Handing the care of my husband over was a heartbreaking decision but the kindness and care shown to us was greatly appreciated.

My husband's key worker plus wing staff are amazing. His key worker always goes that extra mile for his care and compassion. Courtland Lodge is always inviting and immaculate

but always homely.

From November 2016 - 17, my Dad was a resident of Courtlands Lodge. He passed away on November 21st, 2017. The staff at the home were brilliant and I cannot praise them enough for the fantastic support they gave to my dad in the last year if his life. The home was welcoming, clean and a credit to your
company.

It was difficult for my aunt to move into residential care when it became apparent she was no longer safe living in her own home due to increasing dementia. However, the transition was made far easier with the support and care from both staff and management.

The environment is warm and homely. The

home is clean, fresh and welcoming both to residents and visitors. Staff have taken great care in getting to know my aunt and comfort and calm her when she gets confused and frightened. I am kept fully informed of my aunt's health and well-being and I would highly recommend this residential home.

The home is exceedingly clean and bright and never has any obnoxious smells. The dining rooms and lounges are quite spacious. Daily activities are well listed in advance as well as menus with 2 choices at meal times.

Clients clothes and bed linen is washed regularly and they always appear clean and

tidy. The staff are well supportive, friendly and nothing seems too much trouble. Management and admin are always available and very helpful. Finally, my aunt is keeping well and contented there.

My father-in-law has had to go into a care home as he has become too vulnerable at home. This was a very difficult decision due to his Alzheimer's. The support of the staff in helping him adjust to living in the home has been fantastic. They are ready to answer questions and offer assistance. They helped
him enormously and he is very contented and always smiling. Thank you, staff, at Courtland Lodge.

Our father has been a resident at Courtland Lodge since August 2015. Sadly he lives with the degenerative condition, Vascular Dementia. Residing at Courtland Lodge has ensured dad's safety and dignity. He receives 24-hour care which meets his physical, emotional and intellectual needs. As a family,
we receive the warmest of welcomes when we visit. On leaving, we are confident that dad is in the tender care and the safe hands of the well-trained and compassionate staff. Seeing our loved one steadily eroded by dementia is a huge challenge. Daily life at Courtland Lodge however, is uplifting and continues to provide life-enhancing opportunities for dad. He is encouraged to maintain as much independence as possible and his daily changing needs are taken into account with sensitivity and informed understanding. Dementia has not defined dad at Courtland Lodge he is respected and appreciated for who he is!

The review was very thorough and we were listened to when we raised issues and concerns. It was also a good opportunity for us to feedback on how good the service was and to compliment specific staff.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.429)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.429) out of 10 for Courtland Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.329 for Courtland Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.329

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.1 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Courtland Lodge is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
