My father, who is practically blind, is a resident of the home, where he is well looked after.
In recent months there has been significant improvement in the home with renovation and decoration and opening up of communal spaces resulting in a wonderful atmosphere.
I would like to thank the management
and staff for doing their utmost to keep my father content.

My mother is a resident in Woodlands Care Home, she has dementia, and the care and attention she receives are excellent all the staff are very caring and attentive. As her daughter, I can go home and not worry knowing she is being well cared for.

It’s a hard decision to put a loved one in a care home, it’s even harder to choose the right one for them, we struck gold with Woodlands. My Mother-in-law moved in here in September and loves it (to our relief). A plethora of activities for her to take part in includes a variety of entertainers, singing
and dancing, bingo and quizzes, visits from nursery and various animals, arts and crafts, and themed days.


There’s a choice of areas, including a sensory garden, so she can choose whether or not to interact with others. The staff are what makes this such a lovely place. They are kind, caring, fun-loving and go out of their way to ensure all her needs are met. We are kept up to date with any changes in medication or if she is unwell. We are always made to feel welcome and are invited to lots of activities they have for relatives.


Woodlands meets all our needs and most importantly my mother-in-law is happy and safe.

Woodlands is a lovely care home for my dad. He has been in here since October and has settled in really well. The staff are very friendly and helpful and have been fantastic with him. He seems very happy here.

We, as a family, are extremely happy with the care, and support our mother is given. She has been a resident at Woodlands now for 18 months. She has a lovely big bedroom which is nicely decorated and with nice furniture. She is very happy, so we are happy. The staff are caring towards her and attentive
to her needs. We are always updated with any changes to her medication or if she is unwell. She enjoys the activities, which are varied, and she especially enjoys singing and dancing.


Children from the local school also visit for lunch and activities. Which mum also enjoys. The menu is varied, with choices and with various snacks during the day. She is looked after by lovely caring people and in a safe environment.

Had a wonderful time at the Summer Fayre. Fantastic staff who work very hard to keep everyone happy. Lots of stalls to keep people happy. Great BBQ. The singer was excellent. A lovely home, very cosy.

I visited Woodlands a few times to see my auntie, each time I was greeted with a smile and warm welcome. My auntie passed peacefully on 2/12/2021. I was able to stay with my cousin in her last days at the home to support her. Whilst we sat with my auntie I was made drinks, offered food and provided
everything we needed to ensure this sad time was more bearable. True care and consideration were shown by all staff. My auntie was deeply loved and cared for, I am truly grateful.

This care home has gone always over and above their daily duties, they care, deliver the level of care you would provide for your family and have a beautiful way of communicating with visitors to reinforce the support they give. Nothing is too much trouble. I visited 12 homes before I chose this one,
the manager amazed me, the staff were so open and caring. They treat my mother with the love and attention she deserves and this is not always easy. By far the best care home in the whole of this area. I hope all members of staff (including the member of staff who always gives my mum a cup of tea to allow my mum to sit and talk to me) get the recognition they deserve. Think we should do a newspaper review on them to show as they need to be seen as the real heroes of what is going on currently in this world.

Woodlands Care Home staff seem friendly and caring and my father is happy where he is. I think my only complaint is the lack of communication to families during lockdown, it would have been great if we could have had a regular update to what activities the residents had been getting involved with and
how they were getting on during the long period of time when no visitors were allowed.

I was recently concerned that when I visited my mother, she had not been cleaned up properly after her meal. Also, I would like to regularly check my mother's intake of food and fluid as she now has considerable difficulty swallowing and I am concerned that because it takes so long getting food and
fluid, down her, she might not be getting a sufficient amount. How do I go about checking her intake as I understand you do it on a mobile app?

I am so sorry to read that you found your Mum - having not been cleaned after her meal. If this ever happens again, please speak to a senior on duty or management as this is not the level of care that is expected from the staff at Woodlands. In terms of finding out how much your Mum has had to eat and drink, you can ask any member of staff when you are visiting and they can show you the amounts offered and taken during that day. If you want an idea over a longer time frame then you can speak to one of the management team and a report can be run and printed to show you her fluid and food intake for a week at a time. I hope this helps answer your question. If you need anything else then please do not hesitate to call us at the home anytime.

From day one Mum has been happy at Woodlands. All of the staff are professional and friendly and show great compassion to Mum. The home is cosy, clean and very secure. The entertainment is very varied and even throughout the lockdown, various films were shown and also the residents got to do quizzes,
colouring, painting etc. It has been great that zoom and skype calls have been available to book.

Having gone through two prolonged lockdowns where visits were suspended, I always felt reassured and safe in the knowledge that my Mother's care and needs would be maintained throughout these dangerous and demanding periods. Her care under normal circumstances is difficult enough since she is totally
bedridden and no longer able to communicate, and so her very existence and wellbeing is totally in the hands of the care staff who have done an incredible job under the most stressful and demanding times. Hats off and sincere thanks to all the staff at Woodlands for taking such great care of my Mum and kept her safe so that my family could once again get back to visiting her.

My Mum has been at Woodlands now for just a year all through these very difficult times that we are all experiencing. The staff are amazing. Always cheerful and willing to help. Interact with the residents with respect and treat them like one of the family. Mum always seems happy and likes to take part
in many of the activities they have there. This was an emergency admission for Mum during lockdown last year and I can do nothing but sing the praises of this home. I am glad that they were able to look after her.

Dad has been at Woodlands Care Home for about 30 months now and never heard him complain about staff. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Food at Woodlands is fantastic and my dad really enjoys the cakes and treats. The staff are easy to talk to and have a very good understanding of dad's needs,
likes and dislikes. We feel he is in safe hands and hope he remains in their care forever!

Caring, stimulating environment, I love that the local nursery come in regularly to visit with the residents, mum enjoys their visits. Mum feels very safe. She enjoys being in the garden, sitting in the sun is her favourite occupation and the staff encourage the residents to use the garden when the
weather permits.

My mum is very well looked after and cared for. She is mainly bed-bound, however, the staff regularly give her the opportunity to get out in a wheelchair and sit in the lounge with other residents or in the garden. The staff are fully aware of her needs and know her very well. During the pandemic, they
took photos and sent them to me as video calling would not have worked for my mum. When I visit, the staff tell me how she has been and let me know if she’s reminisced about anything, which is really helpful and reassuring.

The staff at Woodlands Care Home have been excellent over the last year that my Mum has been in their care. They appear to be very content in their employment, although because of Covid I have not had a great deal of contact with them, or been able to visit the home until recently.

Excellent all round! My mum was treated with love and affection. She was handled gently and carefully. Very competent staff, well trained. Manager amenable and helpful, and knew her job thoroughly. Good food, clean and pleasant accommodation, lovely garden. Visitors always welcome (except for COVID!)
and included. Very pleased. Mum couldn't've been in better hands.

Victoria Dunn

Job Title: Registered Manager

The home manager, Victoria Dunn is a Registered General Nurse, with a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management.


Victoria has been with the Brookvale Healthcare family for over 10 years. She has worked in two of the companies’ nursing homes during her time in Brookvale. Victoria moved over to Woodlands Care Home in October 2023.


Victoria prides herself on delivering and providing the highest standards of care, she drives change and promotes a positive culture within the service. Victoria has an open-door policy, residents, staff and families are always welcome to see her.
