Social Care Management and has an abundance of experience and further qualifications to complement.


She is extremely passionate and focus-driven, her ambition is to achieve a high standard of quality care that incorporates the service users' rights, dignity and respect.


With many years in the field and a personal connection to Woodside Lodge, Charlotte strongly believes in providing that home-from-home feel for all persons who become a part of Woodside Lodge.

Danni Davis

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Danni has worked in the care sector for over 15 years having previously worked for Woodside Lodge for 5 years before moving on to try something new.

Christine is our Senior Care Assistant and has been with Woodside Lodge for over 25 years.

Christine is very much family at Woodside Lodge and her passion for care shines throughout, nothing is ever too much for Christine, whether that's training new recruits, supporting our resident's daily needs or coming in on her time off to engage in meaningful activity with our residents.

Sarah joined Woodside Lodge in 2016.


Sarah has shown admiration and dedication to her role throughout the years, having worked her way up from Care Assistant to fully qualifying this year in her NVQ3 and stepping up to Senior Care Assistant.


It is clear to see that when Sarah walks into a room the residents faces light up and we are proud to see how far Sarah has progressed over the years.


Sarah is very much a part of the family at Woodside Lodge, nothing is ever too much trouble and Sarah's passion is evident from the minute she starts her shift.

Luke has been a part of the Woodside Lodge family since 2015 cooking enjoyable meals for us all to devour.


He had already been in the catering world prior to Woodside Lodge and had a positive understanding of what it means to deliver good, delicious quality food.


Throughout Luke's last 7 years we have watched as Luke has successfully worked towards increasing his passion and determination into what makes a positive environment that actively enables our residents to enjoy many of their past time favourites.


Luke boasts a wealth of knowledge and qualifications in this field and more recently we were pleased to celebrate with Luke when not only was he promoted to our Head Chef of Woodside Lodge, his hard work was positively noticed and he was awarded 'Chef of the Year 2020' by the Hampshire Care Association Awards.
