Clare Lodge is ideally situated in a quiet leafy residential road, very close of all major amenities in St Albans City centre and yet still very close to the countryside.

Clare Lodge is a purpose built, mock-Tudor style home, which has been tastefully furnished to a high standard and equipped as one of B&M Care's superior homes. This home opened in Summer 2008 and has been re-born on the same site of the original Clare Lodge, which was B&M Care's first ever home.

This small and friendly home has 24 en-suite bedrooms, 20 with showers, and all of which may be personalised.

Clare Lodge offers a choice of lounges and a stylish dining room, activities room and a large terraced area leading to the garden. The beautifully manicured private gardens at Clare Lodge offer a safe environment, with easy access pathways and terracing.

Clare Lodge offers long term residential care and short stay respite breaks for older people. The home can also offer care to older people whom may be experiencing an early onset dementia.

The home's Activities Organiser arranges a varied social calendar of meaningful, appropriate activities and entertainment, including trips to places of interest.

There were many aspects of my stay that were excellent. All of the staff were helpful, warm and caring, in particular, a senior carer with his cheerful disposition, and head cook for whom nothing was too much trouble. Her cooking was absolutely superb and she was wonderful in assisting me with cutting
up food.
The assistant manager was both sympathetic and empathetic. One of the night staff was very kind and humane and an excellent conversationalist.
A few negatives, I feel that the home is understaffed, particularly at night, with only two carers on duty for twenty-four residents. If I rang my bell, I had to wait a long time for somebody to come. The bed was too low and the light too dim to read by.
To end on a positive note, it was lovely to have my bed changed every day. Also, the room and other facilities were spotlessly clean.

My dad has been living at Clare Lodge for just over two years. My mum had passed away and he had developed early onset Alzheimers and was not looking after himself. We found Clare Lodge and have not looked back. The home is perfect for him and the staff are lovely and very caring to all residents. He
loves the food and is extremely happy. Clare Lodge arranged regular activities including trips our which he makes the most of. I highly recommend Clare Lodge. As my dad says "I am fed and well looked after what more could I ask for". Thank you to the staff of Clare Lodge for helping improve his quality of life.

My mother has just moved to Clare Lodge, St Albans from another care home.
Her demeanour, mobility, cleanliness has improved far beyond our expectations. She interacts more and is always smiling. The care she now receives is excellent calm, clean and a happy atmosphere. Always attentive activities
most days. The food is amazing and I cannot praise the manager and staff enough.

As a family, we have been delighted with Clare Lodge. Our mum is so well loved and looked after and we feel very comfortable here. Anyone can visit anytime and the staff are all outstanding.


Personally, I found it hard to let go of being my mother in law's main carer and the staff have been very

accommodating with me.

My husband has only been in Clare Lodge for a few weeks, but I find the staff to be helpful and kind and this is helping him to settle down in this new environment. His room is very pleasant and he is able to move around freely.

Clare Lodge is a welcoming place, which always has staff around and things going on. My mother, who really didn't want to go into a home, enjoys it there, and has been happier there than for the previous decade. She also likes the freedom to go to her room, or one of the living areas or outside at she
wishes.
Her health has been much better and she has only been ill once. Staff are friendly and communicate well. The only reservation is that she doesn't wash enough, but she mostly refuses, and they don't feel they can make/persuade her.

This is a small friendly residential home with kind and caring staff. We have generally been pleased with the amount of care shown to my mother, the responses to her needs and the attempts made to include her in communal activities.

Gina Edwards

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2021

Gina worked in retail management before starting her career in social care, as a Care Assistant, in 1998. She decided to pursue a career in a field that she felt had a purpose, and was more meaningful, so far as to make a positive difference in the lives of older people. During these years Gina qualified as a trainer, which fast became her primary role within the care home setting; supporting staff to provide best practices and excellence in care standards. This cultivated her promotion to Deputy Manager - a position that she held for 10 years before joining B&M Care in August 2021 as Home Manager of Clare Lodge.
