Moving to a care home had not been an easy decision but Mum settled into Elmside very quickly.
All the staff are friendly and kind, treating Mum with respect and dignity. She is encouraged to join in with activities but not pressured into doing so. The social interactions and daily routines have really
improved Mum's well-being - and I know she is being cared for and is safe. Visitors are always made to feel welcome and it is reassuring to know staff are available to discuss any concerns. I would not hesitate to recommend Elmside.

My sister moved into Elmside in mid-August this year. I cannot put into words how impressed I am with the management, staff and care. It really is a lovely home and everyone, including staff seems really happy.

Our dad moved into Elmside mid April 2023 from another home after a very concentrated local-ish search. Any and all concerns with the move to somewhere new given Dad's state of mind that we had as a family, were fully addressed in advance, on the day of the move and subsequently. The communication between
the home and family is timely and easily understood. The staff are very attentive and caring, nothing is too much trouble and they are already getting to know Dad and his ways very well. I have no hesitation in recommending Elmside to anyone.

Overall I am happy that my sister is in Elmside. I think the team of carers do their best for the residents. The only thing that could be improved is the food. It has deteriorated a lot and is often very unappetising - for example (3 highly processed) chicken nuggets and soggy chips! Also, the printed
menus on each table should be reinstated. Also, my sister who is deaf missed a lot because of a lack of concern for deafness!

I'm very pleased by how well Mum has settled in. The staff are all friendly, cheerful and helpful. They treat Mum with dignity and patience. Other residents are also friendly and have played a major part in helping Mum to feel at home. I would definitely recommend Elmside Care Home to anyone looking

Introduction - I am 84 and had been living alone for eight years with a one-hour weekly housekeeper. I fell outside last November and fractured my left elbow and hip. Ex-hospital went to Elmside on 23rd December 2023 for convalescence till 3rd April 2023. Last year took a mental assessment test for
dementia and certified sound.


The table deserved its good and excellent ratings. This reflects on the quality and good training of staff. So I just refer to the food and drinks sector. Nutritional, menus are fine. Casseroles and other dishes are fine but soups are usually bland. As service is from one end to the far end the gravy tends to get tepid or cold food. Thus help if service alternated daily.

My very elderly mother is very settled at Elmside, the staff and Management are very kind, caring and considerate at all times and enable her to be fairly independent, whilst giving the support she needs to maintain that, within a nice homely atmosphere. I am also able to discuss my mother's health
and well-being with the staff which is very important, particularly at this stage of her life. As a family we are very happy with the care and support that the staff at Elmside give, as we know that my mother is safe and secure at all times.

My brother was very happy staying at Elmside and as long as he was content, I was happy. The staff made him (and myself) very welcome at all times. He enjoyed the food, the company when he felt like it but also the opportunity to be in his room quietly by himself. He was treated with dignity and kindness
and encouraged to engage in activities.

I cannot fault the management and staff at Elmside. Everyone is friendly and approachable; they cannot do enough for the residents.
They were very quickly able to facilitate the admission of both my parents after they had been in the hospital. They both suffer from dementia, and my mum is also not
able to do anything for herself and is bedridden. The staff have been able to find equipment which enables Mum to be moved to the restaurant and communal areas where she can be with others rather than having to stay in her room. This has resulted in her being brighter and more easily able to communicate than she had been previously.
It's early days, and Mum and Dad are still settling in, but from what I have seen so far, I would have no hesitation in recommending Elmside to others.

All too often we are quick to criticise many things in the world of healthcare. Whoever reads this be assured Elmside should have no criticism whatsoever. The staff are kind, caring and compassionate, the rooms are clean spacious and well maintained. I live 130 miles away from Elmside and I rest knowing
that my mother is in a first-class residence where her needs are catered for with dignity and kindness. I would have no hesitation in recommending Elmside to anyone who is looking for a safe and compassionate place to help with a loved one's dementia care.

The team tried extremely hard to settle my mother into the home - could not have asked for better.
The room has a garden view - much appreciated by my mother.
The staff seem to give everything I'd want and expect in terms of care and attention.
Dementia is an extremely difficult condition to handle
from a care point of view - but I feel my mother is cared for with dignity and compassion, is safe and as happy as one could relatively expect. Thank you.

My mother stayed at Elmside for 3 weeks last month while my sister who she lived with was on holiday. At end of those 3 weeks, Mum stayed another 2 weeks to see if she would like to stay permanently which she is now doing. Everyone at Elmside has been extremely kind and caring to Mum and all of our
family. The atmosphere is always very jolly and there is plenty for Mum to do. At home, she would not participate in any activities but now you will always find her doing whatever is on offer even taking up knitting again which she hasn't done for many years. Our family is extremely happy with the love and care the Elmside staff give to Mum and we hope she will have many more happy years in their care.

Since my mother became a resident of Elmside Care Home in February 2022, initially for respite, I have found the staff friendly and the excellent care and support that she has received has been exceptional. When visiting we always ask her how she is settling in and replies that she is comfortable and
happy there. This gives the family much peace of mind. My mother has always been a friendly and sociable person. I have no hesitation in recommending Elmside.

My Mother was admitted to Elmside for rehabilitation at the end of February 2022 following a long stay in hospital. The attention, care and support that she received in Elmside was first class and undoubtedly was the major factor in her recovery, allowing her to return home at the end of May 2022.
The staff are always upbeat, friendly, polite and nothing is too much trouble for them. The residents and their families are always their first priority and provided me with peace of mind. I do not believe my Mother would have made such a successful recovery without the support and care offered at this Care Home. I would have no hesitation in recommending Elmside.

My mother arrived at Elmside from the hospital at the height of the pandemic initially for a two-week respite but has now been resident for more than a year. I cannot fault the home in any respect. They were very caring and sensitive on her arrival which was very frightening and upsetting for her. We
have always been kept abreast of happenings in the home including regular postings on Facebook. It's great to see mum taking part in activities. Mum has flourished at Elmside and is now in much better health than a year ago. She thoroughly enjoys all the activities, and there are plenty of them. The staff are enthusiastic and always happy to oblige, running around to find mum when I've telephoned during the lockdown. They have done everything possible to keep residents safe but are also aware of the importance of family contact. Mum is thoroughly at home and a very happy resident. It's amusing that whilst we spent New Year's Eve in lockdown watching television the residents had a party!

Elmside provides a safe, clean, warm and friendly community for Mum, who moved due to ill health to be nearer family. Moving into a care home is a big step for both resident and family but the manager understands this - she and her dedicated team work hard to support the physical and mental well being
of all. They are very supportive, approachable and accommodating.
Seniors and carers are friendly, encouraging and professional, adapting to mum's changing needs. In fact, all the staff I have met from the kitchens, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, chaplaincy and activities have been very welcoming to Mum and myself.
Activity coordinators organise varied daily activities to engage residents and enable them to socialise - residents are supported to attend if they wish.
The Covid pandemic has been well managed and visiting is being accommodated safely.

My mother-in-law has been at Elmside since December 2020 initially for respite care but quickly decided to stay permanently, referring to Elmside as home soon after she arrived. She has made good friends and thoroughly enjoys Elmside's superlative activities programme. During this difficult lockdown,
we've had regular emails from the home to keep us up to speed and the home has done everything possible to enable visits when safe and practical. The staff are enthusiastic and welcoming and apparently, the breakfasts are fantastic!

My mum has been in Elmside for almost 2 years with dementia and breast cancer. From day 1 the care she has received has been second to none and as her dementia progressed she was still looked after with care and consideration. Covid has meant a difficult time for everyone and the staff have made a great
effort to facilitate visits whenever possible. When mum's cancer took hold they could not do enough for her in a very difficult situation. Unfortunately, she has now passed away and they looked after her until the end. We have been very impressed with the level of care from all members of staff and would not hesitate to recommend Elmside to anyone who is looking for care for their relatives.

My parents have been residents at Elmside since August 2020. The care and respect they receive is second to none with Elmside staff constantly on hand to assist when residents come up against something they find difficult. This dedication to keeping residents safe and well, particularly during the pandemic
has been, and still is, very much appreciated. On the comfort side, the environment is light, clean and welcoming and the food obviously enjoyable, forming an important part of the day. So too is the opportunity to join in the various activities that have been carefully thought out and prepared. Regular visits from the chaplain have been much appreciated especially when family visits were not allowed. Management has shown to be empathetic and understanding, coping with pandemic situations that have arisen including facilitating hospital appointments, and sadly a funeral. This latter comment is very important - we are confident in the knowledge that our loved ones are in safe hands.
