The staff at Woodley Grange are professional, kind, and very experienced. They not only took excellent care of mum but also held our hands as her dementia progressed. After 2.5 years at Woodley Grange, Mum has just moved to a nursing home due to increasing care needs, but again the Woodley Grange team
supported us through this. A huge thank you to them all.

When we decided that my mom needed constant care, we contacted Woodley Grange as my mum liked the idea of living in the Romsey area, the support and care shown to my mum was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble, they have gone above and beyond with their care and empathy to us, understanding that
this was quite emotional for all of us. The entertainment partners really do make a fantastic effort with all their trips and ideas, it really does make it a home-from-home. Thank you Woodley.

Woodley Grange is a wonderful care home. All the staff are wonderful. Friendly, caring and professional. Dad is always telling his family how caring the staff are to him. From the initial tour of Woodley Grange and positive information that reassured us that my mum would be in the best place for a respite stay. Mum was supported extremely well for settling in and supported in every way possible. Her daily visitors were made welcome. She enjoyed the meals and the room

Your staff were all exceptional, helpful and kind. If I were to find fault it would be to remove dead flowers from vases. Food (sandwiches especially) could be presented more appetisingly. I noticed that when the chief cook did them they were and looked much more appetising! It was after my investigation,
I found out that it was the chief cook that had done them!

I have also spoken to the housekeeping team about making sure displays of live flowers are maintained properly to prolong their life.

I have been a regular visitor to Woodley Grange care home in Romsey for two years - my mother-in-law has dementia. Never did I expect that one day I would end up as a temporary resident! I am in my late sixties and have had a hip operation that did not go as well as hoped - I was discharged from hospital
to Woodley for a week of care. The first thing that struck me is how nice the staff are to each other - it is quite normal here for staff to hug each other at the start and end of each shift. This is important as it permeates the culture here. Very small acts of kindness are very important as they are mundane and ordinary and happen all the time - a carer sits with a resident, holds her hand and listens to the same story told over and over again smiling, a temporary guest turns up at the front door for a respite stay and the staff exclaim " oh it's G" with obvious pleasure at seeing her.


Care, compassion and kindness define the ethos of Woodley Grange

I love going to see Mum, she is so happy here, she's got a group of friends and they laugh, also the social media page is brilliant so when they do their activities or go out they put lovely pictures up so I can see what Mum is doing, all (most) of the time.
Staff are so friendly and lovely, it's a
lovely atmosphere. They are all wonderful.

Very friendly staff. My mother is in for 3 weeks respite. We couldn't have wished for more, she gained weight and built her confidence back after a few falls. Excellent service.

From my very first visit to Woodley Grange, I have been really impressed with the lovely welcoming staff, the home itself and the gardens which are well-tended and a wonderful outdoor space for the residents. Over the years I have visited friends and family in various care homes and I can honestly say
that Woodly Grange surpasses them all. It has a happy home feel and the various activities arranged for the residents are superb. The latest is a small allotment space where residents chose what will be planted and help to tend the area. Should I need to live in a care home this lovely place will be my choice and my friends and family know this. In a nutshell, Woodley Grange is a very special place.

My mum moved into Woodley Grange two months ago and we have found everyone to be really friendly, professional and helpful. Having looked at a number of homes in the local area we really wanted Mam to be a resident which they arranged at really short notice. Someone is always willing to answer questions
and help Mam adjust to her new circumstances and surroundings. We definitely made the right choice.

Genuine and caring staff without exception, a very well-run care home where both the residents and staff are happy. My mum has been here for 18 months; we visit most days and so see the care at close quarters. Woodley Grange staff have been very flexible and continue to respond to changes in Mum's capability/understanding
and care needs (she has dementia). The activity programme runs every morning and afternoon, ranging from craft to music, entertainers and trips out. Residents are actively invited to take part. The home invites new ideas and acts on suggestions. We looked at about 40 care homes and visited 8, so can comment with some context - Woodley Grange is a happy, active place which suits my mum well and we would highly recommend it.

Loraine Tabbner

Job Title: Manager

Joined: 2015

Loraine joined Woodley Grange in May 2015 as our Head of Care. She achieved her QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care in 2018 and has since pursued further qualifications, including obtaining her Level 5.


Additionally, Loraine has undergone training in the 6 steps of End of Life Care and Champion Other Carers.


Loraine always goes above and beyond to take great care of our residents and their families. Her passion and dedication led to her well-deserved promotion to Manager in December 2023.


Loraine has 2 children, 2 grandchildren and a beautiful dog called Ollie, and adores them all. She enjoys football, walking and eating out.

Rebecca Newton

Job Title: Head Of Care

Rebecca, known to us as Becky, is highly experienced with 16 years in the care industry. Since joining Woodley Grange in 2017 as a carer, she has progressed to Senior Care Team Manager and is now Head of Care.


Becky has completed her L5 Diploma in Health and Social Care. She has also taken on the role of End of Life champion for the home.
