My mother-in-law, who has dementia, was admitted to St Audrey's after a short stay at another home who said they could not meet her needs. On arrival, she was warmly welcomed at the door and from that moment she has had excellent care and the difference it has made is remarkable. She is eating well
and looks a totally different person and all the family are grateful knowing she is well looked after and safe.
A big thank you to all management and staff.

As visitors for 4 years to our resident friend, the reception from the staff has been pleasant and welcoming.
We have been readily encouraged to join in with seasonal events and any entertainments.
We have felt comfortable to approach the staff with any queries that we might have.
Altogether,m we
enjoy visiting St Audrey's Heritage Care Home weekly.

My father had several falls, one required hospital treatment. I was horrified to learn that the home's policy is that they do not send a member of staff to assist a confused elderly person who had to wait for 6 hours to be seen without food, water or assistance with toileting!

I contacted the area

manager who was totally unsympathetic and dropped the phone on me mid-conversation. I was then informed that a director would get back to me to deal with my complaint - two weeks later I'm still awaiting a response.

Other more minor complaints include poor quality food and shrinking of personal clothing during laundry service.

Staffing levels seemed low, especially at night and weekends.

Gardens and furniture are dirty and not well maintained.

On a positive note, the Assistant Manager was helpful and enthusiastic and tried to assist in any way she could.

My father is now well settled in a local home where I have noticed a great improvement in his care, appearance and contentment.

My Uncle has been living in St Audrey's since leaving hospital last December, he needed proper nursing care and looking after.
He was received by St Audrey's late one evening and a member of staff immediately made him feel truly welcome.
Alone and having been burgled then depressed since his wife
passed away 20 months previously, he was living in a state of neglect along with assorted health issues including very poor mobility but wouldn't accept outside help.
He is now eating properly, enjoying the safe luxury of a bath and being part of the community participating in house activities and the occasional lunch at the local pub.
The staff have gone above and beyond the call of duty after his latest admission to hospital visiting him (in their own time), alerting us to unexpected visitors, sorting out the DVLA and other utility providers who need to have the OK from my Uncle whilst they are on the telephone.
I live a long way away, it is such a relief he is in safe and friendly hands.
Thanks to all the staff. It's not an institution, it's a home.

The staff at St Audrey's Care Home are very helpful and I'm given a wash down in my room twice a week and given a bath once a week. I bathe in warm water, have my hair shampooed, lay in the bath and then I'm lifted out of the bath by a chair. My clothes are sorted out by the staff. Thank you.

My mother-in-law was a resident of St Audrey's Care Home for nearly 5 years, sadly she died earlier this year at the age of 97. Throughout her time at the home, she would always tell everyone that she was happy there. She was always comfortable in a friendly, safe and caring environment. The management
and staff were competent and professional. During her last days, she was treated with dignity and compassion.

I am happy here, the carers are amazing in their attention to us all. For instance, when I see a young girl with their gentleness, tend an elderly man into a wheelchair for his need, my heart is really touched. When I say that I am not lessening what volunteers do, its just an age gap thing - not fair!
No, we are all gently aided.

My father moved into St Audrey's in June 2018 for a 6-week stay and the staff were wonderful towards him, nothing was too much trouble. They were kind and compassionate and did their best to support him and also support us, his immediate family, with this transition into a care home, which he did not
find easy.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (8.036)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (8.036) out of 10 for St Audrey's Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.625 for St Audrey's Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (16 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.625

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.411 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Audrey's Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 7 = 0.286

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
